When dreams comes true :)

It is a ferrytale ... There is no other way to explain what is happening in our life. Today the rights to my wifes upcoming crime fiction novel "Skinnet bedrar" (Apperances are deceptive) were sold to Droemer Knaur Verlag in Germany. Six weeks before it is even published here in Norway! How can this be happening? Seven years ago we decided to reach for our dreams, and focus on our writing. Now it is a dream come true for both of us.Photo: Haakon NordvikIt has been seven years of hard work, an...

"Heartbraker" coming up

The second installment in the crime fiction trilogy about journalist Viljar Ravn Gudmundsson and police investigator Lotte Skeisvoll is due to be released in Norway this spring. The cover is ready, and the work to be done is now at a final stage. My publisher Gyldendal Norsk Forlag claims that "Heartbraker" is even better than "Maestro", and so says all my seven test readers as well. This is promising, but I do not dare to belive it is true. Hopefully it will be a good and thrilling read for...

My pounding Danish heart <3

I still remember the day. It was the 8th of June in 1986. I was sixteen years old, and gave my heart away ... You know the feeling? Since that day a tiny little part of my proud Norwegian heart has been Danish. What was the name of the girl, you might ask? Well ... Here is the twist of the story ... There was no girl, only 11 men playing football. The Danish national team won 6-1 over Uruguay in the world championship in Mexico, and Preben Elkjær scored three goals. I fell in love with Denmar...

OK , I am not a huge "Game of thrones"-fan, but honestly ... I got a feelingthat this will be a thrilling winter for me as an author. "The movements" is about to be released in Denmark, Estonia, Poland and Finland during the next five weeks. Wath I hope is thefinal draft of "Heartbreaker" has been delivered to my editor and manager, and I am waiting for their response. And finally I have started the work on planning the third book "Dead man dancing". I will probably have a sketch for the stor...

In the footsteps of Hemingway ...

I am back from Ronda in Spain where my wife and I have been teaching students from the Norwegian Author Academy about marketing and self publishing. Ronda is a beautiful little town up in the mountains not far from Malaga, and as you might know ... A place where Ernest Hemingway found inspiration to some of his writing. (Foto: Kurt Misje)We drove from our home in Orihuela Costa wednesday morning, and stayed for two nights at Hotel Victoria Reia in Ronda. Amazing hotel, wonderful surroundings...

First draft of Heartbreaker finished

Monday evening I finally finished the first draft of my second crime fiction novel "Hjerteknuser" (Heartbreaker). Once again it is journalist Viljar Ravn Gudmundsson and police investigator Lotte Skeisvoll that are the main characters. The story takes place in the same town in Norway (Haugesund) four months after the thrilling events in "Maestro" (The Movements). There is a long way from finishing a first draft to deliver a printable story that you can find in a bookstore. My first novel took...

MAKING A MURDERER

The topic of this blogspot ishow to make a murderer. A lot of people have been asking me this question. How on earth do you manage making a person like the Maestro in "The Movements"? Is this some kind of morbid fantasy that you have, or is it just a weirdsense of imagination? Even my wife started to worry when she read the sketch the first time. “Are you some kind of sociopath?” she asked. “Hiding in the shadows pretending to be Mr. Nice Guy all these years? Is this who you really are?”“Well...
