Fingers on the Keyboard
The holiday season has always been void of a regular writing routine for me. I’ve come to adjust my expectations to align with the hiatus rather than beat myself up over it, an emotional tug-of-war I struggled with for too long.
Sure, I use a computer everyday for just about everything except advancing my current writing projects, but the touch of my fingers on the keyboard is different. It’s a fast-paced check-list of getting things done for our family, essential for our sane survival through a school break of two and a half weeks.
Today, I sit at my computer with a single focus, feeling the Cirdacian Rhythm of my fingers begin to settle into their comfortable positions, each row of the keyboard a fluid motion. I am grateful and at peace with the quiet that surrounds me for a few moments of uninterrupted thoughts. A new season is beginning, I can feel it.

Writing Is My Job, Sometimes
I’m in a groove that has me writing daily (again) and I like it. In fact, I love it! But the truth is, I won’t keep this up forever. Thinking back over the last decade, my writing has gone through spurts that generally align with our family schedule. If the kids are in school, I write more. If they’re on break, there’s a very good chance that my writing is also on break.
I also have a highly regarded talent for saying “yes” to invitations to join committees, volunteer and allow myself to be present in places that keep me from writing. So this school year, I’m setting one solid goal for myself. Hoping that one is reasonable to maintain, I’ve upped my weekly writing goals and I’ve given up a standing commitment I’ve had every Wednesday morning for eight years, in order to accomplish this task. I’ve committed to fill that space of time with story development and actual writing–nothing and no one else should replace the intended goal on Wednesday mornings.
For the time being, writing is my job…and I’m stickin’ to it!

Here's the synopsis:
“I walked on pins and needles my entire life, until I got a place of my own. I’m speaking literally, and believe me, I tried to get out earlier.”
Esteemed local news anchor, Marley Christopher, accepts the network’s request to endorse a nationwide drug abuse awareness campaign, unsuspecting of its significance in her personal life. Profound love for her daughter, Alex, contradicts the loathsome disdain she feels for her mother, Iris. Lifelong conflicts intensify when a bond between her mother and daughter ignites a spark that threatens to change everything.
A kaleidoscope of broken pieces anchored in resentment and blame, Don’t Judge A Girl By Her Mother, presents a powerful connection between words, drugs, and their abilities to wound or heal. ...more
