David Lloyd is the independent author of the novel, Gulf Coast City and founder and president of Premier Press Publishing. The voyage from the first word recorded on his computer to final published copy took seven years. In that time David discovered and fell in love with the world of reading, writing and publishing. Things like beta readers, line editors, book cover designers and self publishing were all very new and very daunting, but David persevered and was able to fulfill his dream of publishing a book.

But I will say this, don’t go with the first self-publishing company that looks good. In fact if you know your way around the internet then you can pretty much do it all yourself. Createspace is simple and inexpensive. Beta readers and line editors are out there. And cover designers are too. The best books I read on marketing your book were written by Joanna Penn. Get yourself an author website, Facebook page and get on Goodreads. I have found most of the people on Goodreads are very helpful as long as you don’t ram your book down their throat.

The final draft is currently sitting in the 5th, or is it 6th Beta Reader's computer. When the report comes back, providing he has not beat up on me too badly, I will make some minor corrections. After this the book will go to Deb Rhodes of Better Beta Reads for line editing. The finished novel will be somewhere around 385 pages and is scheduled to be published on Amazon this December.(less)
