The Food of Iceland

Fermented shark anyone? That's a delicacy in the Icelandic culinary scene. I'm guessing ponnakukar with Nutella might be more to most of my followers likings. In Iceland, ponnakukars are a savory thin pancake, think crepe with more bulk, that can host many different fillings, sweet or savory. Hearty fixings keep the population of the northern island, where grocery store stock items may be hard to come by if the deliveries from the mainland are hampered by weather, well-fed.
These are a few of the fascinating tidbits I learned as I researched Iceland food culture for the plot of my latest book, Serving Up Spite. In the book, a murder occurs that is directly involved with a cook-off with Icelandic connections and the more information the investigators have about the island's cuisine the higher the likelihood the murderer will be stopped before he/she strikes again. Come along for a rip-roaring ride from start to finish and find out for yourself whether this is our favorite cooking contester, Sherry Oliveri's, last cook-off or the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

Fourth of July Cook-off

HI! I hope you get a chance to read my new book Guilty As Charred. My main character, Sherry, is asked to organize a cook-off for the 4th of July. She's usually the cook behind the competition stove and is feeling uneasy about her talents as organizer of the hobby she loves. Oh and there's the matter of the murder mystery she's trying to solve at the same time! Mayhem. intrigue, humor and good food all make for a good time in coastal CT.
