Author Update: Open and Vulnerable on the Internet
tw: anxiety, depression, trauma
I’m 23 today. As a gift to myself, I’m being open and vulnerable on the internet.
The past 10 months have been some of the hardest of my life. I released my first novel. I released my first novella. I got my dream job. I quit my dream job. I traveled. I got sick. I found a new job. I moved in with my partner of four years. We got a cat. Our cat got sick. Most of these events are things that would make anyone feel stressed. Unfortunately, even though I knocked...

Author Update: Take Your Medicine Official Release
It’s hard to believe not even two months ago my first novel Seven-Sided Spy was released.
Now, I’m back again and happy to say my novella Take Your Medicine released today and is now available on all eformats.
This project had a funny way of coming to term. About a month after signing on with Nine Star Press there was an open submission for a little anthology called Once Upon a Rainbow. It was a collection of queer fairytale re-tellings. I had an inkling of...

Author Update: Seven-Sided Spy Official Release
As I sit here today, watching reviews pour in on goodreads, I am overwhelmed with one thought and one thought alone.
I can’t believe we made it.
If you had told me just two weeks before I got my offer from NineStar Press that I was about to find a home for Seven-Sided Spy I would have likely laughed in your face and said “good joke.”
I was in a really bad place. I’d just been rejected across the board from MFA programs around the country. I’d been facing rejection wi...

Author Update: That 10K Feeling
Everyone’s Been Askin’ “What’s Next?”
I know it’s been radio silence this last month. Over the last few weeks I have been prepping for/attending/ and debriefing from Camp Oasis, a program put on by the CCF to help kids with Crohn’s and colitis. I am still working on a blog post about that, but in the mean time I figured I’d share some news on what I’ve been writing over the last couple of months.
Since getting Seven-Sided Spy accepted for publication, I have been on a major upswing. I spe...

Author Update: New Publication Alert!
Over the Rainbow’s Never Looked this Good
Not to long ago, I shared an image on my facebook. It was just a small little word tally box and a promise that I’d completed a first draft. Family, Friends, and Fans alike came swarming, asking what this new project was about, but I had to withhold information until I was certain I had a publisher. I can now say that my 25k(ish) novella Take Your Medicine has been procured by NineStar Press and will be released in early 2018.
Take Your Medicine is...

Author Update: Editing, Round One!
WHAT I LEARNED IN ROUND ONE OF EDITING IS…
(Spoiler Alert: The answer is not to head-hop.) So, you’ve gotten the book deal. What next? The answer is almost always edits. Some people fear it; some people revel in it. Most of us just nervously await feedback and then frantically scribble once we have an editor’s requests in hand.
While a number of authors wait weeks, even months to hear from their editor due to overflow, I was lucky and got my edit requests literally the day I signed my contr...

Author Update: Well How Did that Happen?
So it’s official. My project Seven-Sided Spy has been picked up by NineStar Press and is set to release January 22, 2018. While you can expect a lot of updates from me on edits, cover art, and blog tours, one thing I’ve been getting asked a lot since the news broke is How? I like to imagine (read: tell myself at night) this question is asked because people are interested in publishing themselves and not because of the shock and awe.
I figured it’s time to tell my s...
