Rajat Mishra is an Ex-Army Officer (Capt.), trained at the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Military Academy (IMA). After an unfortunate accident during a Military course, he lost his right arm. Life however, did not come to a standstill. The fighter spirit ingrained into him from NDA days, helped in setting high targets, and he moiled through to success. He went on to complete his 2 year MBA from the esteemed Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A). Rajat has inspired many people over the years with his story, and continues to spread the positive vibes in this second-life.

Snippets of his story were covered by the media (NDTV, CNN IBN, TOI, etc.) and have been widely shared through his blog—Blog

My answer is really straight forward - in spite of the training, I was and still am a regular (common man) person, and I reiterate - "It's all in the mind".
The answer really lies in our ability and willingness to change our thought process and approach to life. Sharp shooting, Rock climbing, Para sailing are skills that you have to learn via external means (not in everyone's reach). But what I'm talking about can be done by anyone - right now as I'm typing this and right not while you're reading it. Discipline towards an objective, perseverance (not giving up) and having a positive attitude is a conscious decision made by your mind.
I'm not saying it's easy, just saying that with focused efforts anyone can be strong willed and positive in terms of default reactions to the iffy idiosyncrasies of life. Do this consciously for 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 and sooner, that reaction will be the default one in the mind. I'm getting kind of preachy now :), but really, if I can do it, anybody can - it's all in the mind.(less)

Ever wondered what if you had the 'personal time' that you used to, (maybe) quite some time back? What…IIHT? We all have our 'If I Had Time…' activities or IIHTs outside of our professional and personal responsibilities. Writing is one for me, but over the last few months I've been working on another competing IIHT.This post is about finding that creator in us (and my journey of a creation). “Girls, well, when God was coding their speech pattern, he deliberately left out the brevity parameter. He probably had a good laugh, and did the needful to the other kind to maintain the balance.”
Rajat Mishra, Can I Have a Chocolate Milkshake?

“Life is iffy. We never know when it might pull the plug (we don’t know opponent’s strategy), so we should live and enjoy every moment to its fullest (minimize losses.
Enjoy this moment—this, this very moment. Live today, as if there’s no tomorrow.”
Rajat Mishra, Can I Have a Chocolate Milkshake?

“Alright, we’ll have 20 ‘Foxtrot’ pushups,” the SCC roared, “are you ready?” “Yes sir,” the Squadron shouted. “1,” he said, and bent down for a pushup. “Foxtrot,” we hollered, and did a pushup. “2,” he shouted and this continued with everyone being their loudest in the end. This was a kind of energy instilling act, which kept up the morale of the Squadron.”
Rajat Mishra, Can I Have a Chocolate Milkshake?

“Yeah, the world here is full of rules and most of them need to be followed. Some can be bent,” I said, and continued with a smile, “and others can be broken.”

“I wanted to continue the course, continue on what "we" had, and wanted life to be the same. However, the Titanic had hit the iceberg, the "done" couldn’t be changed now.”
Rajat Mishra, Can I Have a Chocolate Milkshake?

“The respect one gets in the forces by virtue of the ‘rank’ is not absolute. 'True respect’ is the one that is earned by virtue of actions, experience, knowledge and demeanor.”
