a cover reveal on the horizon

Picture I'm so excited that my forthcoming book Kingdom of Dust has a publication date! It will be released on 8/20/2024 by HarperCollins/Quill Tree Books.

I'm also excited for readers to see the amazing cover, illustrated once again by the fantastic Michael Machira Mwangi and designed by David Curtis.

2024 rhode island children's book award nominee

rhode island book award It was a surprise and an honor to find out that A Comb of Wishes is nominated for the 2024 Rhode Island Children's Book Award! Twenty titles were selected by the nomination committee in March and will be voted on by Rhode Island students in February of 2024.

An annotated list of all of the nominees is available on the RICBA website. Thank you again, Rhode Island librarians and teachers!

2022 bram stoker award nominee

Stoker Award I'm so honored and excited that A Comb of Wishes is a nominee for the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a Middle Grade Novel​! This is the inaugural year for the middle grade speculative fiction category and it is filled with wonderful dark speculative fiction that speaks to kids' courage and heart. So happy that more readers will find A Comb of Wishes due to this honor.

paperback launch and GIVEAWAY!

raising the roof!

Little Free Kidlit Library One of the best features of the Little Free Kidlit Library is the cool book cover roof. When the library opened in April of 2021, the roof was covered with 2 x 3 wood tiles that I had painted black and decoupaged with mini-versions of almost 100 covers of early reader, middle grade, and YA books. It was a lovely mix of some of my favorites, like Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and One Crazy Summer, and new releases (as of 2021) such as From the Desk of Zoe Washington and The Bridge Home. I...
