Wild Flowers
by Merie Robie
Genre: Contemporary Women’s Fiction

Three elder stateswomen in the music industry, scarred by
scandal, addiction, and forced retirement, go all in to create a killer
comeback album. As they learn to trust themselves and dive back into
songwriting, they entwine their lives and voices in ways they couldn’t have
imagined alone.
Everyone has forgotten about soul singer Honey Conaway,
except that she stabbed a producer’s eye out at a party and left drunk and
stumbling like some glitzy Medea. Everyone loves Gloria Redmond: Girls grew up
listening to her country-tinged, smart-alecky tunes, but she has become
irrelevant past her prime. And everyone knows Sian Star, not for her time
fronting the pop band The Whirlygirls, but for driving a red Porsche into the
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. When these three women create an award-winning
comeback album together, each is challenged by the version of herself that
pushed her out of the spotlight in the first place.
What readers
are saying:
“A beautiful novel about three vibrant, memorable
women who refuse to abandon their passion for music despite their struggles
with aging, caretaking, and the frustration of thwarted dreams. Gloria, Honey,
and Sian are an inspiring reminder that nothing is over until it’s over.”
Jane Delury, Author of Hedge
“Drop the needle on this power chord of a novel and
feel it pull you in. A resonant story about friendship, songwriting, and
serendipity, and about how all of us, even aging country stars, can reinvent
ourselves.” — Elisabeth Cohen, author of The Glitch.

