Find Peace and Exercise, Too.  Moving Meditation Techniques.

Find peace and exercise, too is a great way to do both.  Combine movement and meditation techniques give you a lift and get your heart pumping.

Before I jump into today’s newsletter post, let me give a plug for my newest podcast which is being released in the next few days. Here’s the link to a great show: Meditation with Blair Abee.

In keeping with my recent series of various practices that you can undertake to raise your consciousness, today’s post is on moving meditation techniques. Moving meditations are done with the eyes open. It is challenging for the mind and body to reach a meditative state while in motion and can be practiced for a lifetime.

I focus on two types of meditation in my books, sit-down meditation and mindfulness meditation. I would like to include this additional “type” of meditation for your consideration. I’m speaking of moving meditations which speak to a way of meditating while moving rather than being still.

Here are some of my favorites.

Yoga

Yoga, for me, is such a wonderful way to stay loose–physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I began doing yoga over 45 years ago. It has a “stretching exercise” component to it and a sitting meditation component. I think yoga is best begun by taking a class. I particularly like the more traditional Integral Yoga Institute system which I first learned, but there are dozens of types of yoga available today. From Iyengar, which has a strong healing component to it, to Bikram, which is done in a hot environment and is more like a gym workout.

My advice: Do yoga. In the morning. First thing. If only for 10-15 minutes. Then a 4-10-minute Higher Consciousness Meditation. I know, I know–regular yoga class takes 60-90 minutes. But after you’ve done it for a while you can pare it down to 6-8 poses that you like best. I especially enjoy the Salutation to the Sun. Yoga has the potential to help us increase our vibration as we learn to breathe, meditate, and move more consciously—all at the same time.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is my most recent moving meditation practice. Both Lynne and I went once or twice a week to a class at our local fitness center for a year. Like yoga, it is a moving meditation. It also throws in balance and moving across the floor slowly and gracefully.

It’s practiced by millions in countries all over the world. We took the class with an outstanding teacher, Peter Paul. Emphasizing the moves, in sequence, with proper technique, and being aware of the breath is part of the routine.

Through Tai Chi, I have learned how to get more deeply into the “Zone”, which is said to promote peak athletic performance. Being able to get into the Zone is what enabled elite athletes like basketball great Michael Jordan, football wiz Joe Montana and tennis legend, Arthur Ashe (who meditated on the court during tennis matches), to perform at their peak when the pressure was on, and the game was on the line.

Tennis

I apply the concept of meditation and the Zone to my tennis. It’s suitable in any sport where focus and physical activity without a lot of mental effort is desirable. In tennis, to watch the ball coming toward you, and notice the spin and the bounce can be helpful in “letting the body hit the ball” as author Tim Gallwey put it in The Inner Game of Tennis.

From time to time, I can get into the Zone, a transcendent experience, and play significantly better than usual. The trick is to get into the Zone at will. I’m still working on that and my ability to be aware of my breath before I serve is improving.

There is also a splendid book called The Legend of Bagger Vance: A Novel of Golf and the Game of Life by Steven Pressfield on this same subject of getting into Zone. He calls the Zone “the Field” and has detailed instructions on its application to golf. These are principles you may apply to your favorite sport.

It’s through tai chi and tennis I have learned that Higher Consciousness is a learnable skill. It is a lifelong endeavor, of course, but not just a matter of a stroke of blessing from the angels. I suppose it’s not a stretch to say that the pursuit of Higher Consciousness has become a lifestyle for me. The more I do this type of inner work the better I get at it (bringing consciousness into the moment); and the better I get at my physical activity and performance.

Walking (and running)

Lynne and I went for a retreat to Spirit Rock some months ago and found the walking meditation particularly intriguing. The instructions from Anna Douglas, the workshop leader, were to go out and walk the grounds, silently and with mindfulness.

“Start by being aware of your body moving. Your feet taking you step by step down the path. Be aware of the movement of the feet in your shoes. Notice what part of the foot contacts the ground first and last. Listen to the noise of the gravel with each step. Begin to be aware of the noises around you. The birds and other animal life. The grass and the sun sparkling off it. The leaves of the trees and their rustle. The trees themselves. See if some don’t have an aura you can pick up on. Feel the sun on your face. The breeze ruffling your hair. Do this for 20 minutes and we will ring a bell to call you in.”

It was during one of these walks (we did several over the period of a day) that I had a realization that I shared with the group, “My Buddha Mind was taking my body for a walk, much like taking my dog for a walk”.

I frequently use the Sacred Breath technique, mentioned earlier, when running in my neighborhood–breathing in Spirit on the inhale and radiating light out into the neighborhood on the out-breath, spreading goodwill.

Conclusion

Moving while being at peace is a real art. Moving and loving the movement in the moment is bliss. Realizing, “I am the Universe, moving” is the highest form of being one’s Self.

I Offer a Healing Meditation for Hawaii

Fire In Hawaii

I Was Moved to Do a Healing Meditation for Hawaii

Very early a few mornings ago I woke up in a sweat, finding myself thinking about Hawaii. I must have been dreaming about it.

Ever since I took a deep dive into my meditation practice 5 years ago and began writing about my experiences, I have worked to develop a healing meditation technique that I think might be helpful in times like this. Or when somebody I know might be in distress. Or when my dog is sick.

Sometimes this is the only thing I can do to contribute to improving a situation I find myself in. A healing meditation. Doing something to contribute to moving things in a desirable direction, even if only an inch. I don’t have miraculous healing powers by any means. But that is not the point. I am convinced that if I can lift myself into a higher state of awareness, Higher Consciousness. Where my Soul awaits my arrival at all times so that Spirit may begin to flow in a way that might be beneficial to the situation.

As a result, I think I have refined a technique that satisfies me in my quest for a process that will satisfy my urge to offer healing that might be helpful.

The Higher Consciousness Healing Process Applied to Hawaii

This is the meditation I did for Maui, Hawaii. These are the ideas and words I used. (See more about this process in my book The Meditation Book.)

“I invite all who are suffering from the fires on the island, especially those in Lahaina, to come into my Holy of Holies for a healing meditation. In particular, those who have lost everything, those who are injured, those who are first responders and doing the work to find missing people in the rubble, those who have lost loved ones, those who have passed over to the Other Side, and all those traumatized by this event.

I also invite all Master Teachers and guides, planetary guardians, guardians of the islands, kahuna spiritual teachers, nature spirits of all types, Other Side helpers who will work with the recently departed, spirit beings attracted to this activity, and any and all who want to take part in this healing.

We are all involved in a transformation on Planet Earth caused by climate change. Climate extremes and tragedies are increasing and will probably continue to increase for the next 50 years until we change our ways. It’s a wake-up call, and the message is ‘Grow up humanity’. Wake up to our common plight and wake up to our need to evolve beyond ‘homo erectus’ to’ homo spiritus’.

I wish to acknowledge that each person involved in this activity is an Eternal Being. Some are living human beings, some are not, but all are Eternal Beings. Those of us who occupy 3-dimensional vehicles on Planet Earth are susceptible to accidents, disasters, and tragedies. It’s the nature of our 3-dimensional existence.

When difficulties arise, we ask “Why?” The reasons are many and complicated. A key reason is that we don’t even know about or take advantage of the protection that comes from knowing our Eternal Beingness. Peace and protection come from abiding in the “Secret Place of the Most High”.

Then there is karma, to which we are all susceptible.

And simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time and not recognizing the signs.

To Those…….

To those who have transitioned to the Other Side, I know that this is a confusing time. You are between two worlds, the human and the spiritual. You, we, are all very attached to human existence. However, you are now uniting with your Soul and there are those who will usher you on. Offering you the exact healing activity you need to move on to your next adventure.

To those left behind, remember that your loved one has not died. But instead has transitioned over to the Other Side, where she or he is being comforted, cared for, and escorted on to their next step. Your job is to heal yourself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Seek contact with your Soul, your Higher Self, for thereon lies the quickest recovery.

The same for those injured by the fire. Yours is a different pain, but the remedy is the same. Seek and find an opportunity to grow and evolve from this incident. Seek spiritual means to heal and recover. Do not allow yourself to descend permanently into darkness and despair. You are meant to grow and evolve in this lifetime, no matter what the circumstances.

