I'm an Earphones Award Winner!
Well, this is pretty thrilling. I just received an email from AudioFile Magazine (the #1 source globally for audiobook reviews and recommendations). They just told me they reviewed my recently released audiobook of The Key to Circus-Mom Highway.
That was exciting in itself because only a small percentage of audiobooks submitted are chosen for review. When I went to the review page, I found that not only was it reviewed, but that I had been named an Earphones Award Winner by the magazine!

I had a great deal of fun bringing back some of the old acting skills from my former life so many years ago. I even thought it might be fun to record them for other authors' books as well. This award for my very first audiobook reinforced that idea. Now I just need to get my narrator profile set up on ACX (for Audible) and on Findaway Voices. (In all my free time... Lol)

My audiobook! Wooo hooo!!!
Omg, I thought it would NEVER be ready. I had originally thought that the actual recording of the audiobook would be the most labor-intensive work. No. The editing was more labor-intensive. But the most difficult work of all was getting the specifications for Audible correct. Holy guacamole....
I had heard that ACX (Audible's audiobook production platform) was maddening because things that should be passing according to your engineer are still inexplicably rejected for being out of the correct range. I had read someone's story about it taking them 2 years to get it corrected. (Sorry, but I'm not that patient.) For a while, I was wondering if I was going to have to re-record the whole thing from scratch. But after several months of repeated adjustments, each file upload, as I held my breath... FINALLY PASSED. (cue trumpets)
The book is available on Audible, but it's also available on other audiobook sites as well. Because libraries don't deal with Audible and I want it available to people who get their audiobooks from their library's "Libby" system (like my niece - ironically, also named Libby.)
I was a former actress for many years on stage and TV, and though I have no interest in getting back into that, it was actually great fun bringing the ol' acting chops back into play while recording my audiobook. It was so much fun, in fact, that I'm thinking I may record other people's audiobooks too...
