My Summer Reading List

If you read Entertainment Weekly, then you might have seen its recent list of the summer's 20 must-read books. I'm proud to say that FINAL GIRLS was among them, a fact that thrilled me to no end.

But perusing the other books on the list got me thinking about what I'll be reading this summer while everyone else is (hopefully) reading FINAL GIRLS.

It wasn't easy to narrow down my choices. I have the same problem as the rest of you: So many books, so little time. But here are five that I'll definitely make time for this summer.

MAD by Chloe Esposito
Confession: Chloe and I have the same editor. That being said, this book would go on my list even if we didn't. I mean, it's about a trainwreck of a woman who steals her dead twin's identity! Who wouldn't want to read that?

ARE YOU SLEEPING by Kathleen Barber
I love true-crime stories like "Serial" and "Making a Murderer." So, you can bet I'm excited about this tale of a murder victim's daughter being thrown in the media spotlight after a hit podcast reopens the case.

SEE WHAT I HAVE DONE by Sarah Schmidt
I've long been fascinated by the Lizzie Borden story. When I heard about this fictionalized account of the infamous murders, I immediately added it to my to-read list.

THE ADDRESS by Fiona Davis
I might be a wee bit obsessed with the Dakota, that famous apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side. This work of historical fiction calls the Dakota home, and I can't wait to roam its storied halls.

BEFORE THE FALL by Noah Hawley
Yes, I'm cheating here. This thriller about the survivors of a deadly plane crash came out LAST summer, but I just never found the right time to start reading it. I plan to change that this year, especially after it won the Edgar Award for Best Novel.

That's my shortlist. I'm curious to hear what the rest of you plan on reading this summer. I'm always looking for book recommendations. Give me a shout-out if you know of something you'll think I'll enjoy!