First responders and those involved in searching, cleaning up, and recovery, we all thank you for your service. The things you have witnessed and taken part in are awful in 3-dimensional reality. They are hard to process. Seek your healing in whatever manner you can, from therapy to spiritual growth.

And to those whose reaction to the fires and suffering in Hawaii is one of compassion and concern, thank you for the attention you have paid to the events there.

To everyone, know that you individually and collectively can and do impact the unfolding of The ALL. Know that despite the powerlessness that you sometimes feel, this healing activity reverberates through all of Eternity. Know that whatever your station, the Universe depends on your participation in Its affairs.

Even though you may not be able to impact much of the 3-dimensional world around you, you can impact the Present and the Future with your magnificence. Know that you matter, especially when you stand in your power and allow Spirit to flow through you and out into your world. We are all One and the suffering of one of us affects all of Us.

Lastly, to those in the Spirit World, Souls, guides, and guardians, and those of the Universal Hierarchy, we thank you for your attention and protection. We are mere mortals who are simultaneously Eternal Beings living on a Planet that causes us difficulties.

The Healing

I ask us all to put fear and concern for the human beings involved aside for the moment. Let us focus on our 5-Dimensional forms, our Eternal Beingness, for the rest of this healing. And let us include the Eternal Beingness of all those involved in this activity.

Start by taking a deep breath. In…..Out. And another. In…..Out…….. And then say, inwardly or out loud, “Peace be Still”. Say it again slowly “Peace….. Be…….Stilness”. (Saying it out loud amplifies the vibratory benefit, by the way). Then take a deep breath and say “OM” three times, extending the saying of the word for as long as is comfortable. (“Om” is said to be the sound of the Universe).

Now let’s pause and let the sound reverberate throughout the Universe.

Elevate, Illuminate, Radiate

Next, I have three words I want us to use to help us heal at physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Ask your Higher Self, your Higher Consciousness, to join you in this activity. Invite your guardians and spiritual teachers of whatever type to take part. Invite Mother Earth, Mother Ocean, and Mother Nature to take part. Ask The ALL to participate.

Say to yourself the word, “Elevate”. And then again. Experience the experience of Elevating your Consciousness and your Beingness. Experience your Consciousness expanding. You may feel a sense of Omnipresence in the doing of this. Then say “Illuminate”. And then again. Experience the experience of Illumination, your true, natural state. Open to its vibration. Let it flame up in your being. Allow the Light to be turned on. Lastly, say to yourself, “Radiate”. And again. Radiate the Illumined and Elevated states you have reached out to all in this Holy of Holies exercise.

Breathe deeply. Three times. Say “Om” three times, extending the sound. Now let us be silent for a minute to experience the upliftment and healing of the moment. Allow healing to occur at whatever level is appropriate for you. Your Higher Consciousness knows what you need. And you have radiated your healing to others, which has amplified the benefit. Have no expectations. Give thanks for whatever healing has occurred. Humanity has been greatly healed. The ALL has been healed greatly. The ALL will unfold differently than it might have because of your participation.

Pause and savor the elevation of your consciousness. The melding of your awareness with all who have taken part.

Completion

‘Thank you’ to each of you for your participation. Leave this place uplifted and transformed. In the days ahead remember your part in healing the rest of us and of yourself. Allow Spirit Within to guide you and bless you. Your Eternal Beingness has contributed greatly to your evolution and to the evolution of The ALL.

Let’s do one final “Om”, extending it out as far as is comfortable.

Thank you. Namaste. The Holy of Holies is available to you any time you go into your own Holy of Holies for healing for yourself and others. Anytime, anywhere you choose. Blessed be.”

Conclusion

Doubt not your power or your worth to The ALL. Use your Holy of Holies anytime you are drawn to do so, to heal your relationship with one or many. To heal yourself. Ask your Soul for the best possible outcome as relates to any concern you have and turn that concern over to Spirit. Trust your Higher Self to know and do what needs to be done. Avoid prescribing outcomes. You may have your preferences but, “Thy will be done”. Spirit may have something different in mind. Better. More suitable. Leave the door open for Spirit to move through you. (See more about this Best Possible Outcomes Process in my book, The Manifestation Book)

And so it is.

Are We Spirit In Human Bodies? No. Just the Opposite.

It has been said by many “wise” ones that we are spirits in human bodies, Spirit having a human experience. I think this is backward. I think we are human bodies inside of our Spirit Bodies and that these Spirit Bodies are what give life and form to our human bodies.

You only have to take the example of the death of a human body to see this. When the Spirit departs in death the body begins to disintegrate and ultimately returns to a pile of atoms, cells and electrons. And our Spirit, our Soul crosses over to the Other Side where it continues its Eternal Journey, going on to a new adventure. Often returning to Earth for another lifetime’s adventure here. Reincarnation.

Auras Explained

People with the ability to see these Spirit Bodies, or auras, and speak of them as a multicolored glow that surrounds the body. The glow and colors can even be “read”, and interpreted by such people. Some of them say they see the “glitches” that people have based on the darker colors in problem areas in the body. I think they are seeing the Spirit Body mentioned above and I don’t doubt that they can even do healing work based on what they “see”

I once went to a talk given by Swami Satchidananda, the guru of Woodstock and the founder of the Integral Yoga Institute where I learned yoga and meditation. About halfway through the presentation as his words became more “vibrant” I began to see colors surrounding him and radiating out in all directions. This was the only time I ever truly saw an aura. I think the strength of his Spirit body and the elevated state of consciousness that I was experiencing made it possible for me to perceive this phenomenon. Quite a light show. When I asked others in attendance, some said they had seen what I saw, and others had not.

Our Master Teachers Have Pointed the Way

Throughout the history of art many of the Master Teachers from our religious traditions have been painted with a glow or halo around their heads. This is one way that the artists who were painting their likenesses were able to metaphorically represent the illumined state of their particular Master. But this glow was more than just a metaphor, I have concluded.

I think that, like Swami Satchidananda, our Master Teachers radiated light and love when in their elevated state of consciousnesses, and that some in their audience were able to see this. And spoke of this to each other.

I also think that their illumined state was one of the reasons they were able to heal some of those in their audience. It was said that one woman was healed by Jesus by merely touching the hem of his robe, so strong was her belief that he could heal her. And that he felt and commented upon the healing energy that flowed out from him and into her.

In addition, our Master Teachers have all said that we have the potential to be just like them. They each said something similar to what Jesus famously said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is within you”. They have all pointed out the potential that we all have for reaching a state of Higher Consciousness and to realize that we are Eternal Beings in addition to being human beings.

We Are Vibratory Beings

One way to explain such things is to realize that we are all vibratory beings. Each of us has a vibratory rate that is a blend of our human body/Spirit Body vibratory rate. Or rather a vibratory rate range within which we live day to day. Some moments higher, some moments lower depending on the combined vibratory rate of our mental, emotional, physical and Spiritual bodies. Each of us naturally vibrates at a rate that is higher or lower rates relative to people we know.

Furthermore, our vibratory rates, to some great degree, influence our state of consciousness. Which, in turn, is a great contributor to our state of health and well-being and the types of people, circumstances and things that show up in our lives. This is what is meant by the idea that each of us is the creator of our own reality. The Law of Attraction states that “like attracts like”. More properly, “like begets (causes) like”.

We know from our own experience that this is true. Sometimes it is easier to see in others than in ourselves. But we all know people who generally have a more positive, optimistic state of mind. They generally seem happier and have a higher quality of life. We also know people who are generally less positive and more pessimistic. And that their quality of life seems to suffer.

Keep Your Vibratory Rate Up for A Better Life

It is incumbent, therefore, for each of us to keep our vibratory rate as high as we can as often as we can. While raising our vibration is not easy to do, with sufficient training and intention our vibratory rate can be raised substantially. There are famous and revered teachers of positive thinking whose training programs are well regarded for this reason.

