Death's Pale FlagMy apologies to the Rolling Stones for that title! Hi! I'm Gary Simonds. I'm an author, neurosurgeon (retired), college and medical school professor (active), and public speaker. After a very heavy clinical career I have shifted gears to a world of engagement with all levels of learners and interested parties. I am anxious to connect with anyone who wants to discuss just about any thing. I don't profess to know much about so many things but am always interested to learn from you - be it individually or as part of a group. I do have a diversity of interests and some expertise in some subjects such as: neurosurgery and the neurosciences, death and dying, PTSD, moral hazard, health systems science, healthcare delivery science, military medicine, medical ethics, medical socioeconomics, humanism, doctor patient interactions, patient advocacy, and burnout and psychological distress in healthcare workers. I have co-authored with renown Clinical Psychologist, Wayne Sotile, three non-fiction books on burnout and resilience in healthcare workers and has recently written a related award-winning novel, Death's Pale Flag (release date in may).
