It doesn’t have to be Science vs God
Does it always have to be Science vs. God? This talk by Bryan Enderle at a TED Conference describes how talking about God with a scientific perspective does not have to be an implausible argument. This talk is perfect for this blog, and backs up the science-friendly interpretations of divine purpose as described in The God Notion.
After all, what is reality? Everything in the universe is made of atoms, and atoms are made of 99.9999999999999 nothing. With scientific facts like these, modern science has actually helped us make connections between the weird qualities in quantum physics, and light and space-time, and the mystical qualities about God.
The conclusion has to be that there is meaning to the universe, and this meaning needs the mechanics we can see and calculate in science.

Best Atheist Arguments
Atheists are good at saying how religion is wrong, but terrible for offering a counter-argument as to why there is something more than nothing. Everything comes from some first cause source, and to my mind, if you want to call it God, fine. The point is, even if religions believe implausible old-fashioned concepts, or arguments, then we really do need to offer a plausible counter-arguments for the sake of our sanity as intelligent beings. If the first cause source is beyond space and time, then we must assume this source has the potential to create what we see as reality. Maybe it is the polar opposite of absolute nothing and is infinite in potential: But how can anything be real without first becoming less than infinite, or finite? So maybe this is why there is something more than nothing, and maybe it is why anything is less than everything. Logic would suggest that this means infinite potential needs to be worked out in the context of being less than infinite but more than nothing. To quote from “The God Notion” …”stemming from a kind of pure thinking [the universe] is focussing potentials like a universal brain, or mind.” So maybe God is a Universal Mind. For me, this is a plausible counter-argument to religious teachings.

Is There A God?
Russell Brand has strong arguments against Stephen Fry’s points about religion. I respect both points of view and can see both sides.
It seems to me that religion and science are both wrong. Religions believe in a personal God (usually a man in the sky with a beard), and scientists seem to believe everything is randomness that just pops into existence out of nothing and for no real reason or without any purpose. I believe both preconceptions are implausible. If there is more than nothing, then there must be a cause; I suggest maybe this cause is not a limited thing, in which case it is infinite (the polar opposite of nothing, which is why there is something more than nothing). To quote from “The God Notion” …”Infinity is something that is inconceivable, but split into finite parts it becomes something conceivable. …To put it in spiritual terms: God cannot know himself as “everything”, but only as a myriad of ‘determined things’ created within this everything.”

Why is there more than nothing?
If you needed convincing that there is an intelligence, or intelligent design in the universe, then this video provides an argument hard to disparage. However, it doesn’t tell us who designed the designer (The God Notion goes much further by describing where intelligent design comes from). Nonetheless this excellent lecture definitely leaves little doubt there is an infinite intelligence behind universal design.
In response to the question, why is there something rather than nothing; The God Notion describes how absolute nothing can only be a concept at all by NOT being something. Anything that exists has to be more than nothing but less that infinite everything; so the reason there is something more than nothing is because there is also such a thing as infinite potential. It is the same as asking why anything is less than everything. This is why anything exists at all, and nothing lasts forever …even the universe came from nothing and will not last for all eternity. However, the reason for its existence comes from the eternal Source of all potentiality: And as consciousness is a natural experiencing part of this Source, then consciousness must be eternal …a natural evolving sentience of the Infinite Source.

Is Consciousness More than the Brain
Is consciousness a by-product of the brain, as the materialists would have us believe, or is it something more fundamental. Western science has been trying to prove that everything is material, therefore consciousness is created by the material brain. The trouble is they can’t prove it. And it is looking more and more like the brain is a signal receiver rather than a signal generator. As I say in the book.. “No region of the brain stores memories; it accommodates charged reflections of perceptions AS memories. The soul is engaged in our life in such ways” This video describes a strengthening scientific view that matter is NOT the only reality…

Scientists talk about God
As I mention in the book, many scientists believe in God, if not necessarily the supernatural God as believed within religions. This video shows scientists revealing their opinions on camera for program makers. The reason scientists are almost forced to accept some kind of higher power is the incredible fine tuning that was, and is, necessary to make our universe. in fact, it is so finely tuned as to be beyond any chance of us just being lucky. The odds against such a thing happening by chance are unimaginably colossal – the universe far too improbable to accept without there being some kind of predetermination before the Big Bang, Is this evidence of a fine tuner? See what scientists think…

Einstein on God
Religions tend to believe in a supernatural personal God. Einstein, like many other scientifically minded people, do not normally think this way. Einstein was asked a lot about his views regarding his beliefs about, or in God, or not. My guess is he believed in a higher power, just not the religions version of God…
This website is all about probably the most important questions we can ask: What is life, why are we here, and what is the meaning of life? In a non-religious way, we are looking to answer such big questions as; what is reality, what is consciousness, the mind, and what is God? The video above is one of an ongoing stream of content to help answer these huge questions. If you would like to be kept up to date with the latest posts on this website, please follow us…