However, there is a limit to how high we can go with such methods because the human mind/body by itself can only reach so high. The human mind is fickle and has its limitations. This is why meditation can be so valuable an undertaking. Meditation has the potential for helping us to transcend the human mind’s limitations and take us into higher realms of consciousness and vibratory rates. Even into the realms of the states of minds of our Master Teachers. Into illumination and even into full and continuous Enlightenment. Into Christ Consciousness and Buddha Mind.

How to Do This?

The tools I use are 3 in number.  First, Higher Consciousness Meditation, my meditation process outlined in my book The Meditation Book (at Amazon Books) first thing in the morning and last thing before going to bed. Second, the use some of the mindfulness meditation techniques mentioned in The Mindfulness Book throughout the day to keep my vibratory rate “tuned up”. And third, I use my Best Possible Outcomes process (see The Manifestation Book) to allow Spirit into my daily activities so that good outcomes occur. Use these or find your own techniques to “vibe up”.

I’ve been doing a lot of guest podcasting recently. The newest one is “The Value of Meditation and Mindfulness to the Business Community” with Vince Warnock at his international broadcast “Chasing the Insights” podcast. Use this LINK TO HEAR IT.

Remember Yourself. Infinite Divine Consciousness

To remember yourself, who you really are, can be a difficult task.  Where do we ever hear this simple, yet profound message, “You are infinite, individual, divine consciousness”?  Not from our parents, teachers, or spiritual leaders.  Instead, we are hypnotized from birth to think that we are finite, human beings who may gain a life in heaven after a life of toil on Earth.

When’s the last time that you heard, read, or were told that “You are an Eternal Being, a spark of The ALL created during the Big Bang and will never cease to exist?”  Probably never.  But if you ever did hear such a thing you probably thought “this is preposterous” and went on about your day.  Convinced that, instead, you are the amazingly complex biomechanical vehicle that you inhabit, with the endlessly chattering onboard computer that controls your every move.

But this is what my Soul, my Higher Consciousness said to me when first had contact with It.  “You are an Eternal Being.  And I am that part of you that is Pure Consciousness, One with The ALL, and One with you.  That makes us all One and I will show you the importance of that as we develop our relationship.  Together we are an infinite, individual, divine consciousness.”

What Does This Mean?

“Infinite, individual, divine, consciousness.”  What does this mean?  First, let’s first talk about where we came from.  Our Universe, nestled within The ALL, which some call God, began its next round of existence with a Big Bang some 14 billion years ago.  After the Big Implosion from the last Big Bang.  The ALL, our Creator if you must, is Infinite, Universal, Divine Consciousness (note the difference from “infinite, individual, divine consciousness”.

The ALL is intelligent, having experimented with an infinity of options in Its unfolding and found the right formula for Its unfolding into this moment.   The formula is growth and expansion, for Itself and all of its forms.  It is omnipresent, everywhere present, still, whole, and complete.  With nothing left out because it Is everything. Isness itself.  It is omnipotent, all-powerful, because, again, it is everything evolving and growing. And omniscient, all-seeing, because it is aware of everything, being everything.  Conscious of every speck of existence.

We are individualized versions of The ALL.  One with It.  A reflection of Its Infinite, Divine Consciousness.  We Are.  Our most fundamental assurance is that we Are.  We exist.  This is the only thing that we really know for sure.  We exist In the Eternal Now.

The comings and goings of all appearances occur within the stillness of our consciousness.  Our thoughts and ruminations are mere ripples on the ocean of our awareness.  Lifetimes of existence are like the blinking of the stars.  And there is nothing to worry about, nothing to fear.  We, just like The ALL, unfold and unfold and unfold.  Just as we should.  Growing and evolving.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.  All in the backdrop of the profound Isness of the Whole.  Our Divine Consciousness.  Pure Awareness.

So What?

I’ve taken you through this awareness experience to point out the bigness of who you/we are.  The profundity of our existence.  One with The ALL in our individual divine consciousness, our Soul.  That part of ourselves that is in constant contact with Spirit and. is always available to those who turn to it and allow it to flow into our daily lives.

If you are not acquainted with it, your Soul has waited since your birth for you to recognize it.  In most cases, your Soul has waited many lifetimes for you to recognize it while you are in human embodiment.  My first contact with Soul occurred 6 years ago when I was in a traumatic time of being fired for being a whistle-blower on my psychopathic boss.  I did a deep dive into my meditation practice, which I had been doing for over 40 years, and boom….there it was.  My Soul was waiting for me to open to it.  Had been for many lifetimes. And meditation was my method to contact It.

Why is this Important?

With Soul contact comes many blessings:

Communication with the advanced, more aware, wiser, and more powerful part of yourself.Having your Soul participate in helping you create a happier, more peaceful, healthier, and more abundant life. The ability to be more creative and make better decisions in your work and personal life. The potential for better more rewarding relationships. The option of seeing self, others, and the world more clearly with Sacred Eyes.Clearing accumulated karma from this lifetime and previous ones. And moreFor me, Soul Contact Was a Lifesaver.

I was floundering and unsure of my next move after a 25-year career that ended abruptly and unjustly.  Through my contact with my Higher Consciousness, I was able to reinvent myself and shift into a new career as an author of 6 books, 3 of which have hit best-seller status on Amazon.

More important, however, than the guidance I got from my Soul in transforming my life was the development of my relationship with “HiC” as I affectionately refer to my Higher Consciousness.  We commune on a daily basis.  I find I can relax into HiC’s Presence and feel safe in my world, knowing HiC will reach out before me to smooth the Path that I am on.

How to Come to Recognize Yourself as You Are

Recognition of self as eternal, individual, divine consciousness first comes with knowing that this is possible.  And secondly, here are the ways I recommend you use to take the most direct route to Higher Consciousness:

Learn a sit-down meditation practice that is easy, simple, and effective, and do it in the morning and the evening. I prefer my Higher Consciousness Meditation process, as outlined in my book The Meditation Book .  It’s suitable for beginners as well as expert meditators and bypasses the traditional, often laborious “mind training” that most meditation methods employ.Throughout the day employ one or several “mindfulness meditation” techniques or sayings/mantras to pull yourself out of the day-to-day humdrum and put you in a Place of remembrance. Saying to yourself, “I am an Eternal Being”, for example, works fabulously well.  Throw in a moment of silence to let the power of the saying sink in.  I offer a whole list of such sayings and techniques in my book The Mindfulness Book that you can experiment with.Try my Best Possible Outcomes process from The Manifestation Book to open the door for your Soul to participate in your maximal growth and evolution by attracting good people, things, and circumstances into your existence. Your Soul has your best interest at heart and will clear the path for attracting what’s best for you if you will allow it.

If discovering yourself as an infinite, individual, divine consciousness sounds like a worthy goal, give it a try.  There are many paths to this realization.  And it is one of the most important things you can do for yourself in your career as an Eternal Being.

How’s Your New Year Going? Ways to Make It Better

How is your new year going?  Two+ weeks into the new year, are you keeping up with your resolutions?  Have you taken the inspiration of New Year’s Eve and leaped forward in meeting your goals and aspirations?  Is your life better today than it was yesterday and last week?

Most of us will say that our New Year’s resolutions are already starting to wear out.  Many will admit that the revelry of New Year’s Eve has not produced change.  How to make life better today than it was last week or last year remains a mystery.

And the reason is that our attention has been placed on the wrong things to make improvements.  Going to the gym more.  Eating better.  Saving more money.  Starting a business.  Being kinder to our friends, neighbors, and relatives.  The outer things of this world.  When the surest way to change and grow and improve comes by placing our attention on our inner world.  The world of Spirit which lies within and is the greatest source of change and even transformation available to us.

Awake and Remember

Awake each day and remember where the life force comes from that animates your body and your mind.  Thank The ALL, God if you will, for the opportunity to have another beautiful day on Planet Earth.  To live a life surrounded by the beauties of sunshine, greenery, blue sky, and fellow creatures, two-legged, four-legged, and winged.  Acknowledgment of your mere existence and its amazing benefits will set you up for a good day.

In doing so you are more likely to attract good things, people and circumstances to you this day.  Why?  Because when you are operating from a higher vibrational frequency you are more likely to attract higher vibrational outcomes.  You are setting yourself up to move through the world more freely, effortlessly, and happily.

