Amy DeMeritt is an author of Sapphic romance and an occasional poet. She is a lover of the arts, coffee and tea, a day of sitting on the beach watching the waves crashing against the shore, and good books and music to get lost in. (A good thunderstorm is one of her favorite forms of music.)

Amy takes inspiration from every experience in life and gives her imagination full reign to take a small detail and expand it into an intricate tale. Weaving experience, interests, and even pushing the boundaries of personal comfort, Amy’s stories take a reader on a journey of varying emotions and the joys and trials of love, romance, and growing as an individual, all of which are embodied in an entertaining plot with complex characters.

I'm so sorry I didn't see your message sooner! Yes, geese are primarily herbivores, but as is the case with many herbivores, their diet can vary depending on the availability of their preferred food sources. Geese have been known to eat insects and small fish, and it's pretty common in my area. We have a lot of Canadian geese where I live - I like to sit on the riverbank and watch them and I've seen more than a few gobble up a fish and snap pestering dragonflies out of the air...lol. Our river is pretty polluted, so maybe that has something to do with it. (less)

Writing My Mimosa Pudica

I was getting ready to take out the recycling, and I thought it might be fun to share some of the research that went into writing My Mimosa Pudica.

1.      Mariana is a proud Mexican-American and bilingual, so I had to teach myself some Spanish. I’ve never been very good at picking up second languages. I took French in high school and barely passed the class. I’m better at reading and writing than

“you have to learn that sometimes it’s better to ask for help than to be able to say, ‘I did that all by myself.’ Thinking like that can lead you down a dark and lonely and very exhausting road. You don’t need to be able to do everything. Life isn’t made great by being able to list a ton of things you can do; it’s made great by your experiences and the people you share them with.”
