J. John Meets Paul Gibbs on Facing the Canon

J. John Meets Paul Clayton GibbsUNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-0"));

British Christianity has been shaped by a rich tapestry of voices. From stadium-filling preachers to local church storytellers, the UK has produced leaders whose words stir faith, inspire action, and stay with you long after you’ve heard them. Occasionally, those voices come together in ways that feel both unexpected and significant.

That is why the meeting of J. John and Paul Clayton Gibbs on Facing the Canon feels so timely. For years, these two have been shaping lives across continents, each with a unique approach. J. John has mastered the art of communicating the Gospel through the use of stories that make us laugh. Paul Gibbs pioneered a movement in 1992 which is now in every inhabitable continent on Earth; embedding mission into schools, churches, and local communities. Both British. Both global. Both with decades of ministry behind them. And yet, until now, no shared platform.

This conversation is not just a pleasant interview. It is the collision of two ministry worlds. One rooted in evangelistic proclamation. The other built on multiplying discipleship. Together, they paint a picture of a church that speaks truth boldly and lives it out practically. And somewhere in their shared network of friends and storytellers including none other than Mark Ritchie, known for both his humour and powerful testimony, you realise these leaders have been orbiting each other for years, and how thrilled it is for me to introduce you to these two powerhouse ministers, and a massive thanks to the J. John, Killy, and the team, for setting up this interview, where Paul Gibbs shares about what it is like to become Kingdom Centric on Facing the Canon.

This isn’t just two leaders swapping ministry stories, it’s the meeting of two very different but perfectly complementary callings:

J. John is the consummate evangelist, brilliant at engaging culture and helping Christians share their faith with confidence and creativity.

Paul C. Gibbs
is the movement-builder, embedding the Gospel into the everyday structures of society so it outlasts events and personalities.

Put them together, and you get a vision of the Church that both proclaims and embeds: a faith that’s boldly spoken and tangibly lived.

Final Thoughts

Watching this conversation feels a bit like watching two old friends finally meet, except they’re not just catching up over tea; they’re here to communicate the Kingdom-Centric gospel, and

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when an evangelist who loves asking the core questions meets a strategist who builds Kingdom infrastructure… this is it.

“Still Part of the Story”

Still part of the “Story”

Author: Ruven Oehmke, Pais DACH Regional Director

UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-0"));

After completing her Pais apprenticeship in Canada, Letitia returned to Germany and continued applying what she had learned to her personal and ministry life. Her passion for the Pais vision led her to intern at the Global Headquarters, deepening her involvement. Now, Letitia supports the development of Pais in the DACH-region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). Read her full interview to discover what excites her about serving with Pais and how you, as an alum, can also stay involved.

Letitia, tell us a little bit about your background and how your apprenticeship with Pais has impacted you?

I came to faith through a missions team at 14, so youth and mission work have always been close to my heart. That’s why I’m so thankful for the opportunity to do a Pais apprenticeship—it gave me tools and helped shape who I am today. Through the apprenticeship, I learned to follow Jesus in a tangible way, ask better questions, and study scripture using Haverim. It didn’t just grow my faith—it equipped me to impact others and recognize God’s work in my community, schools, and beyond.

Why have you chosen to reconnect with Pais after your apprenticeship and how are you personally supporting the ministry?

I had the time and opportunity and wanted to deepen my understanding of how Pais operates—not just the methods, but the structure and purpose behind them. I also hoped to contribute meaningfully to the movement. Now, I’m part of the DACH team, supporting communication efforts and helping build systems to connect with churches and manage social media regularly.

UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-1"));”I wanted to use my time wisely and contribute where it could help not only me but also the movement.”UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-2"));

How can other alumni get involved?

Whether you served locally or abroad, your journey with Pais doesn’t have to end after your apprenticeship. Staying involved—through volunteering, practical support, or giving—helps the movement grow, as seen in Germany where all current team members are former apprentices.

If you’re from the DACH region (Germany, Austria, or Switzerland), join our new alumni community! Stay connected by signing up for our newsletter, joining the WhatsApp group, or emailing us at dach@paismovement.com to find out how you can get involved.

If you’re from the rest of the world, join our global alumni network on Facebook, and continue to follow our journey (see the button below)

Seeking God’s Kingdom doesn’t stop after your twenties or apprenticeship. Pais’ work continues, and so can your involvement.
Let’s keep building together!

The Impact of the Pais Youth Academy in Pakistan

Hope In Islamabad
The Impact of the Pais Youth Academy in Pakistan

Author: Sakhawat, Pais Pakistan National Director

UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-0"));

As Pakistan approaches its status as the largest Islamic nation by 2032, it faces challenges such as religious intolerance, economic struggles and even poverty. Despite its founding vision of inclusivity in 1947, increasing Islamization has led to significant hardships for religious minorities, including Christians. So the work of the Pais Movement has become increasingly vital.

Christians in Pakistan face long-standing persecution, manifesting in violence, discrimination, and stringent blasphemy laws fueled by religious extremism. This persecution is compounded by systemic discrimination, leading to widespread poverty among Christians. Many are relegated to low-paying jobs, limiting their economic mobility and stability.

Pais in Pakistan
“It’s been inspiring to see Pais Pakistan grow stronger each year despite challenges.” says Sakhawat, the National Director of Pais Pakistan.