Move Around and Be Grateful

Take a few moments to be grateful for your home, for your companions, for the food you are about to eat, for the supply chain that made available all of the things which surround you, for the work you are about to embark on, and more.

Gratitude is one of the most elevated emotions we have the opportunity to experience in life.  Especially if the gratitude is offered from your Soul, your Spirit Within, on which your whole life depends.  It is your Soul, Spirit, that animates your body and your mind.  If you doubt this just reflect on what the difference is between an alive body and a dead one.  When the life force, which is Spirit, leaves the live body, the physical body collapses and returns to dust.  Therefore, it behooves us to pay attention to this Spirit and to make Soul contact to have a better day, a better year, a better life.

Meditate a Bit

Take a few moments during the first hour of your arising (and just before you go to bed) to sit and meditate.  To put the thoughts and concerns aside and allow yourself to just Be.  To relax and abide in your Self, enjoying the experience.

Don’t know how to meditate?  There are many systems for learning to meditate.  Try some out.  I have to say that my Higher Consciousness Meditation (HCM) technique is one of the best and quickest ways to learn (pick up The Meditation Book available at Amazon and get started).   HCM is also helpful for those who have tried to meditate and have trouble with the “mind training” approach that most meditation systems use.

These moments in meditation can be the best moments of your day.  Relaxing into your Higher Consciousness is energizing and freeing.  It soothes the mind and heals the body.   What could be better?

Try a Mindfulness Exercise or Two

Use one or two mindfulness exercises throughout the day to remind yourself to withdraw your attention from your oh so compelling daily activities and drop down into your heart center for refreshment.  A simple, “peace be still” can shift your consciousness into a place of Peace.  “I am an Eternal Being” can remind you of who you are, really, in addition to your role as a human being.  (Find a number of additional mindfulness exercises in my book The Mindfulness Book.)

Mindfulness techniques are intended to lift you out of the constant stream of thoughts our human biocomputer subjects us to and, as is said, puts you “in the moment”, into present time (which is all there really is, after all.)  To Be.  Here.  Now.  If only for a moment.

Offer Everyone You Meet Your Recognition of Who They Are

“Seeing” each person you encounter during the day the recognition that you recognize their Eternal Beingness will alter your view of them and their reaction to you.  Acknowledging this fact is one of the most important gifts you can give to another person.

The Australians greet each other with a hearty “g’day, mate” when they encounter (and also when they depart from) people they meet.  The spiritual ones of India greet each other with “Namaste”, meaning “the Higher Consciousness in me acknowledges the Higher Consciousness in you”.  While saying “Namaste” out loud to your boss might not be understood or appreciated, saying it in your mind is almost as good.  And may, over time, bear fruit.

Conclusion

Try one or more of these techniques to make your New Year better.  The focusing within that will occur will cause you to grow and evolve spiritually.  And perhaps transform your life.  In addition, the world outside of you responds and acknowledges your growth.  Your life and your World will get better.  This is the promise of all of our Master Teachers throughout human history.

Have a Christ Consciousness Christmas. How. Why.

Each year we all have an opportunity to have a Christ Consciousness Christmas. Unfortunately, few take advantage of this opportunity. The cultural tinsel and hoopla often drown out the opportunity at this time of year to remember what Jesus became famous for–what he said and did during his sojourn to Planet Earth those many years ago. He achieved a state of Christ Consciousness and then shared what he knew in a way that is still remembered. He showed the way for the rest of us to do the same.

What is Christ Consciousness?

“Christ” comes from the Greek word χριστός (chrīstós), meaning “anointed one”, a title given to a spiritual teacher of elevated consciousness. Often associated with Jesus of Nazareth, the word symbolically means “anointed by the Holy Spirit”, or one who has achieved Enlightenment. Therefore, the term “Christ Consciousness”—awareness of and the embodiment of Spirit. A state of mind that we all have the potential for achieving.

Anyone who has achieved this state of mind can be said to deserve the title, “Christ”. Other religions have a word or title that applies to their most highly evolved, spiritually attuned mystics. Though I have no proof, I think that the name for the Hindu mystic and teacher, Krishna, is as much a title for one of their most revered adept rather than his given name.

Each of the Master Teachers of our major religions was similarly highly conscious and taught that each one of us has the ability to reach Christ Mind or Buddha Mind—Spirit-filled and Illumined. Each said something similar to what Jesus said, “For behold, The Kingdom of Heaven is within you”. Waiting to be recognized and allowed to take part in our lives if we only open up and allow it to. In which case, with some spiritual growth, we can become known, even if only to ourselves, as Barbara Christ or Stevie Christ.

Our Master Teachers Were Wayshowers, Not Gods

Unfortunately, the thought that we can all achieve anything close to Christ Consciousness is not one taught in any of our cultures. Instead, from birth, we are indoctrinated into the idea that this is a world of competition and only the strong survive. Almost nobody is “awake and aware”. There are few role models for that alternative. Almost no one has a different view from the accepted conventional wisdom. This conventional wisdom is nearly absolute—everybody thinks and acts based on the accepted norm, so it must be true. What other options are there?

What our Master Teachers had to say about each of us being capable of Enlightenment just like they did has fallen on deaf ears. Because we haven’t understood what they were saying, we have turned their teachings into dogma and religions. We perverted their teachings because we couldn’t understand them with our ego/personality minds. These teachings undermined the very existence of the body/mind/personality and its stranglehold over our perceptions.

The essence of their Teachings has been discarded by denial— “Enlightenment might have been true for Buddha (to name just one) and sounds great, but that could only apply to him. I could never be like that, not really.” This relegates what Buddha said, and his life example, to being beyond the average human, beyond the capability of the rest of us. Our misunderstanding keeps us from realizing that the Nirvana that he spoke of is only the lifting of a veil that shrouds our clouded eyes.

Take a Little Time to Explore Your Christ Consciousness This Christmas

Mohammed said “Thou art a mortal being, And thou art the Eternal One; Know thyself, through the light of wisdom. Except Thee, there exists none.” The Hindu guru Ramana, “The ordinary man lives in the brain unaware of himself in the Heart. The enlightened one lives in the Heart. When he moves about and deals with people and things, he knows that what he sees is not separate from the one Supreme Reality which he realized in the Heart as his own Self.” Carl Jung said it this way, “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

Let’s assume that their words are as they seem, intended to wake us up and realize that we are Eternal Beings besides being human beings. That we each have the ability to awaken to our True Selves and this time of year is an especially good time to spend some time exploring our potential to experience Christ Consciousness.

It behooves us then to spend a little time, maybe on Christmas Eve, to explore our relationship with our Higher Self or to experience Soul Contact for the first time.

Make Soul Contact

That first contact can be amazing. Here’s what Still Small Voice said to me for the first time as I sat writing my first book, “My Son, I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will be with you until the end of Eternity. There is nothing to fear. This is important. Otherwise, how can you get beyond your fears to the realization that there is nothing to fear? When you get there, there will be, literally, nothing to be afraid of. No matter what your circumstance.” Astonished and comforted me deeply.

Several days later my Higher Consciousness said:

“The enrichment of consciousness brings fulfillment. The enrichment of consciousness is fulfillment. It is the highest enrichment that will lift you into completeness. Oneness. With the All at its penultimate. Searing through 3d consciousness. Illuminating. Elevating. A State of Grace.

When this happens, Spirit stirs. Awareness purifies. Mountains move. Christ Consciousness. The Consciousness of Masters. Reachable. Available. Here. Now. Inside. Outside. A new normal if you’ll stay with it.”

How to Do This?

My answer to that is there are a number of spiritual traditions that can lead you to the experience of Christ Consciousness. However, the quickest way is spiritual contemplation, sitting meditation. There are lots of options available, although I am partial to the process I developed called Higher Consciousness Meditation. In my opinion, the quickest way to Illumination.

This process leapfrogs most traditional forms of meditation which are designed to subdue the mind, but can be lengthy and arduous. Instead, it takes you right to the experience of Illumination. I outline the process in detail in my book, The Meditation Book. The goal is the mystical experience of Self-completeness, Soul Contact.

