Drew Karpyshyn is a Canadian author and game designer. After working at a credit union for some time, he eventually became a game developer. He joined BioWare towards the end of the Baldur's Gate series, and wrote the tie-in novel for Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. He stayed with BioWare, where he worked on Neverwinter Nights, and became the Senior Writer on the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

This Star Wars connection gave him the opportunity to write Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, his first hardcover. Karpyshyn still works for BioWare where he is the lead writer for the Mass Effect series. ...more

Autograph… scam???

I know, I know… way too long since my last update. But I’ve come across something odd that I wanted to share with folks.

Over the last couple months I have gotten about a half-dozen “fan letters” asking for my autograph. The cover letters are weirdly generic and non-specific – as if it was written by ChatGPT, with random details changed, or based off a plug-and-play template.

Drew Karpyshyn answered Richard's question: Hi Mr. Karpyshyn I just reread your Darth Bane trilogy ( fantastic books btw) and had a two question. First what color lightsaber would you say Set Harth uses? Did you ever have plans for more books following either Set Harth or Darth Zannah? If you were given the correct permission to write said books. Thank you Most of the art I've seen for Set Harth shows him with a red lightsaber, and that feels right to me.
