“It’s an accumulation. Every day and every thing reminds you that you don’t fit. Starfolk weren’t allowed to be married, or to have kids, but there are so many other obligations that connect a person to their social network and structure. And they haven’t kept up with any of it for twenty-eight years. The profiles from before the starshot and after it are like two different people. These people couldn’t handle it.