CRIMSON MIRAGE
CRIMSON MIRAGE
Babujee
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Political Psychological Thriller
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Naïve Passionate Dangerous.
Manush is all of these—and more. Caught between the heat of first love and the fire of revolution, he confuses desire with destiny and activism with annihilation. What begins with tender hope ends in blood-soaked betrayal.
Set against the turbulent backdrop of Calcutta’s Naxalite uprising, this haunting debut novel unravels the journey of a boy-turned-assassin—his convictions twisted, his soul scarred, his story unforgettable.
The author grew up in the heart of this upheaval, witnessing firsthand how political fervor tore through families and futures. Crimson Mirage is not just fiction—it’s a reckoning. A meditation on blind love, brutal reprisals, and the elusive promise of freedom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT
WASH YOUR HANDS!” the ice-cold voice cut through the stillness of the crisp mountain air and broke through his zombie state.
Manush didn’t remember how long he had been sitting on the rock!
The sun had slid slowly, silently below the horizon of the San Bernardino Mountains. The wind was freshening. The clouds riding the salty air of the Pacific Ocean were changing shade, from angry yellow to flaming crimson, in the harsh, upward glare of a late sunset hour. Venus was still the brightest speck in the sky in the midst of the orange-gold scatter of softly gathering twilight.
From not too far off, a mountain goat with cloven hooves—browsing brush and low-growing shrubs—sidled up to him, fixing its malevolent, yellow gaze on him. Far overhead, a homebound chickadee went ‘chickadee-dee-dee’ as it traced its solitary path eastwards.
To the northwest, the cliffs fell sheer to the ravine below, their surface unbroken. The shadows were lengthening across the vast valley lying snugly among the hills. And now, there were blotches of darkness slowly eating away the green. But the full umbra of the sun’s retirement was yet to descend upon the sprawling, rugged landscape.
“Wash your hands!” the voice was insistent in its urgency.
Manush sat upright with a start. He convulsed—first in astonishment, then with fear—as he looked incredulously at Jeevan.
Jeevan was smiling… his usual shy, reassured smile. He had not aged at all! His thick black hair swept back from his forehead, the creaseless, unblemished young skin on his face a contrast to the light growth of hair on his chin. Jeevan looked just like the post-mortem photograph the police had shown him.
You Can Check Out…
but Can Never Leave
I did not realize how it had invaded my space, taking over my novel, until I finished it. I am talking about the city of Calcutta—now Kolkata.
When I started writing my upcoming novel, The Crimson Mirage, I followed the protagonist, Manush—tracing his life, education, politics, and the upheavals in his life. As expected, most of the action took
place in the city. Only after I had finished did I realize how deeply the story was imbued with Calcutta, not just as a backdrop but as an active character.
Although not born in the city, I grew up ‘on the footpaths (pavements) of Calcutta’. This expression does not mean we were homeless, led a life of crime, or went hungry. It only means we did not lead a sheltered, middle-class existence of home-school-coaching classes-singing lessons-and then back home. We played football (soccer) on the streets; fought on the street with other ‘hoods’ of the locality to ‘protect’ our ‘turf’ (the para); broke our neighbor’s windowpane with a misguided throw; and were ‘trained’ by our dadas (seniors) in how to tackle the Mounted Police while trying to scale the wooden fence to get into the football ground—the Calcutta Maidan—ticketless.
We eventually grew up. We heard the whispered poetry in the air, then felt it. While weaving our way drunk through the narrow bylanes and alleys of North Calcutta, I saw:
‘Where walls touch walls…
Pavements blend as one’*
That narrow serpentine lane was lined with decrepit, centuries-old buildings. Their cracked and faded façade was a shroud for the novel’s secret Naxalite meetings.
Or, standing on the railway bridge, gazing at the reflected moon on the shiny rails running down the tracks, I gently recited:
‘Or is it possible
That your friend is no more?
You stand on the rail bridge, alone.’**
My friend had jumped from the bridge a few days earlier.
That quest, the loss, found its way into Manush’s search for his beloved at Sunny Park. He had no address, no direction—just the name of a locality. In a desperate bid to perpetuate the tender kiss he had shared with her in a dark, dingy North Calcutta restaurant, he gazed wonderingly at every open window and balcony, hoping to find her.
But the blood of an innocent man weighed heavy on his aching heart. Manush did not know that Mita was already lost to him. Many years later, their last meeting would be a heartbreaking experience, and the song, Lyin’ Eyes, would play with deafening certainty in his mind, as if to mock him.
The dirty, congested city would reveal itself at night—with love and cruelty, life and death, peace and extreme turmoil! The city was a jungle that followed no rules, no moral codes; it was dangerous, yet beautiful. One could find trouble in a second’s indiscretion. It was not for the faint-hearted.
On June 28, 1986, I checked out of the city. As the Delhi-Kalaka Mail pulled out of Howrah Station, I looked ruefully at the disappearing platform, certain that I would return as soon as possible. But that was the ‘goodbye’. I was never to live in the city permanently again; the flow of time would carry me to the other side of the globe. Yet, like Hotel California, I checked out but could never leave. That city returned with a roar in The Crimson Mirage.
From the crematorium, where vibrant life danced in step with funeral processions, to the pigeon-hole restaurants where lovers poured their hearts out, and the Coffee House, where the city’s intellectual prowess threw angry sparks all around—Calcutta flows through the novel.
I had never really left the city…it remains with me, frozen in time.
This is not your typical wedding planning book. Chapter titles alone will tell you what needs to be done, and the subtitles break it down further. The book includes tips, advice, stories, templates, and a notebook to keep track of everything.
All the other books, magazine articles, Instagram and Pinterest timeline posts state on the “day of” to have a good breakfast. They don’t mention the people that take care of all the duties and tasks throughout the day so you can be VIP guests at your own wedding.
There is more to planning a perfect “day of” than you think – believe me.
So, you can enjoy the days up to as much as the “day of”, this book will help.
The Reality is: 3 things are kept – your spouse, the ring, and your photographs. All the rest is but a fading memory over time. You most likely have read the saying “don’t sweat the small stuff” or as I suggest, we rewrite it for wedding planning to state “plan for the small stuff details and you won’t sweat”.
I have been married since 1973 – the oops, challenges and happenings – they all happened at our wedding and at least one of them happens at every wedding. Some things never change. This book will help you Plan for them, Minimize them and Smile through them.
This wedding planning book will help you to succeed in putting on a memorable, unique, and stress free wedding. Forge onward through these pages to discover the secret to learning how to pull it all together by just following the easy 5 steps.
Included is the industry insider stuff such as what the vendors and suppliers would like you to do, ask them and the reason why it is important. Through this direction you will acquire the knowledge of what questions to ask your vendors and suppliers. All you must do is fill in the blanks on the easy to complete templates supplied for all the steps.
As I said earlier, this is not your typical wedding planning book filled with wedding dress styles, centerpiece designs and how to walk down the aisle at the ceremony. Everyone has access to that in books, internet, and visuals on Pinterest. This book has the real stuff you need to know. It is a gift you give yourself to be happy and successful in the whole exciting process of your wedding planning.
This book shares real stories (to make a point, relate to real people and tips to make it easy) and of course professional advice.
About the Author: I knew that our youngest daughter was going to be engaged soon, so I enrolled at BCIT and got my wedding and event planning credentials in 2005. I changed careers from corporate sales analyst to something that puts meaning and joy into my life every day. In no time I put it to good use: one daughter married in 2006 and the other in 2007. I retired in 2020 but continued to expand my world. I paint and am a miniature hobbyist—both produce a connection with a memory that I want to preserve and share. I wrote this book as a memory for me, and as an educational reference book to educate you all. My goal is to make planning a wedding a wonderful experience.
Michael Wendroff
is the author of What Goes Around, a
debut thriller published by Bloomsbury, which bestselling author Eric Rickstad
calls a “brilliant debut,” and bestselling author Lisa Black says, “starts off
at a breakneck pace and doesn’t let up until it reaches its unexpected
conclusion.” Plus, #1 bestselling author J.D. Black says, “Relentless and
gritty, Wendroff expertly weaves a narrative that begs, ‘just one more page…’”
The book was
inspired by what his mother said to him the second he was born: “Oh! How nice
to see you–Again!”
Michael has an MBA
in marketing from NYU, and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. He is a global
marketing consultant. He shares his time between New York City, Sarasota,
Florida, and Lake Garda, Italy. He is married and has three wonderful children.
His mother was an
editor (watching his mother scribbling in red ink on manuscript pages at home
on weekends prepared him for his own editor’s comments!). She remarried a
literary agent, so Michael was friendly with many authors, and even spent a
vacation with Robert Ludlum. Watching Ludlum hand-write his 450 page novels on
yellow legal pads didn’t dissuade Michael from trying to write a novel (though
he’s thankful for his PC).
What Goes Around was launched in the USA, UK, and Australia,
and foreign language rights have been sold in Italian, Japanese, and Hungarian.
The hardcover went through 3 printings, and now the trade paperback is
available (along with audio book and e-book).
Fun fact:
Michael’s great-grandfather was brought over by Thomas Edison from the
University of Copenhagen to work with him. He holds a number of patents,
including for plastic buttons. Michael proudly wears button- down shirts
whenever he can.
SHADOWSLAYERS
SHADOWSLAYERS
Colin Sephton
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Steampunk Fantasy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
When doppelgangers start appearing in Oxford, Union Jack agents Ignatius and Indigo find themselves on another cosmic quest, one they didn’t set out to investigate.
Drawn into the search for the elusive and dangerous Book of Shadows, they find themselves traveling across the cosmos once again, racing against other versions of themselves, and visiting the Oracle to be given prophecies of terrible destruction that will engulf the cosmos in darkness. Only these two heroes—or their doubles—can open the book, which would lead to dreadful consequences for themselves, the world and the whole of creation.
The agents must outwit their own mirror souls and invade the impregnable Administorium, which holds the answers they need but also fearsome enemies of both the Union Jacks and the entire cosmos. In this quest, Ignatius and Indigo must protect not only England and the Empire, but the world and the cosmos.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT
As the shadowy figure moved from shelf to shelf, ornate gilt decoration caught what dim light there was on his grey-turquoise armour. Carvings of ancient scribes and tomes written to record the passing of aeons on many worlds across many planes. The books he tended were part of the vast repository of information that he had collected through his long lifetime. Books here took the form of sacred texts carved in clay, or written on scrolls of vellum, or even human skin. Enormous tooled leather-bound volumes with gilt pages or with golden clasps, some were chained and bound, their knowledge too dangerous to be shared or accessed by mere mortals. The shelves had been arranged by subject and ordered in a timeline for each category. There wasn’t any index system. The Librarian worked using only his memory, knowing each and every volume, regardless of when it was written or when it was obtained. Nothing was forgotten, his memory was a storehouse of wisdom and knowledge from across the cosmos.
With his brother and sister, they had probably gathered the entire history of the cosmos. From time to time, they would travel the astral planes in search of new knowledge and rendezvous every millennium to discuss and compare notes to set quests for each of them to fulfil in the search of even more ancient texts. Legend had it the three siblings were born of the Goddess of Wisdom and their father was a High Priest of the Ti-Botta.

