Of Secrets, Spiders & the End of the World
Enter the Goodreads Giveaway for a chance to win Of Secrets, Spiders & and the End of the World. A book 20 years in the making... inspired by the strength of my daughter after she suffered a seizure.
Book synopsis: As a living seed will not stay buried forever, secrets have a way of crawling up through the soil, just as a young boy did on a rather warm March morning. Years later, Chelsea Always, a girl of 12 summers who never knew of the boy, would soon learn every secret. While searching for her brother on her grandfather’s farmland, this shy girl discovers an underground city ruled by an ancient, enormous spider-like creature, Queen Niamh Rushtingkill. In this indigo world of the queen, an enormous city of spiders hangs by countless webs in the dying tree of Yggdrasil. The oppressed people and insects who once lived there in harmony are being driven to the edge of existence. Hoping to have an heir, the queen transforms the girl into an eight-legged creature like herself. Chelsea soon flees into the dark caverns to find her brother, and there finds the group of abandoned children who saved him, as well as many insects in hiding and several spiders willing to help them uncover the 19th secret that may save this falling world. In an age of growing intolerance and fear, Chelsea tries to help those she meets find unity in diversity with whispers of war crawling from every chasm.

In the scars are the stories
Much of the inspiration for my poetry and stories comes from pain, as so often is the case with writers. But my soul longs to find meaning and beauty in the painful wounds that can teach and lift me and others to rise above it and find strength there. May we all learn to transform sleeping winter into rising spring.
Why do I cling to mist?
These dreams of dust and ash?
Life is woven in frail fabric
Loose threads of myriad colors
Divine tapestry of a thousand scars
But in the scars are the stories
Endless remembrances...

Loose threads of myriad colors
Divine tapestry of a thousand scars
But in the scars are the stories
Endless remembrances...
