And so it begins!

I can truthfully say that this is the start of a new adventure. Becoming a goodreads author is the fulfillment of a dream I didn't even know I had. I have always known deep down somewhere that I would love to publish a book someday, but I never thought it would be a book of poetry, much less a collection of haiku.

There's much to be said for independent (self) publishing. I'm not really good with listening to what other people say, especially when it contradicts my taste. I was really glad I could choose my own cover, font, and design. I really don't think I'd have been able to have a say with a traditional publisher. I'm really glad I got to have this. Independence is something really persona; and important.

However, this being said, offered a chance to go with traditional publishing for my novel, I wouldn't turn it down. Though Indie publishing did give me a chance to do what I wanted, I had a lot of things to figure out on my own. It gave me a huge measure of envy and respect for publishing houses. There really is a lot of work that goes on behind each book that is produced. It takes a huge amount of effort to turn a final draft into a polished, beautiful work of art that goes out into the world.

What can I say? I'm really pleased to be a part of this world, and hope to make my mark. To everyone out there accompanying me and supporting me on this journey, once again, I would like to say Thank you. I love each and every one of you

Challenges

Nothing in this world comes easy, and being a well-known writer is one of them. Writing a book, despite all the attendant challenges is the easy part.

Getting recognized, being read, that is the real stumbling block, especially if you do not have the power of a publishing behemoth and their marketing budget behind you. A writer is not made in a day, without an effort. S/he is a product, created, gift-wrapped, and marketed by the industry.

Publicity, like attention is hard; Hard to get, hard to retain, without resorting to tricks. I don't really like too much attention, but anonymity is a luxury I cannot afford. That said, I am going to persevere with this endeavour, since I would like this book to go out into this world, and touch those people's hearts it is meant to touch.

There will be no tricks played here. No one will be forced to read. Those who come to this page come of their own free will, and are free to speak their minds. I wish for honest reviews, honest comments and honest ratings. There is nothing more that shall be asked of my readers.

Thank you.
