Looking for a new book?

First, I'd like to thank everyone, for their support. Your feedback has been encouraging, as I continue the Legends of Breena story. This third book is going to be the last book dealing with Leelah and Dogan. Don't worry though, you will still see them as the adventure continues.

If you're looking for something to occupy your time, while you wait for book #3, listed below is some of my all-time favorite series. I was having difficulties on attaching links to the first books so I posted a picture of them instead. These authors are my inspiration and I do hope to someday have the following that they have. There's stories with dragons, fae, werewolves and other fantastical worlds. Enjoy!!

The Drakon series By: Shana Abe

For centuries they’ve lived in secret among northern England’s green and misted hills. Creatures of extraordinary beauty, power, and sensuality, they possess the ability to shape-shift from human to dragon and back again. Now their secret—and their survival—is threatened by a temptation that will break every boundary. . . .

The Green Rider series By: Kristen Britain

Taking on the golden-winged horse brooch that is the symbol of the Green Riders, Karigan is swept into a world of deadly danger and complex magic, her life forever changed. Compelled by forces she cannot understand, Karigan is accompanied by the silent specter of the fallen messenger and hounded by dark beings bent on seeing that the message, and its reluctant carrier, never reach their destination.

The Fever series By: Karen Marie Moning

MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks . . . until something extraordinary happens.

Riyria Revelations By: Michael J. Sullivan

Royce Melborn, a skilled thief, and his mercenary partner, Hadrian Blackwater, make a profitable living carrying out dangerous assignments for conspiring nobles-until they are hired to pilfer a famed sword. What appears to be just a simple job finds them framed for the murder of the king and trapped in a conspiracy that uncovers a plot far greater than the mere overthrow of a tiny kingdom.

The Kitty Norville series By: Carrie Vaughn

Kitty Norville is a midnight-shift DJ for a Denver radio station and a werewolf in the closet. Her new late-night advice show for the supernaturally disadvantaged is a raging success, but it's Kitty who can use some help. With one sexy werewolf-hunter and a few homicidal undead on her tail, Kitty may have bitten off more than she can chew?

The Next Stage

Guardians of Destiny is finally on to the next stage. It's going through book formatting now. To celebrate the this next step, I decided to give you a very tiny excerpt from book #2. Enjoy!

I did not train alone much with Dogan anymore, and that was a good thing because who knew what would happen to us? Just the two of us, behind closed doors...the mere thought of it sends chills throughout my body. Like I said before, I was always thinking of the kiss we shared so many months ago, and I would be lying if I said I never wanted to experience that again. I had to stop myself from touching the man, because any time we accidentally brushed up against each other, my whole body would flush with heat. The longer we kept the inevitable at bay, the worse it was going to be for us in the end. When we finally stop the fighting and join as one, it's going to be so intense, I am sure neither of us will survive.

Guardians of Destiny - Synopsis

Well, it's been a long time since I wrote on this blog and figured it was time to correct that. I've decided I would start with the back cover description. Everyday I'm a bit closer to having book 2 published. It's an exciting and busy time for me. Also, I got a glimpse of what the cover will look like and I hope you all love it as much as I do.

Book two of the Legends of Breenaseries.

The exciting story continues of soulmates Leelah Bayard and Dogan Ramstien, who serve as the main guardians of King Bryce and Queen Rosa of Altecia. As they let go of the previous friction between them and become one, they complete their first step toward their destiny. Leelah is part of a group the Fae call God’s Elect. As she and Dogan, along with their royal guard companions Rowan and Sterling, discover new ways to use their powers, they learn about their heritage and the connection they have to the Fae. Prince Calum of Salvatoria arrives at Burreck Castle to ask the king for help to dethrone his brother. When Dogan, Sterling, and the majority of the royal guard leave for war, Leelah remains in Burreck City to watch over the queen. A year later, just before the men come home from the war, soldiers from Salvatoria try to kidnap Leelah. But can she get away before it’s too late?