Another answer to “How?” is through mindfulness meditation. This method uses short sayings, mantras, to induce a sense of Pure Awareness without mental distractions. One of my favorite such sayings is “Peace be Still”. Or “I am divine Love”. Simple, powerful words that seem to short-circuit the mental chatter and induce a state of stillness and peace. My companion book The Mindfulness Book is full of such statements which can be used for specific purposes to raise Awareness.

The Benefit

What do you think? Is it time to spice up your Christmas Holidays with Christ Consciousness? I found that my Self is always right there, awaiting my turning my attention in its direction. Ready to meet me even before I know I am headed there. More aware of me than I am of myself. This is very comforting because it means anytime I turn in that direction the Universe, and its individualized spark, my Soul, is ready to help me be more awake, more aware, more alive, and anticipating what I need at the moment for my growth and evolution.

What do you think? Give it a try?

New Year’s Day. December 21. How to Take Advantage of It.

In recent years I have thought January 1 is way too late for New Year’s Day. The shortest day has come and gone, and the days are already getting longer. It’s no wonder our New Year’s resolutions seem somewhat hollow. They are made during a hangover on the wrong day.

The Ancients had it right.

Winter Solstice is our Planet’s New Year’s Day and I think it should be mine too. To me, this makes more sense as a New Year’s Day because it aligns with the rhythm of our solar system rather than the somewhat arbitrary Julian calendar. And, astrologically, the Sun leaves expansive, philosophical Sagittarius for “buckle down and get things done” Capricorn. A good day to think big about my upcoming year and then begin to shifting into focus.

Lots of people make New Year’s resolutions. Resolutions to lose weight, exercise more, meditate every day. Whatever. With every intention of keeping them. Or least hoping to keep them. Often, they are not kept and sometimes they are.

I’m not a fan of creating New Year’s resolutions.

I like creating uplifting New Year’s vibrations better. I’m convinced that we create our own reality. In fact, it’s been my experience that what I do today is setting the stage for tomorrow and the next day and the next.

This is especially true if you also accept the notion that we actually attract to ourselves the good and the bad of our lives. The Law of Attraction says that “like attracts like”. Asserting, in effect, that on the whole /on the average our thoughts, beliefs, subconscious urges, ego characteristics, choices made today, and resulting vibratory rates generated, become the substance of our tomorrows. Cause and effect.

If we want to have an effect, then, on this dynamic soup that is our lives, if we want something more, better, of higher quality in our future, the time to influence that is today. I advocate for a process that upgrades our state of mind. When a state of mind changes other changes will occur, sometimes automatically.

When I realized that my tennis improved when I was able to stay in a neutral state of mind, to be in the moment and not worry about winning or losing, I was able to play better. From a neutral state my instincts could take over and I could just “let the body hit the ball”, to use the analogy that Tim Gallwey uses in The Inner Game of Tennis.

Meditation is the best method I can think to change our State of Mind.

Meditation allows its practitioners to get to at least a neutral state and to let the natural instincts of our Higher Consciousness take over and let Spirit flow instead of fear. When this happens, we achieve a higher state of vibration and causes the Law of Attraction to work.

What’s needed at this time of Solstice is for us to relax and meditate a bit to alter our consciousness and our vibration, to ease into Christmas with an acknowledgement of Christ Consciousness, and to have that set the tone for the New Year. I find it’s better to ease myself into an upgraded state of Awareness for an elevated version of myself to come forth than to try to muscle a New Year’s resolution into existence.

If you want an extra boost into the New Year…

The evening of December 21 is also a good time to undertake a Best Possible Outcomes exercise. Discussed in detail in my book The Manifestation Book, a BPO exercise goes like this. “I ask my Higher Consciousness (my Soul) for the Best Possible Outcome for the New Year for myself and everyone involved in my life.” Then pause, take a breath and allow Spirit to move. Followed by, “Thank you, Soul, for your participation in my life.”

And turn the New Year over to Spirit, to your Soul, which has your best interest at heart and will clear the path before you to make the crooked places straight as you unfold your next 365 days.

E-books about spiritual matters make great Christmas reading.  And a great last-minute Christmas gift for friends, neighbors and relatives.

Give Thanks and Improve Your Life. 8 Ways.

“Give thanks and improve your life” is a phrase used to describe the value of gratitude and appreciation. To shape a better life and as a part of a process for creating abundance.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” asserts author Melody Beattie.

Here is the interesting question to ask — “Why is this?” Perhaps because being grateful is a state of mind indicating elevated awareness. The more elevated one’s consciousness the higher the vibration one expresses. The higher a vibration one expresses the more likely we are to attract to us good people, things and circumstances. (See more about the Law of Attraction in my work The Manifestation Book.)

Here are 8 ways to give thanks that might seem a little unusual. I will offer a few stories to illustrate.

Thank You Supply Chain

Sometimes I am struck by how blessed I am, and it makes me shiver. As I sat outside recently taking in the end of the day and having crackers, cheese and wine, a feeling of overwhelming gratitude came over me for all the elements of the supply chain that culminated in my being able to eat well without having to go out in the fields and cultivate it. All the people, animals, trucks, forklifts, warehouses, stores, and credit card machines that enabled me to relish a bit of Swiss cheese on a Triscuit cracker, washed down with a nice Napa Valley Chardonnay.

Tears came to my eyes for the time, effort, care, and attention of the forces of the Universe that coalesced to nourish my body and mind, and ultimately my Spirit as I sat in a pool of intense thanksgiving. These nourishing things that I exchanged pieces of paper or electronic impulses, which manifested in my presence through the unfolding of events and circumstances. “What a fortunate guy am I!” I wrote in my journal.

And as I sit here writing this, and revisiting that moment, I am moved, again, at my good fortune.

Application of Gratitude, Extended

Building on thanking the supply chain, it is helpful to offer thanks to everything around me, all the time. I am more and more realizing the depth of the act of offering thanks and appreciation. I am surrounded by many things, things I have placed in my house and things that just seem to show up. Molecules arranged in such a way as to serve some need that I have and serves that need well. Some examples, again from my journal:

• Today my Toshiba laptop, when I opened it, went through a 20-minute routine of informing me that there was trouble when I last closed it down and did a preliminary diagnostic, an update, a disc repair, and finally a reboot. Back to good as new. “Good computer,” I said, like I say “good girl” to my dog, Sasha. And I meant it. My computer is a workhorse and a friend. It helped me write this piece.

• All my surroundings have, in a way showed up for my benefit, and stand ready to serve me. They are part of the 3d reality that I occupy. Metaphysically, part of the 5D reality that surrounds and infuses 3d with its form and function. Today I threw away a razor and thanked it for its usefulness to me in my shaving endeavors. Make it a point to praise all things useful.

• If you do, more stuff will want to be with you. This is also true of more/better circumstances and more/better people. To hang out with you. To be liked by you. I know that sounds strange, but it is not odd from a 5D perspective. From that perspective “stuff” is a metaphor, an idea that somebody had, thought through, and many had a hand in shaping for my use. It could be a lamp or a bowl or a telephone or a plant.

To quote author and speaker Jim Rohn, “There is no better opportunity to receive more than to be thankful for what you already have. Thanksgiving opens the windows of opportunity, for ideas and things to flow your way.”

• Take the dangly mobile that hangs over my head as I sit here writing. Some creative, artistic person dreamed up what a bit of copper could turn into and sketched it out. Then took the materials and formed them into something striking. But there was more to be done — marketing, and selling, and shipping, and receiving, and finally getting hung up in my house. For my pleasure, which it does give. I thank The ALL for unfolding in this way so that at this exact moment I am sitting here writing about The ALL and how it unfolded.

• As I open my heart more and more, my heart center gets bigger and bigger and stronger and stronger. And I see how my thanking the people, the happenings, the furnishings benefit me. How it is a way to be more loving, heartfelt, and compassionate. A way to raise my Awareness. To experience Higher Consciousness more frequently and deeply.

Revere All Things/Beings

Another story comes to mind to take this point to a deeper level. Here is what I wrote earlier this year.

