three novels in one year

I’m a little late to the party on this, but I’m super excited to announce that my third novel – a YA Literary Thriller, Sons of Slaughter – is now available on Amazon!

I published Love and the Sea and Everything in Between in November of 2018, and in June of 2019 I published my second novel, Every Bright and Broken Thing while editing my third novel Sons of Slaughter. Needless to say, it’s been a very productive year.

I’d like to share more about how I managed to accomplish this. First, I need to find th...

a critical spirit vs. a corrective spirit

I grow weary of watching ministers of the Gospel and fellow followers of Christ being slain by the sword of criticism at the hands of those who claim to be their brothers and sisters in the Gospel. I think the Church needs to wake up to the toxic culture of criticism, rooted in a lack of submission to authority, a hardness of heart, and stubbornness and pride, that exists within its own walls. It’s time to learn the difference between CRITICISM and CORRECTION.

A critical spirit is not submitt...

taking ownership + an #ownvoices story

So, I had an interesting Monday. After a long weekend spent remodeling my kitchen, then a long Monday at work that was so busy I had to stay late, I was less than thrilled about receiving some disrespectful comments and messages from one of my readers and followers on IG.

This person, who had been baiting me with comments on IG for quite some time, eventually came at me and tried to tell me what to write. Now, ordinarily I would just listen to a person’s suggestions about stories to write. Af...

the multi-tasking writer (an interview with myself)

I wanted to write a blog post that both talked about my endeavor to write two stories at a time as well as gave you a sneak peak at those stories, but the original post felt rambly and scattered. So, I decided to try something new – lay out it like an interview! Enjoy!

So, you mentioned the other day that you were planning to take on a second Work-In-Progress on top of your current one as well as continuing work on the edits for Every Bright and Broken Thing. Tell us a little bit about these...

it doesn’t happen by accident

Writing used to be little more than a hobby for me. Sure, when I published Paradox back in 2012, I had vague dreams of success. But giving into the mythical “writer’s block” for months at a time and being unstructured, unorganized, and unmotivated to actually dedicate time and energy to my craft was sure to prevent me from achieving even the smallest dreams of literary success.

Over the last year or so, however, my love for the craft has been rekindled. Writing has become so much more than a...

updates + tips on conquering writer’s block

Hello, friends! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to post a blog. I’ve started many new posts and topics, but haven’t been able to finish very many. My absence is a good thing, though! It means I’m being productive outside of the internet world. More specifically, it means I’m dedicating more time to what, I’m sure, many of you readers are most excited for: my sophomore release Every Bright and Broken Thing. Anyway, here’s some updates from the book-o-sphere and some thoughts and tip...