In a world and time where women don’t have much say in anything, Leelah proves she can work just as hard as any man, maybe even better.

Changes in Story

I read something yesterday, it read:

"A lot of times as a writer you plan things out in advance.  You know exactly where you want the story to go, and it's perfect.  And then your characters betray you.  Like belligerent toddlers they race off in opposite direction from where you wanted them to go, and the most annoying part is that it's usually better."
Guardians of the Queen and especially Leelah have changed tremendously. At first, it was planned as a stand alone novel (not a series).  Leelah didn't have powers and wasn't apart of a group that would eventually help save the world.
The characters really do get a mind of their own.  As I wrote her story, I was always surprised when a new twist or turn occurred.  After I would go over what I just wrote, I'd find myself liking it more than what I initially envisioned.  Like, Cora for instance, she sort of just popped herself into the story and I'm so happy she did!
So this all got me thinking!  Book one, and even book two has changed tremendously, so what will my ending be like?  I've realized that I have no idea and I'm completely okay with that.  I'll just continue letting my characters do what they want.  So far, it seems to be working out just fine!

Excerpt #2 from Guardians of Destiny

***SPOILER ALERT***

Excerpt #2
Guardians of Destiny (Legends of Breena, #2)
M.K. Anthony

Bryce and Rosa knew that Cora was the girl that Dogan was meant to raise, but they did not know that I was meant to raise her too.  I was sure they suspected something just because Cora was just as clingy to me as she was with Dogan.   They know some what of our destinies that included Rowan and Sterling, but we figured the less they know the better for now.

I walked up to Bryce, who was standing beside the bassinet.  The king looked exhausted and smiled down at his sleeping son when I reached his side.  Prince Darrion looked so peaceful all wrapped up in a sapphire plush blanket.  He had a nice dark fuzz of hair around his head. Laying a hand on Bryce’s arm I murmured, “I take it he was up all night again.”

The king gave me a tired laugh as he guided me away from the bassinet.  They had servants that could help with the baby but the two of them wanted to do this on their own.  Neither of them wanted someone else to take care of their son.  “Yes, he was up all night.  Finally, a few hours ago, he fell asleep in between us and he’s been sleeping since.”  He took a seat at the table, which was filled with food and I took a seat next to Rosa.  Dogan and Cora sat across from us.  Bryce took his wife’s hand, “I am glad you two have to meet the new guards today and my schedule is clear because of that.”  He kissed Rosa’s hand and then smiled at us, “I think I am going back to bed after breakfast.”

“Ye should ha’ sent word to us,” Dogan said to him. “We would ha’ went to the kitchen fer breakfast.”

Bryce waved the comment away, “Nonsense, I was already up and hungry anyway, so I might as well enjoy breakfast with good company.”  He looked to Cora, “Right, my dear Cora?”

She nodded her little head, “Right.”

As we all started eating, we talked casually to one another.  Every now and then Dogan’s intense stare would lock with my eyes and quickly I would have to look away.  I felt my cheeks slightly start to flush.  I wish he would not look at me in that manner when we’re before the king and queen.  What if they noticed?  Suddenly I was thinking about last night and the kiss.  This kiss was even better then the first one we ever shared.  I felt myself getting even redder with the thought of it.  Staring down at my plate of food, I tried to remove it from my mind.

All of a sudden, there was a tingling sensation pressed against my leg, “Are ye thinking about last night, woman?” Dogan’s voice filled my head.  Jerking my head up, I glared at his smug expression as I felt my face catch fire.

He suddenly changed his smug expression to a look of concern, “Leelah, are ye feeling all right?  Ye’r looking a wee bit—” Dogan circled his finger around his face “—flushed in the cheeks.”  I did not think it was possible but I felt my cheeks getting even hotter.  Oh, I was going to kill him.  If my legs were a little bit longer I would have kicked him under the table.

“Oh, Dogan you are right.”  Rosa said with real concern, “Are you feeling all right, dear?”