Q & A With Colin Sephton about Shadowslayers
Tell us about you as a person.
I am 59 and was born in Warwickshire, England and worked in the automotive industry for over twenty years before becoming an Engineering teacher. I have always had an inbuilt curiosity for lost knowledge and ancient texts that may help to unlock the secrets of consciousness and the universe. I lived in Oxford for thirteen years, which is where my knowledge of the city comes from to use in my novels. I have now moved back to my home county of Warwickshire where I enjoy creating and working with my wife on our large garden in which I write and entertain our two grandsons. I have always been an artist and writer and am inspired by the worlds created by Robert E Howard and Michael Moorcock, with the artwork of Frank Frazetta
If you could hang out with one famous person for one day, who would it be and why?
If I could hang out with anyone famous, it would have to be Leonardo da Vinci. Such a genius and an all-round scientist, architect, engineer and artist. His powers of observation were remarkable, to the point that he knew something about the human heart that modern science has only just discovered recently. I would also like to know if his assistant actually got to fly using his design for an aeroplane!
What’s the story behind your latest book?
Its about the discovery of the Book of Shadows which is difficult to find, without giving away too much plot. Early on doppelgangers start appearing in Oxford, and the two protagonists Ignatius and Indigo find themselves on a cosmic quest. Racing against other versions of themselves, and visiting the Oracle they are given prophecies of terrible destruction that will engulf the cosmos in darkness. Opening the book is like a Pandora’s box, leading to dreadful consequences for themselves, the world and the whole of creation. In doing so, they must protect not only England and the Empire, but the world and the cosmos. I think it’s much darker than the first novel in the trilogy, Timeslayers.
What advice do you have for other writers who want to get the word out about their latest book?
My advice to anyone starting out is to not be shy. Pick a social media platform, or several, and keep posting. Make yourself be heard. You never know where opportunities may crop up.
List 5 things on your bucket list.
I don’t have a bucket list, I have never felt the need to have one, I have been very fortunate in my life where I have been able to visit India, China, Morocco, lots of Europe and worked in Japan temporarily over the course of a year. I love Japan, the culture and the ability to be at one with nature, instead of fighting against it. It’s probably the only place other than the UK I would like to live. I think it has shaped my outlook on life quite a lot.
Any final thoughts?
I never thought I would be the author of a published trilogy, so if you want to write, just do it! Whatever you want to say, just get it down on paper or a PC. You can always go back and refine it or edit it. But never delete anything, just park it somewhere else, you never know when it might come in handy.