“This morning just before beginning my yoga routine I was nearly overwhelmed by a reverence of all the things that were in the room. All the things we have collected to surround us in our living room — furniture, pillows, rugs, plants, an Amazon Echo which drives the wireless speaker, the ceiling fan, and the room itself that came with the house — all its parts. All waiting for me this morning to show up and envelop me in their embrace.

I returned the embrace by taking a deep breath and radiating love and appreciation back to my buddy atoms, cells and electrons that welcomed me into their presence. Sounds a bit strange, I know, but that is the way of the mystic. As I breathed a bit the distinction between my surroundings and me faded a bit. I could feel my body sheath becoming more porous, blending slightly with my surroundings.

Then as I broadened out my view through my eye holes, and took everything in, including the areas outside of the windows. I encompassed the whole scene. No particular focus on one thing but pulling back into my Awareness, listening to myself breathe. And I had a flash of being One with all of what I was perceiving. I was not focused in my head, but my Awareness had broadened out until there was no distinction between me inside the body and me outside the body.

Reverence dawned for the whole thing. The complete amalgamation of all the particles and space that danced in a unified whole. It did seem like a dance, a dance of those “things” outside of me, gathered to serve and interact with me, fusing with the “things” inside of me into a seamless Whole”.

This experience reminded me, yet again, of an earlier core realization I had, “Revere all things, revere all beings, from the ant to the spouse, for what and who they are — a part of me”.

The phrase I came up with to capture this way of seeing is “Oneness Eyes”. Using my Oneness Eyes to see the Oneness of myself in “here” with the Oneness “out there”.

Appreciation To/For The ALL

This sense of Oneness is not an unusual experience. It is the core purpose of the new meditation process I have developed. One in which I acknowledge The ALL (my words for “God”, which for me has less “charge” than my childhood religious concept of the Divine). The process, if done with a sufficient level of mindfulness and awareness, naturally takes me to an experience of Omnipresence.

This Oneness that I speak of in which I am just “being” and can say to The ALL, “Thank you, Isness (another word for The ALL) for your Beingness. For your breath, in and out of Infinity. For your Omniscience, your all-knowingness of that which Is. For allowing me to participate in the dance of the stars and the microbes and sense, incomprehensibly, all things, in all directions.

(I use the word “incomprehensibly” because this experience cannot be comprehended by my human mind. If it could be I would be able to put better words to the experience. As it is, words at best provide metaphors for approximating the experience. The writer’s dilemma.)

Practical “Application” of Appreciation

Before I float away and you stop reading this as being too “Woo Woo”, let me offer a story that is more down to earth. Several years ago, with some difficulty, we bought a house in the Bay Area. Here is what I wrote about that.

“Yesterday we crossed what might be, barring some unusual circumstance, the last hurdle to buying the house we have been trying to acquire for the last two months. We were approved to proceed by our lender. We have been working for in the past 3 years to make this happen. This has been very much an up-and-down journey, full of twists and turns, and some amazing synchronicities.

Today, as I used to say in North Carolina, “I bought me a house”, or, in this case, more correctly, “We bought ourselves a house”. We went to our agent’s office to sign loan documents with a mobile notary representing the title company for the loan. Everything was pretty much as we expected, and we signed a very thick pile of papers to be presented back to the lender for final, final review. We are only days from the money from the bank being released for the sale.

Whew. Yeah. And now the fun begins, the next steps in the process of our creating — follow through on that which has unfolded itself as desired. In this case, remodeling a home in significant need of upgrades and updating. To keep the cost down we will be significantly involved in every stage and I, having a lot of experience with home remodeling projects, will do a lot of the work myself and/or supervise others in doing the work.

Often, working on a goal and having it begin to unfold as envisioned, is followed by additional work on the details required to bring the thing desired to fruition. The work needed to shepherd the project along and launch off into the mystery of the project itself. I say mystery because, as much planning as I do to manage a project, the plan seldom turns out exactly as expected. There are a lot of things that will require problem-solving and creativity in order to have it all “turn out”.

We took a moment late this afternoon to go over to the house and do a walk-through with our agent to see the condition the owner has left the house in. He brought a nice bottle of wine and we sat out on the deck, enjoyed the view, and celebrated our meeting a key milestone. I think it is important to celebrate along the way. Not only is celebrating an acknowledgment of everybody and everything that has contributed to a success but celebrating is a high vibrational thing to do.

Celebrating is also a time to thank internally and externally everybody who has contributed, to acknowledge the magic that occurred along the way (especially if the journey has been difficult), and to offer appreciation to Spirit for Its contribution to the success. For some time now, our creative process has been about allowing and encouraging Spirit to be present in the process.

Offer Sincere Appreciation to Others

Another form of thankfulness is sincere appreciation to others for the contribution they have made to our lives. Something I learned years ago when I began leading my first work-group. Frequently expressed, specific appreciation for the work that my team did to contribute to our success was part of the reason for our success. Something I had learned from several excellent leaders I had been blessed with knowing.

One of the things we did six years ago when we first moved to Vallejo was to join a fitness center and begin taking a Tai Chi class. I continue to do this gentle form of Chinese martial arts to this day and expect to continue indefinitely. We had a great teacher in Peter Paul, a true master of the art. My story about that:

“I decided yesterday, after a particularly satisfying Tai Chi session at home, that after today’s class I would go over to Peter and thank him for being my sensei, my teacher, and to express how much I appreciated his guidance and teaching. (In alignment with my recent deepened appreciation for the value of thanking all things in my life for their existence and support.) Lynne and I had not been to class for several weeks and there were some new people in attendance. This usually slows down the proceedings as Peter attempts to integrate the new people into the ongoing group and that can sometimes be a bit unsettling.

Today was different. I found myself in a particularly good mood. I found the warmup exercises exhilarating as I did them in a very mindful way. Something was up. When we began the day’s execution of the Competition Style (one of three we sometimes do) I could feel the ease and focus on what I was doing. And my concern with technique, and sequence, and breathing disappeared. I was just moving. Illumination came upon me. I was flying. Wow. Fabulous. For the balance of the session, I remained in that state. Happy. Joyful, really. At peace. Connected to everybody around me.

When I went over to Peter he lit up. Because he could see that I was lit up. I expressed my appreciation for him as planned and then I said, “You know, 6 months ago you mentioned that flying was an experience I might have at some point in the future. I did not understand what you meant at the time and was determined to find out. Today I experienced it. Flying.” He replied, “I can see on your face that this is true.” “It’s an experience of Higher Consciousness while doing the sequence, isn’t it?” “Yes”, he replied. “Exactly right.” “I felt myself massaging the Universe, and the Universe was massaging me.” He nodded.

“Furthermore”, he went on, “The experience is even stronger when you are in a group and everybody in the group is having the same experience. There have been times when only a few of the die-hards in the group show up and we fly together.” “Ah,” I replied, excited at the thought, “The next step for me to experience. I look forward to it.” And he departed.

Now that was a magical conversation,” I concluded in my journal.

This One is Not Always So Easy — Bless Difficulty

Everyone has difficulties that come along in their lives. Master Teacher stories are full of difficulties overcome. Buddha, Muhammad, Jesus, and others had them. One desirable response to an unexpectedly high expense to fix the car that your neglect caused, is to say,” Thank you. I will take care of it. I created the problem., I’ll deal with it.” And to go straight to Buddha mind for the appropriate response to the situation. A Spirit-stimulated response, not a human one.

Fortunately, we have an ally in our Higher Consciousness. To bring into focus the Power of the Now, and benefit from just being Here. In the Moment. With the difficulty. As it is unfolding right in front of us, when it seems that there is nothing that we can do but be swept along. And then can we remember to say to ourselves, “Peace Be Still”. And breathe. Allow Spirit to flow through and go to work on our behalf. And guide our actions. Or remember to ask for a Best Possible Outcome.

Our difficulties are of our own making. They are our children, the outgrowth of our physical/mental/emotional/spiritual makeup as it emerges into the world. It has been said that, while we cannot control all of our circumstances (an arguable premise but let’s accept it for the moment) we can control our responses to those circumstances.

And if we take full, personal responsibility for being cause, creator of the problem, we can go within to our Divine Selves where a number of options emerge that can neutralize the situation:

• A Sacred Breath

• A Mediation

• Channeling our Higher Selves into present time.