I touched one of my burning cheeks and responded, “I feel fine, Rosa.  Just a little hot.  Can I be excused to the balcony?  Maybe the cool spring air will help.”

“Most certainly.  Go ahead,” she said and as I rose I gave Dogan a quick glare before leaving the table.  As I made it to the hall I heard Cora ask if she could go with me, but Dogan said no because she had not finished her breakfast.  I was thankful for that because I just wanted to be alone for a moment.

Excerpt #1 from Guardians of Destiny

Excerpt #1
Guardians of Destiny (Legends of Breena, #2)
M. K. Anthony

When I opened Cora’s chamber door, I caught a glimpse of the man sitting on the floor by the door.  Trying my best to ignore him, I strolled across the corridor to my own chamber while praying that he would not say anything.  Just as I reached for my doors handle he spoke, “Did ye ha’ a nice visit?” he asked sarcastically. “I could sense the bloody fool in there.  Why the hell was he there in the first place?”  His Salvie accent was tight with anger.  Clenching my fists, I closed my eyes as I took several deep breaths. Finally, I turned to face Dogan.  Still in his blue and gray uniform he had his back pressed against the stone wall with his legs bent up before him.  His arms lay across the top of his knees.  He had not cut his hair in months and now his wavy chestnut hair was only shy of touching his shoulders.  Dogan’s whole face was tight, making his scar on his face more pronounced as his bright emerald eyes glared at me viciously. As I made my way toward him, I wanted to grab hold of him in anger, but was afraid what would happen.  I wanted to scream, but I could not because Cora would hear me.  So I settled with a harsh whisper as I leaned down and pointed my finger at him, “First of all, I am not going to stand here and get bitched at because you are mad that I did that without your presence.”  His jaw started to twitch as his nose flared with anger, “Second, I do not know what your issue is with your father, but I did not invite him.  He came on his own accord.”  Suddenly, I did not care anymore and took hold of his face with my right hand.  As I dug my nails into his cheek, he quickly took his hand around my wrist, “And third, your daughter has been sad all afternoon.  When I asked her what troubled her so, she broke down in tears because she was missing her nana.  She was afraid to say anything about it to us because she thought we would be mad at her.”  Dogan’s face went lax and all anger was washed away, “I showed her how she can still see her.  The girl didn’t even know she could do that.”  Just for the hell of it I dug my nails deeper into his skin and his eyes instantly narrowed. “So if you will excuse me, I am exhausted and want to go to bed,” I said through my gritted teeth. Quickly, I released his face and stood up.  As I tried to walk away, I was being pulled back by his grip that was still around my wrist.  His hand was hot against my skin.  I glared down at him, I never said another word and neither did he.  I was not sure how long we stayed like that but it felt like forever.  I was torn by wanting him to let go of me so I could hurry to my room, all the while, the other half wanted him to never let go and pull me to him so he could wrap his massive arms around me.  Finally, Dogan, my future mate, released me and I moved so fast that I practically stumbled into my room.  Slamming the door behind me, I leaned my back against it as I turned the latch to lock my door.  My body was shaking, and it felt like my heart was literally in my throat.  So I said a prayer that I spoke in my head at least three times a day, Oh Lord, please give me the strength when it comes to dealing with that man.  Once my breath started to become normal again, I pushed myself away from the door so I could get out of these clothes and go to bed.

Introduction

Hello!  I'm the newly published author of Legends of Breena: Guardians of the Queen.  My goal with this blog is to have everything, and anything dealing with my world of Breena, with excerpts from published to unpublished works, including short stories.  I'm new to this whole blog thing, so please bare with me as I learn!

It's still surreal to have the world that's always invading my mind, out in print for you all to see.  My hope is to have my readers so absorbed in my creation, that they'll always yearn for more.

Lastly, I would like to thank all my family and friends.  If it wasn't for all your support and confidence, I would have never taken that first step towards publishing.  I love you all...God bless!!
