“أغراها مشهد الطّفلين وهما يلطّخان ثيابهما الجميلة، آية تسكب الحليب على صدرها، ورياض يلطّخ جميع ملابسه بالمرق وهو يرمق أمّه بحذر بين الفينة والأخرى لمعرفة ما إن كانت تلاحظه أم لا. تخيّلت نفسَها تكوّن أسرة صغيرة تحت سقف بسيط، وتمرّ عليها السّنون لتجد نفسها قد شاخت بجانب زوجها وأمام أولادها. امتدّت السّهرة لساعات. انضمت وهيبة لمساعدة كهينة في غسل الصّحون الّتي تكوّمت فوق المَجْلَى،كما تركت لزوجها الاهتمامَ بالصّغيرين ومراقبة رياض بعدما أرضعت آية ووضعتها في السّرير.واستمرّت الأختان في السّمر حتّى ساعات متأخّرة من اللّيل.”