• Self-examination for personal patterns that cause such difficulties, in order to forgive and transform them.

• Checking our hearts and our gut for revelation.

• Reasoning with trusted ones to look for clues to the answer.

All good ways to work through difficulty by going Within.

Lastly, Thanking Higher Consciousness

If you have read any of my books you know that I refer to my Soul as my Higher Consciousness. Affectionately, “HiC”. I have developed a strong relationship with that part of myself. It is truly my Buddy.

Here is how I thanked my Soul recently.

This morning I found myself in a state of thankfulness to The ALL. For being The ALL. And birthing my consciousness, within ITS consciousness. For being the Mother force, if you will, for that birthing. I was aware that I was an Eternal Being and happy about being That.

Made of The ALL, and surrounded, out to Infinity, by The ALL, I could perceive the underpinning substance that supports what I was seeing. And the intelligence that somehow dreamed all of The ALL up. Existence, consciousness, is a gift.

“Thank you ALL and HiC (my personalized Higher Consciousness Presence) for the opportunity to evolve back to You.” is how I put it in words.

Next Steps

Here are a few gratitude meditations and exercises:

• Make an ongoing list of the things you are grateful for. And answer the question: “What about these are you grateful for?”

• In the morning, before you get up, name 5, or 10, things you are grateful for.

• Consider things that have ended up in your home and thank each step that got them there. I thank the supply chain for the furniture that is distributed around my house, thanking the many people who have made that possible.

• Serve another person to show your gratitude for them.

• Say simply and sincerely “Thank you”, for things done for you. Offering something specific about what you appreciate can amplify the gesture.

The Greatest Accomplishment a Human Can Reach.

What do you think is the greatest accomplishment a human can reach? The Nobel Prize? President of the United States? The most followers on Facebook? Nope. The greatest accomplishment any human can achieve in this life on Earth, or on any life on Earth, is the realization of Christ Consciousness.

Before you stop reading, thinking me a religious fanatic, give a listen. Who are among the most revered of all humans throughout history? Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Franklin Roosevelt, Elvis,, Einstein, Nelson Mandela? Not by a long shot (except for the last two).

Among the most revered are the following: Krishna, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed, Lao Tzu, Moses and others. The common theme of their existence? The realization of Christ Consciousness which inspired them to know and do the phenomenal things they did, and to teach what they knew to their immediate followers. This message, because of its revolutionary nature, spread their words around the world and down through history.

And yet little is REALLY understood about what they were saying. Religions have grown up around them with no real comprehension of the core of their teachings. Religious misunderstandings then get turned into dogma and the essence of their messages is lost in the need to put them on a pedestal and declare them the only true Son of God and to put their achievements out of the reach of the average person.

What they all had to say, really, was quite simple. “I have had an experience of Higher Consciousness and see the world from a different perspective than I was taught. I have learned that this world, really is a world of Spirit/God, and that I am one with that Spirit/God. All of you (my followers) are also one with Spirit/God. Use my life to inspire you to learn this for yourself.”

What Is Christ Consciousness?

When I grew up in the Lutheran Church in North Carolina I thought Jesus’ last name was Christ. It was “Jesus Christ” this and” Jesus Christ” that. It was only later that I came to understand that “Christ” is a term of reverence that applied to Jesus because of the elevated state of awareness that he achieved in his lifetime. A term that applied to all of our Master Teachers who achieved a state of Enlightenment or Illumination. A state that transcended human consciousness and moved up into the realm of Spirit Consciousness. Homo Spiritus. They had an Awareness of the Allness of the Universe and their Oneness with it.

Here are other terms that have been applied to our Master Teachers::

“Anointed one”. Meaning one who had been anointed by Spirit to be who they became. Anointed by whom? Holy Spirit, God, Allah? No. By their understanding they were surrounded by an aura of awareness that caused people that came in contact with them to be healed by being in their very presence.“Buddha”. “Buddha”, like “Christ” or “Krishna” is a term of reverence for the person so named. There are said to have been 27 “Buddhas” prior to the man commonly known as Buddha. Gautama Buddha. Each previous Buddha had similarly achieved a sustained, elevated state of consciousness.“The Only Son of God”. Hardly. In truth.  We are all Sons and Daughters of God. We are all Spirit Beings who have slipped into an amazingly complex biomechanical vehicle for our adventure on Earth. We become Sons and Daughters when we, like our Master Teachers, elevate our awareness into a heightened state, if only for a moment.“The Enlightened One”. Illumined. Sufficiently developed in their consciousness that Spirit, which lies with each of us, radiated from them almost like a bright light.

It’s ironic, therefore, that we have turned our Teachers into unreachable beings who must be worshipped and glorified. Our Teachers didn’t want to be worshipped and glorified. Rather they wanted their message to be an encouragement for us to follow in their footsteps, and become Christs, also.

Listen to them (things they said): Mohammed said “Thou art a mortal being, And thou art the Eternal One; Know thyself, through the light of wisdom. Except Thee there exists none.”The Hindu guru Ramana, The ordinary man lives in the brain unaware of himself in the Heart. The enlightened one lives in the Heart. When he moves about and deals with people and things, he knows that what he sees is not separate from the one Supreme Reality which he realized in the Heart as his own Self.”Jesus said, “The Kingdom of God/Spirit is within you” and “My Father and I are One.”Carl Jung said it this way, “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

Even now these sayings sound revolutionary. Yet don’t they sound reachable? Don’t they sound like encouragement to go and do likewise? Not impossible aspirations, really. Yet sufficiently worthy of being said to be “The Greatest Accomplishment a Human Can Achieve” of those who are able to follow a path to reach a similar place in consciousness.

How? Now That’s the $24,000 question, Isn’t It? Here are Five AvenuesMeditation, individually and in groups with a system that can take you there. The Higher Consciousness Meditation, the Tool for Transformation that I developed, is specifically designed for a person to get in touch with her/his own Christ Consciousness. This brief but very powerful meditation process is described in detail in The Meditation Book I wrote in 2018.Service to others, if done well, can lead to transcendence. I once asked a monk if he is able to see the “Buddha Mind” in the homeless people in the Tenderloin of San Francisco he works with. He said “no”. Pity. That was the gift that Mother Theresa had. The ability to see the Christ in the face of those she helped to live and die in the slums of Calcutta. Seeing the Higher Consciousness in others indicates a Higher Consciousness in the one who is able to see that. Service can be a vehicle.Seeing the Higher Consciousness in our children. We all have that ability because we are Eternal Beings from the time we dive into the body we elect to inhabit on Planet Earth. This is most obvious to the blessed mothers and fathers who can “see” their children this way. But this ability, this “sense”, must be cultivated. Remembered in the hectic day to day of trying to guide a child toward adulthood. An attitude of appreciation. The ability to see Spirit in all things and have gratitude for them. This is another skill that has to be cultivated, or for the fortunate, that just “flashes” upon us in a moment of Amazing Grace. That fortunate one, however, has to be open-hearted enough for the flash to occur. It’s not for the self-absorbed and the spiritually blind. Seeing with Sacred Eyes is a prerequisite. Being grateful for the smallest of things, an experienced experience. And last, and most importantly, become a quiet, peaceful Observer of the human scene as it passes before you, its good as well as its evil. Realizing that it is The ALL, God, unfolding and unfolding in the direction of growth, expansion and evolution in just the way that it should. And Bless it. This is mindfulness (see The Mindfulness Book for additional explanation). Conclusion

My challenge to you is to take these words to heart and accept the challenge to engage with, to undertake this “Greatest Accomplishment”. Anyone can do it without fanfare because we all have a “Kingdom of Heaven Within” and the ability to touch the hem of Spirit sufficiently to reach the State of Beingness called “Illumination”. Illumination is reachable by anyone who seeks for it. Who opens herself/himself to the experience.

Have a “Fear Not” Halloween

Why “Fear Not” Halloween?  Well, because it is Halloween Week.  This is said to be a time when the “veil” between 3-dimensional reality and 5-DIMENSIONAL REALITY is said to be thinner than usual.  And is interpreted by some to mean that ghosts and goblins are loose.

