The Manual for Good Wives

Everything about Adeline Copplefield is a lie . . .

To the world Mrs Copplefield is the epitome of Victorian propriety: an exemplary society lady who writes a weekly column advising young ladies on how to be better wives.

Only Adeline has never been a good wife or mother; she has no claim to the Copplefield name, nor is she an English lady . . .

Now a black woman, born in Africa, who dared to pretend to be something she was not, is on trial in the English courts with all of London society baying for her blood. And she is ready to tell her story . . .

The Attic Child Nominated for TWO Awards!

Happy Springtime, Folks!

It has been well over a year since my last update and soooo much has happened.
Firstly, THE ATTIC CHILD was nominated for not only one, but TWO literary awards. THE JHALEK PRIZE (longlisted) and THE DIVERSE BOOK AWARDS (longlisted & shortlisted). The Attic Child came third in TWO categories of The Diverse Book Awards and I am thrilled! These were for the main categories as well as The Readers Choice Award!

This little book and I have been on such a journey and long may it continue!

More news… My next historical fiction novel will be released in Feb 2025 and it’s called…. drumroll please…  THE MANUAL FOR GOOD WIVES! We don’t have a cover just yet… but I will keep you posted!

For now, happy reading, writing, living!

On sky News Discussing Mental Health & Covid 19

Lola Jaye on Sky News

So last night I was interviewed on Sky news about a petition I started some weeks ago.

I was only slightly nervous, so not sure if  you could tell!

I will try and find a way of uploading the video here and in the meantime, please sign the petition which you can find HERE:

We are currently at just under 75k signatures!

And who knows, if it gets to 100k there might be a trip to Downing Street….

2020….

Hello Everyone,

It’s been a while since my last blog post, but little did I know way back then, what the world would be facing in the year that is 2020.

We are only 8 months in and for many it has been life-changing.

My heart and my prayers go out to all those who’ve lost their lives and way of lives because of the Coronavirus, Covid-19 worldwide pandemic.

Being on partial or full lockdown for all those weeks has effected people differently.

Some where happy spending more time with their loved ones, others learned how to bake banana bread, whilst some felt the huge weight of isolation. However, if you’re reading this now, it means that you managed to get through to reach this day.

And although we’re not all the way through this pandemic yet- we can only take one day at a time.

I spent a lot of time, praying, writing (eating way too much) and working as a psychotherapist. Working in mental health is a job I feel honoured to be able to do and in these times is/was something that is needed.

Like many I know people that have been impacted by this terrible virus and I know someone who lost their life (darling Indra).

Everyone has their own story.

But even if you haven’t been directly impacted, you will hopefully feel a good level of empathy towards those who have. God bless every single one of you.

It’s good to be ‘back’.

Hey, you know what I’m like-  I update this blog, like yearly.  However, you can usually catch me on Twitter.

STAY SAFE everyone!

Lola x