Dorothy’s Gift

A modern-day, inspiring story of two women who, when their
paths merge discover love, growth and redemption that changes their lives
forever.

Dorothy’s Gift
By Christine C. Schneider
Genre: Women’s Fiction

Dorothy is content with her life as a wedding seamstress.
She loves her two adult children, her husband, and her church. She is gifted
with the ability to turn heaps of pink satin, lemon-yellow chiffon, and white
lace into exquisite gowns. Her clients are beautiful, well-bred, and pay her
well. Dorothy doesn’t like change, but even volunteering at the crisis
pregnancy center doesn’t shake her peaceful life too much. She does what she
can to offer help to women who are dealing with real, life-changing decisions.
Then Bailey wanders into the clinic: angry, abrasive, and hiding the pain of a
dark secret.
In a moment of wild compassion, Dorothy convinces her wonderfully supportive
husband, Gary, to allow her to invite Bailey to live with them until the baby
is born.
Suddenly, Dorothy’s life is overwhelmed by change, and unable to keep up,
Dorothy makes some huge errors in judgment. Instead of helping Bailey,
everything Dorothy does seems to hurt the girl more.
Only Dorothy’s son, Daniel, begins to recognize Bailey’s potential, as he sees
her reach out to support Dorothy when Gary has a heart attack and her daughter
has a miscarriage. Meanwhile, Bailey is suffocated by the realization that this
wonderful, loving family would not want her if they knew that she had allowed
her first child to be aborted.
As Dorothy sews her way through a year of weddings, Bailey challenges Dorothy’s
compassion and points out her lukewarm, Christian hypocrisy. The poor girl
doesn’t know how to clean her room, run a washing machine, or cut up a
cucumber. In addition, Dorothy’s church doesn’t want “people like Bailey” to
taint their youth and college group. Worst of all, her son, Daniel, has decided
to try to win the heart of Bailey. As the year progresses, Dorothy is
confronted with her own ungodly self-centeredness, lack of spiritual depth, and
stubborn resistance to changing her plans for herself and her family.
This is the story of the growth of love between a young woman in need of a
mother and a mother with enough love for more than her own two children.
What Readers are Saying:
I finished the book because I couldn’t stop reading. I love the story, I
love the characters, I love the message, I love the writing style, I love it
all. I want to go back so I can better appreciate the character development and
story arc. I cried multiple times throughout the book.
—Betty, missionary and missionary wife in Kenya
Carolyn’s Rewrite
The book was hard to put down until it was finished. Dorothy is an empty
nester, encouraged by her son to volunteer at a pregnancy center. She does, but
struggles some since her gifts to help are not typical to other volunteers. She
connects with one woman, Bailey, who has made some bad decisions and needs a
role model. The book answers the real question about what is more important in
life. –Carolyn, Austria

