New website
Happy Autumn! As I mentioned in my last post, I've been busy working on my new website for the last couple of months. I'm launching a business, offering editorial, self-publishing, and writing services, so I needed a website for potential customers to find out about me and the services I'm offering. The website is now live and I'm quite proud of it. I'm no web designer, but I think (hope) I've

New website in the pipeline
You'll see I haven't posted for awhile, the reason being I am in the process of creating a website. I'm so excited - I can't wait to reveal it. I'll let you know as soon as it's ready. Bear with me - it will go live in September. In the meantime, I hope you have a lovely rest of the summer (as I type it's raining

My self-publishing journey: part two
***If you haven't already, please read part one of my self-publishing journey.***
This is an extract from my book, How to Self-Publish on a Budget.
I embarked on writing a non-fiction book about my dog, the first of which, All About Archie: Bringing Up A Puppy, came out in the summer of 2018. That was the first book I had professionally edited. I couldn’t seem to organise it in a way that

My self-publishing journey: part one
This is an extract from my latest book, How to Self-Publish on a Budget.
I’ve been writing stories since I was a child, but although I’d written for years, I only started seriously working on a novel back in the summer of 2007. Why? Because I’d just relocated and was struggling to settle in, both to a new area and a new job. Writing was my way of escaping from real life for a short while.

I've been pondering what to write in this post for a few ...
I've been pondering what to write in this post for a few days. I want to help people, but I don't know what to say. It's such a strange period of time. I sometimes feel like I'm in an Sci Fi film! I have panicky moments, but then I remember I'm well, my family and friends are well, I have enough supplies in for the time being, I have a gorgeous dog who is up for cuddles most of the time (

Books, glorious books
I read ALOT. 100+ books last year according to Goodreads. Reading so many books could cost me a lot of money and whilst I do buy books, I'm also lucky enough to get advanced reader copies of books for free via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. Recently I've been thinking of more ways I can give back (aside from leaving a review), so I've decided to compile a list of eBooks I've

About my new business
I've always loved to read and write. I’ve self-published eight books via Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and now I want to help others to do the same. I’m setting up in business and the first service I will be offering is beta reading, but this is enhanced beta reading in that I will provide clients with a report and I will add comments where applicable on the manuscript itself. I'll

The day I was offered a publishing contract
This week my heart raced when I opened the post and pulled out a publishing contract for a picture book story I submitted before Christmas. Hands shaking, I read the accompanying letter, my heart sinking the more I read. The editorial team had only compliments for the story. With the right graphics it was felt that my story could have a chance in the children's book market. BUT. Because I am an
