The Draka & The Giant releases in ebook this week! I'm satisfied at finally finishing the Elioud Legacy series. I'm a fan of Ilona Andrews and her Hidden Legacy series, especially the opening trilogy with Nevada and Connor. (Can you guess what inspired the name of my series? :-) In a small way, my series is an homage to the writing duo's skill and imagination, though there are also large differences. Her books are always set in the U.S. and feature a first-person POV from the female main character. Her romances are urban fantasy romances, that is, she goes all out in changing our recognizable world into one visibly and clearly defined by magic. Everyone knows about the magic, though only some are magic users. My romantic thrillers are set in the real world that has a hidden, supernatural component of which most are ignorant. But we both feature a lot of realistic combat and technology.

4 out of 5 stars on Reedsy Discovery
Reedsy Discovery reviewer Charlotte Potterton loved The Flower & The Blackbird, rating it four stars out of five.
Almost more importantly to me, Ms. Potterton believes that fans of Ilona Andrews will enjoy it!
Please visit @Reedsy Discovery to read and upvote Ms. Potterton's review. The more upvotes it receives, the more likely it will be included in the weekly Reedsy Discovery newsletter.

Olivia's Situation Report

Situation Report
It’s been a tough week. Mihàil and András have been at each other’s throats. I know Mihàil is getting frustrated with András’s attitude and reckless behavior. He can read András’s harmonics as well as anyone, and they’ve been disturbed ever since Beta left. I know Mihàil understands András’s unhappiness—empathizes in fact—but we need to rely on András and that’s hard to do right now.
My heart aches for the change in András. He was like a big, affectionate puppy, always smiling and joking. And eating! I couldn’t bake enough to satisfy his appetite for pastries, so I started ordering them by the dozens from the bakery in Fushë-Arrez. (I’m pretty sure I funded the owner’s summer vacation two years running. Good thing we have Miles and Willem here often to eat them.)
And that hair. I used to threaten to take the kitchen shears to András’s bangs to get it out of his eyes. Now he wears it in a military cut, high and tight, and I’d rather not see the flat hardness of his gaze. I was never afraid of him before, but sometimes when we’re out tracking daemons, he scares me a little. Worse, I’m scared for him. I think his recklessness stems from not caring whether he lives or dies.
Mihàil once told me he saw something odd about Beta’s harmonic signature after she and András were wounded in Macedonia, but when I pressed him for details, he just shook his head and said it didn’t pay to speculate. I can’t prove it, but I think Asmodeus had something to do with her disappearance. Ever since she’s been gone, the daemonic activity has been off the register in Central Europe. Now this daemonic horde shows up in Munich and stays just out of our reach. It feels like we’re being led, but I have no idea where or why.
Zophiel hasn’t been around much either, and when she does show up, she sidesteps any questions I ask about Beta. Sometimes I go out alone and try to find Beta’s harmonic signature myself. It’s pointless because my Elioud blood isn’t nearly as strong as András’s, nor can I track harmonic activity the way he can. And he hasn’t found her in all this time. But it makes me feel a little better to look out at the Albanian mountains and imagine her hunkering down in a small cabin, where she can find some peace in her solitude.
And when she’s ready, she’ll return to us. Because a storm is coming. I can feel it in my bones, and I want to know that Beta is safe with us when it breaks.