that hasn’t happened.
My personal life isn’t much better. I’ve been in love with my adopted brother,
Lucas Stone, since I was thirteen, but he thinks of me more like an annoying
kid sister than a full-grown woman, but what can I do? I had gotten good at
suppressing my feelings until the kiss. For a brief moment, I thought he had
feelings for me too, until he puked on my sneakers.
Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse. I find myself in the
crosshairs of a murderous deputy and my estranged grandfather gets released
from prison and promptly sues for custody of me. Hello? Did he forget I’m an
adult?
Law enforcement isn’t for the fainthearted. Are you brave enough to enter my
world? This time Armageddon is coming to Arizona.
What Readers
are saying:
“Stilettos and Whiskey was another high-octane
entertainment read from the Gemma Stone series that puts the romp in romantic
suspense.” – Sophia Rose, Reviewer
“This book is sooo good! I couldn’t stop laughing, she
killed it with the humor. Armageddon was the best, the whole series was great,
a must read.” – Chris, Reviewer
“I love this entire series. The only complaint I have is
they are never long enough.
These books are full of riotous doings with women who own their femininity and
their badassery. Add in the kind of family we all wish we had, cops, Alpha
Dogs, bad guys, best friends, honor, shoot ’em ups, snark…the list goes on.
Whenever I need to forget life and grin I reread one of these books.” – Katy M,
Reviewer

Howdy. My name is Gail Koger and once upon a time I was a
9-1-1 dispatcher. Too many years of wild requests, screwy questions, bizarre
behavior and outrageous demands have left me with a permanent twitch and an
uncontrollable craving for chocolate. I took up writing science fiction romance
to keep from killing people. So far, it has worked.

My Name Is Death
“I am known to some as the Grim Reaper, or the Angel of
Death. Death is my preferred name. It’s stylish and modern, and it goes well
with my Armani suits. I don’t have a fascination with robes, scythes, or
skeletons, especially when I’m releasing souls.”
My Name Is Death
by Laura Daleo
Genre: Dark Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance
My Name Is Death takes the Grim Reaper concept in a creative
direction. Put aside the image of a scary, sickle-carrying, robe-clad entity.
There are no shortages of Italian suits, velvet neckties, and oxford shoes in
Death’s wardrobe.
Death encounters a terminally ill young lady, Annalise,
during a holiday in New Orleans. As she approaches the afterlife, Death wants
to ensure she makes the best of her final moments. It is not long before they
become friends.
A peaceful coexistence between angels and humans is what God
desires. This plan is contrary to one of God’s other sons’ belief that angels
are far superior to humans.
Devastation begins, and only God knows how it will end.
“Nothing in life is certain except death and taxes. I
hold this statement in high regard. Why? There are two possibilities. I could
be a tax accountant-borrrinng-or I could be Death. If you guessed the latter,
advance to go and collect $200. My name can influence anyone in a room; some
say Grim Reaper, others say Angel of Death. I like to call myself Death. It has
a pleasant ring and a powerful effect on people. The way “Death”
embodies the style and pizazz of my attire, which includes Armani suits, ties,
and shoes, influenced my decision to select it as my name. It had never
occurred to me to dress in a dark robe, to carry a scythe or an hourglass, or
to assume a skeleton physique.”

I was born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. A
creative writing class in junior high ignited my passion for storytelling;
however, it was Anne Rice who truly inspired me. Her novel, Interview With The
Vampire, has become one of the best-selling books of all time and fueled my
desire to craft my own vampire legend. In 1996, I created Immortal Kiss, which
patiently waited until 2014 for its publication.
At present, my published works include Immortal Kiss, Bound
by Blood, The Vow, The Vampire Within, The Soul Collector, The Doll, Once We
Were Witches, and My Name Is Death. My current project is an urban fantasy
titled The Wolf Experiment.
Here are some fun facts about me: I love enjoying Starbucks
coffee while I write. I’m also obsessed with shoes. I have two furry kids named
Rose and Cooper. And, of course, I’m a huge fan of all things vampire.
