RELEASE DAY for DOARSS!

It’s release day! 🎉 😊 🍾
🍦 DREAMING OF A RASPBERRY SWIRL SUNDAE by Sofia Aves is a lunch-hour read with a little bit of flirty, a dash of dirty, and a scoop of suspense. It's part of The Wild Rose Press' One Scoop or Two series, and there will be another cute little story releasing in July to complete this duet. It's set in the tropical town of Trinity Beach, which is near Cairns in Far North Queensland.
Here's a few little secrets about this story:
🛶 My uncle used to be moored at Trinity beach for over a decade.
🍦 Ben Brickman was inspired by my absolute fave Masterchef competitor. Can you guess who it is?
🖤 I wasn't supposed to add suspense into this book but I just couldn't help it. If it's not Christmas, it gets suspense. Them's the rules!
📖 I wrote it in three days (then spent two weeks editing it!).
💜 Between hubs and I, we've lost a few family members to dementia, with likely more in our lifetime (and we're prepared for us, too!). So the experience with Sammy's dad was a heartfelt one for me - I cried the entire time I wrote that scene.
🏝 Small town beach romances are my new favourite thing.

Writing for Christmas already!

Just a little insight into the life of a writer... I'm already into writing Christmas book 3/3 for this year.

Christmas appears to be ruling my life, and I'm not objecting - writing Christmas romances seriously changed my author life the last few months! Snow on the Range went off in December - the popularity of that book blew me away, and still is, nearly two months after launch.

So this Christmas, I'm doing another Christmas at Red Hart Ranch, and it's included in Secret Santa, the most gorgeous box set.

Secret Santa: A Limited Edition Christmas Romance Collection

Which brings me to... voting. This gorgeous boxset is headed by USA Today authors and already has two best seller tags. So please, help us hit the top of this Goodreads Listopia list too!

Montana is having a White Christmas

This Aussie writer is off to the border rangers of Montana. Well, in my head, anyway.

Snow of the Range: A Red Hart Ranch Christmas Special

SNOW ON THE RANGE is the first book in my brand new series, RED HART RANCH and focuses around the ranch and the people there. Heavy on the romance with enough steam to fill a sauna.

When I started out with the idea for this series, i wasn't sure where I wanted it to be set - cowboys were in the offing, a sprawling ranch, maybe....cuddles by the fire all winter long. But something in my head went further afield.

I grew up as a teenager reading Diana Gabaldon when she was first starting out, and Sara Donati. The borderlands between the northers US states and Canada beckoned, though I knew my series would be more a contemporary bent. So, I reached out to a few of my US author friends. With the help of my editor (a North Carolina girl) and amaze-balls writer Lila Grey, I picked Montana.
Then, I googled and was completely blown away!!

The scenery, the mountains, the people...In my head (and on Google Earth) I've journeyed across these magnificent vistas so many times! And on December 1, I'm going to share Red Hart Range with you, and I can't wait.

There's a Norse god in my head called...

Trickster's LawLoki.

He's in there, and when you have a trickster god inside your head 12 days before launch day, things get just a little...chaotic.

Writing Trickster's Law may have been one of the most entertaining writes of my life. The pure sass between Loki and Thor had me in hysterics as I wrote...Mr. A even thinks he might read this one! (A minor miracle in itself!).

There was a LOT of research that went into this one. When I was approached by the other authors in the NOT SO EVIL series to write a villain's origin story, my mind immediately went the way of Loki. But I didn't want to write Marvel's version (thought it's totally acceptable to imagine him as Tom Hiddleston).

Why? Because of copyright, for a start. But also because that Loki has been done by some amazing writers already...you know, Stan, to start with...but also because I wanted to show Loki in a light he hadn't been drawn as in popular media. To really show what makes him not so evil.

Research during 2020 took a slightly different turn to my usual interviews and library trawling; I had two different translations of the Poetic Edda open for the entire write, and while there are lots of old legends in there, they certainly took on a life of their own! Plus, there's a fair bit of romance in there because, well, it's me.

To date there have been a lot of laugh out loud moments amongst my team and I made two betas cry. Which made me feel better, because I cried writing that last chapter too - and no, not sharing because...spoilers :)

So I hope you enjoy reading Trickster's Law as Loki will always have a very special place with me.
