Curious characters

Loved the characters, setting and mystery. Way it wrapped up things felt abrupt, but that's a personal feeling. Otherwise a real pageturner.

“I’d forgive you for not having an inkling of who I am if you glimpsed me from a distance. You have your own idea of what a Gypsy is, I’m sure. We all make instant judgements. ’Tis our second thoughts that count. But I’m confident you’d be wrong with first, and second, impressions.”
E. L. Parfitt, A Gypsy's Curse

“Not everyone has to get along, or can be expected to show respect to one another, for we differ in how we would like to be treated. Misunderstanding is inevitable.”

“It was late when father and the Duke tracked me down feigning surprise that I was in the usual place every time as if it was a game they played, “Where’s Rose? Why, growing in her usual spot!”
E L Parfitt, Shattered Roses

“It’s hard to tell sometimes if Etheny’s stories are true, as you will see, so I will lay down the story as she told it to me to allow you to decide for yourself.”
E L Parfitt, Skeleton Cat

“The tragedy in the lives of most of us is that we go through life walking down a high-walled land with people of our own kind, the same economic situation, the same national background and education and religious outlook. And beyond those walls, all humanity lies, unknown and unseen, and untouched by our restricted and impoverished lives.”
Florence Luscomb

“That night three friends lie in their beds trying to ignore the instructive moon. Its gravity unravels heavy thoughts from the spindle of the soul. Thoughts of friendship … thoughts of things that were said and that shouldn’t have been.”