Our mission has gained momentum through dedicated outreach and community engagement. Looking ahead, we’re passionate about guiding young people to discover Christ and experience life-changing faith, build up local churches, and extend our impact across Asia.”

“Our goal is to equip youth to become compassionate leaders who share Christ’s love and their personal stories with others.”

Pais Movement all around the world gives the opportunity to create a bridge between schools and the local church. Apprentices serve alongside a team leader to help anyway they can, being a light in the darkness.
In Pais Pakistan it’s the same. Our three areas where we impact Pakistan are through;

mission by reaching out to communities, discipleship by guiding people to spiritual growth, and Bible study by providing valuable resources and training.”

UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-1"));“Our main purpose is to train and equip ordinary young people,

to do extraordinary things for His Kingdom”

A Triumph for the Pais Youth Academy

On July 10th, 2024 our Pais Youth Academy (PYA) event exceeded all expectations.
While we initially planned for 25-30 children and youth, we were in awe when more than 140 students arrived, eager to experience the Haverim Bible study program. We didn’t even prepare enough PYA shirts to hand each student!
The day was filled with group prayers, worship, engaging Bible study, face painting, Bible quizzes, and games. Parents and local pastors were impressed by the Haverim method’s ability to connect with the youth, and participants were excited to receive their own Haverim templates. As pastors prayed over the Pais team, they expressed a desire for more PYA events across Pakistan, sparking a wider movement!

Through our dedicated efforts, Pais Pakistan continues to drive positive change. We invite you to celebrate the progress and support our mission to further impact lives and communities across the nation.

We Praise God for what he is doing in this country, and seek to expand further each year with your prayers and your support!

Is the Christianity you’ve experienced, different to the one Jesus intended?

Embracing a ‘Kingdom-Centric’ Approach in Christianity & Church

Author: Paul Clayton Gibbs, author of ‘Talmidim: How to Disciple Anyone in Anything’.

UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-7")); UNCODE.initRow(document.getElementById("row-unique-8"));

Have you noticed there are two types of Christianity? While the Christian-centric gospel prioritizes personal transformation, the Kingdom-centric gospel compels us to transform our world. Both are Christianity, but one represents the kind of religion Jesus witnessed and the other, the kind He wanted.

In his latest book, Kingdom Centric: Reframing Christianity, Paul Clayton Gibbs guides you through a series of awkward questions to help align your thoughts and practices to God’s true purpose for your life. When God’s people return to who He created us to be and lead others to do the same, we give God what He wants: His Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven. Take the free appraisal to discover how Kingdom-centric you are, and then use the ten ‘pivots’ in this book to revolutionize your relationship with God.

If you have ever questioned whether the Christianity you experience is what Jesus had in mind, you will find this book revolutionary, practical, and full of insights that make sense.

An Interview w/ the Pais Founder

30 Years of Fresh Vision

According to Barna research, 47% of Christian Leaders have seriously considered quitting ministry.

TBN UK recently broadcasted an interview with Pais Movement’s founder, Paul Clayton Gibbs to discover why, after 30 years, is Paul still passionately pursing God’s vision?

During the interview Paul described how Pais Movement has been transforming the lives of young people in schools and communities across the world, and shared about how he came to discover the methods that Jesus used to commission his disciples.

The discovery of these methods has led to the development of the templates that Pais uses today to equip people in evangelism, discipleship, and Bible study.

“I’m about doing things the way that Jesus did. How did Jesus read and study scripture? How did Jesus disciple? Is that different from what we do today, and how do we rediscover that?”

These questions have led Paul to observe two different types of Christianity being practiced in today’s world – Christian-centric and Kingdom-centric. Paul describes Christian-centric Christianity as one that is self-focused: To pursue a good life, God’s way, so that he gives us what we want. Conversely,
Kingdom-centric Christianity is focused on pursing the heart of the King: To pursue God’s Kingdom, God’s way, so that we give him what he wants.

The pursuit of God’s kingdom above all else is the driving force behind Paul’s continued passion after 30 years, and the fuel used to propel Pais Movement into the future.

Pais 5-IN-1 Studio: Empower young leaders worldwide by supporting the build of our new training studio!

Pais 5-IN-1 Studio: Empower young leaders worldwide by supporting the build of our new training studio!

We are extending our reach!

According to a survey by The Barna Group in 2022, 94% of Christians made the decision to follow Jesus by the age of 18.

This highlights the importance of equipping young adults with unique tools to pioneer new mission ventures among teens and communities. At Pais, we have over 30 years of experience doing just that!

There is now a great need to multiply our impact beyond our own leaders.

Our goal is to increase the weekly interactive training we provide to 10,000 young leaders and 250,000 students by building the MyPais 5-in-1 Studio.

Our new Global Headquarters will include:

•Conference Studio: for recording conferences
•Training Studio: for weekly interactive training lessons
•Mini Studio: for short social media tips
•Roundtable Studio: for Q&A discussions around key topics
•Audio Studio: for podcasts and audiobooks

We need to raise $100,000 to extend our reach. The good news is that we have a pledge of a matching fund of $50,000!

Double your impact with our matching fund. Together, we can empower young adults worldwide to pioneer innovative initiatives.
