If it's a frustration based block, I'll stop writing and work on orders for my tea shop, "Blackthorn Hoodoo Blends" borne out of my lifelong study and practice of hoodoo. And if it progresses to the point beyond that, I make a writer's dolly out of paper at my desk, label it 'writer's block' and smack it on the desk a few times. /chuckle I look at writing like a job and I have to be disciplined about it or it'll never get done. I use a word count app to keep me honest. (less)

My favorite thing in the whole world is the 'lightbulb' moment when someone gets what I'm talking about and is able to put the puzzle pieces into place with where I'm at. I'm a hugely visual person, even smells have colors to me. When I can express something deeply meaningful and another person gets it on such a level, there's nothing better.(less)

A million stars (no spoilers)

This was a great read. All the best Stephanie tropes (minus one, no spoilers.) and a great ending. I can’t wait to read it again.

George Orwell
“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”
George Orwell

Bertrand Russell
“Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd.”
Bertrand Russell, Unpopular Essays

Eoin Colfer
“Humm humm haaa. Rahmumm humm haaaa," intoned Opal, finishing her chant. "Peace be inside me, tolerance all around me, forgiveness in my path. Now, Mervall, show me where the filthy human is so that I may feed him his organs.”
Eoin Colfer, The Time Paradox

Karen Marie Moning
“Most people are good and occasionally do something they know is bad. Some people are bad and struggle every day to keep it under control. Others are corrupt to the core and don’t give a damn, as long as they don’t get caught. But evil is a completely different creature, Mac. Evil is bad that believes it’s good.”
Karen Marie Moning, Shadowfever

William Shakespeare
“Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs;
Being purg'd, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;
Being vex'd, a sea nourish'd with lovers' tears;
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall, and a preserving sweet.”
William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