Foolish, of course, because 5D REALITY is the “heavenly” place we go after we take our last breath on Planet Earth.  Not a place to fear.

But humans are fear-based creatures.  Fear is our most fundamental emotional driver. And originates from being so vulnerable in the early days of our species’ evolution, when we hid out in caves with only our wits with which to survive. Having no large fangs, strong jaws, sharp claws, or fleet feet, we were easy pickings for species that did.

Though we have come to dominate the planet, fear is still what causes us to act more like a wild animal at times than the dominant species we are.  Fear of death, fear of being called out, fear of the pain of every stripe, fear of being alone.

Our human minds are uniquely wired to help us avoid these things and the many other things we are afraid of, real or imagined.  This is one element of what Buddha described as human “suffering”, which we all experience in our human condition in our own unique way.

 Why So?

From the time we emerge from the womb, a scary experience in itself, we are taught to be wary of the big, bad world we are born into.  “Dog eat dog world”.  “Only the strong survive”.  Ideas that we are surrounded by, verbally and psychically.  And our minds, fueled by the emotional threat underlying these notions, latch onto them and they become the conscious and subconscious motivators for much of our behavior.

Sad, but true.  And the clues that this is the case are all around us.  Passed on by our parents and their struggle to survive and thrive and emphasized by the lessons we learn at school from our teachers training us how to get ahead and compete with our peers, and our peers themselves, who are often mean to each other.

The images we see on TV and in the movies frequently reinforce the message.  Some national news shows devote a little time at the end of the show for a “good” story to offset the horrible things we see ourselves doing to each other every day, every week, every year.  Leads to the homily, “There but for the grace of God, go I” to soften the blows to our subconscious minds.

And many of us have experienced trauma.  Childhood accidents.  Dysfunctional families.  Less than neighborly communities.  Economic inequities.  Unaddressed difficulties and confusing/mixed messages about how the “world works”.  Offered by others who themselves are bent and twisted.  Few of us escape childhood without our fair share of such trauma.  Not to mention COVID and the train wreck of climate change bearing down on us.

It’s no wonder we end up confused and fearful about the present and about the future.

“Fear Not”

Yet there is another perspective.  One of my favorite teachers, Joel Goldsmith, 20th Century mystic and author, puts it this way, “When we stop to think about it, we cannot help but realize that everything in the world that we have ever feared is external to our own being, whether it is a person or an army, whether bullets or poison, climate, weather or storms…Regardless of what it is it is always something external to us  The first secret, therefore, that we learn in meditation, the very first revelation that comes to us, is that all power is within us and that there is no external power that can act on us.”

He goes on to make the point, which I wholeheartedly endorse, that if we are to live a fearless life, that has to come from within.  He quotes Jesus of Nazereth, who says that the secret to life is knowing that “the Kingdom of God lies within”, the same message that all of our Master teachers have taught.  And that by seeking the Kingdom of God, Spirit, we can to draw to us all the good, perfection, joy, love, safety and security we wish to have.

My Higher Consciousness, my Spirit Within, whom I have come to know and have important conversations with, communicated to me as I sat writing and meditating one night over some concern that was causing me fear, There is nothing to be afraid of. I am with you every step of the way, and, in fact, am paving the way for you.  Do not be afraid.  It just stops up the flow of Spirit energy through your system and into your world. Your realization of Friday was important, because it is the message I have for you all the time—all is right with the Universe, including your well-being.   I know that sometimes you even doubt the validity of Me and the path you are on.  And that you do not want to admit to these thoughts. Not to worry.  It is a common thought- form somewhere along the Path where you are right now.  It is part of the process of shedding the skin of the you that you used to be, the 3d you.   The 5th Dimensional you is emerging stronger and stronger.  This coincides with your deepening meditations and your more frequent remembrance of who and what you are.  And of our relationship.  And of the safety of the here and now moments where there is nothing going on except Eternity.  Hang in there.  It only gets better.  (More such messages in my book The Manifestation Book).

Making Soul Contact

This occurred in 2016 when I was making a deep dive into my meditation practice and having amazing insights into the nature of my life and who I was becoming, a more aware human being.  This Soul Contact, however, was new and still startling.  Since then, it has become commonplace, a near-daily occurrence.  This partnership has enabled me to write 5, soon to be 6, books award-winning about meditation and related topics.  It was my Higher Consciousness, who I call “HiC”, from whom I learned many important lessons, including my understanding that I am an Eternal Being. Occupying an incredibly complicated bio-mechanical vehicle, not merely a human being.  And that our job, together, is to grow and evolve and express that understanding in the most potent way possible.

It’s also from this Soul contact that I have learned one of the most important lessons that I now understand—that I am deeply and personally responsible for the quality of my life based on the quality of my consciousness.  The more elevated my consciousness, the more clearly I experience my Eternal Beingness.  And the more clearly I experience my Eternal Beingness, the more I attract, as a side benefit, the people, circumstances, and things into my life that I need to grow and evolve to fulfill my destiny on Planet Earth.  “Like begets like”.

Fear seldom darkens my door these days.  When it does, I easily recognize that it is not real and I know how to dissolve it before it takes hold in my psyche.  Issues do come up, of course, from time to time.  Right now, I am experiencing a “vibration” diagnosed as hip arthritis.  It hurts sometimes.  I am aware, however, that in the face of Spirit, this (and all conditions), are malleable and subject to change and improvement.

Some Important Principals to ConsiderEvery condition emerges as an out-picturing of a mental misunderstanding of who and what I am.  On one level, it is a metaphor that intrudes on my natural state of harmony and it becomes my challenge to discover what that is.  I may even see it as an opportunity to dissolve whatever “glitch” has occurred internally for healing.Spiritual healing can occur when we can recognize several things about ourselves. First, that we are Eternal Beings, One with Spirit, and at that level not subject to the rules of human beingness.  Second, that we have a Soul, a Higher Consciousness, to whom we can turn when there is an appearance of difficulty and can involve in solving the condition and the source of the condition.  And third, that we are One with The ALL (God) which is the only power in the Universe and that the condition has no power in the face of the Infinite Intelligence of The ALL.We can’t deal with the cause of what seems to be a fearful condition at the level of the condition. To deal with conditions that cause fear requires a change in consciousness.  A change of consciousness from the level of 3-dimensional human consciousness to a Higher Consciousness at the level of 5-Dimensional Spiritual Consciousness. The Key to Dissolving Fear is Meditation and Spirit Contemplation

While there are many spiritual techniques and traditions that we can turn to for help, the focus of such techniques has to be on a change in consciousness. Which leads to an experience of Higher Consciousness and awareness of the Allness and Power of Spirit. Without that experience, such efforts are just mental gymnastics.

I have found that meditation, both sit-down and mindfulness meditation, are the best, most direct path to such a change.  Primarily because meditation causes one to shift awareness away from human thought, and fear contemplation, to experiences of a 5-Dimensional nature.  To a transformation in thought and understanding of the fundamental nature of who and what we are.  Eternal Beings.

The meditation process I have developed, Higher Consciousness Meditation, as outlined in my book The Meditation Book, is specifically designed to create this recognition.  To result in an experience of The ALL and our Oneness with It.  To have an experience of our Soul, our Higher Consciousness, and our Oneness with It.  And to have an experience of our Eternal Beingness.

Higher Consciousness Meditation bypasses the traditional meditation approaches which focus on mind training and even mental suppression.  And instead, focuses on providing the user a more direct path to the experience of Illumination.

As well as a path to putting aside fear for the experience of peace that comes with putting aside our suffering.   “Fear Not”.

Give it a try.

My 6th book the Meditation Journal launches this week (not sure when because Amazon is being ornery).  It’s a companion book to The Meditation Book (Book 2 in my Higher Consciousness Meditation Series). My best seller at about 5000 copies sold.

To celebrate the launch of this book, which is a paperback, I have made electronic copies of all 5 of my first books available for $7 at Amazon.  A $21 value.  BEGINNING MONDAY, OCTOBER 31st.

This will be available for THIS WEEK ONLY. Here is the LINK TO THE HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS BOOK SERIES.
