24 Days!

Five years in the making…

In just 24 days, I will be releasing Private Desires, Seth and Sasha’s story. It was originally supposed to be book two in the Second Chances in Hollywood series, but I fought to write it for five years. I could never get their story quite write.

I was deep in the trenches, desperately trying to write their story when my publisher offered to help. I am so grateful to her for taking what amounted to less than an hour to help me get this story on track and headed in the right direction. I loved writing Seth and Sasha’s story and I cannot wait to share it with the world!

Can an architect and a construction worker find love amidst the concrete and the steel?

Thanks to his friendship with a celebrity, Seth Mitchell’s reputation as a partying ladies’ man precedes him. But there’s more to him than drinking, dating, and women. He’s ready to leave the reputation behind as he works to expand his successful construction business from New York to the West Coast. If he keeps himself busy, maybe he can forget the girl who got away.

Sasha Baker lives a life ruled by straight lines and concrete plans. Her no-nonsense attitude bleeds into every facet of her life, including her personal life. Divorced at a young age, a heartbroken Sasha keeps everyone at arm’s length, except her mom and her best friend. She pours herself into her job as an architect, replacing love with work.

Desperate to impress her boss and prove her worth, Sasha challenges Seth to take over construction on a flailing project. Seth agrees, swearing it has nothing to do with Sasha and everything to do with business. But what starts as a professional collaboration soon ignites a spark that neither Seth nor Sasha can ignore.

As they attempt to navigate their newfound feelings, Sasha must confront her fears, her past, and her ex-husband in order to find love with Seth.

Happy 2024!

Happy New Year! Are you excited for 2024? I know I am! I have a lot of events happening in 2024, as well as a lot planned! I can’t wait to see how this year goes!

My reading goal for 2024 is pretty straightforward–I want to read at least 1 book a month for a total of 12 books.

My ambitious goal for this year is that I want to write 820 words a day, which is a total 300,000 words for the year.

Yes, I might be a little crazy, but that’s okay. I have lofty ambitions. If I can do it, it will make for an exciting year!

My other goals are to be better at posting to social media, posting here on my website, and keeping up with my newsletter. I invite you to stick around and see if I can keep it together!

Happy New Year to all of you!

Can’t Fight the Feelings (Loves of Lakeside Book 4)

Falling in love with his best friend’s sister wasn’t part of the plan.

Mason Adler has been in love with Nate’s sister since they were kids. He thought he’d finally put those feelings behind him until a heartbroken Natasha shows up at their apartment in the middle of the night, needing a place to stay. After she moves in, Mason puts his feelings aside to give her whatever she needs.

Natasha Garin’s life is in disarray. After she leaves her cheating boyfriend, she’s forced to move in with her twin brother Nate and his best friend Mason. Living with two bachelors isn’t easy, especially when long-buried feelings for her brother’s best friend start to surface. Mason shouldn’t be the guy she wants; they’re friends and that’s it. To her dismay, fighting those feelings gets harder with every passing day.

In the fourth book of the Loves of Lakeside series, two friends discover long-buried feelings are more complicated than they ever could have imagined—fighting them might not be worth the battle.

Daily Prompt 3/9/23

What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.

I hate it when someone asks me how my writing is going. It’s such a hard question to answer. Some days, if I write ten words, I think it was a successful day. Other times, if I write anything less than five hundred words, I feel like a failure. It’s very subjective.

But telling someone that I only wrote ten words is another thing altogether. Someone who isn’t a writer isn’t going to understand that a ten-word day is a good day when it’s coupled with brainstorming, outlining, and successful marketing. I feel like there’s a stigma attached to being a writer; if you don’t write everyday and write a lot, you aren’t a success. It takes work to move past the stigma that sits on your chest and makes you feel like a failure. It’s a work-in-progress.

You might be wondering, what is your answer, Mimi, when someone asks how your writing is going?

“It’s going well, thanks for asking.”

All I Want for Christmas Review

All I Want for Christmas by Maggie Knox

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this super cute holiday romance. You do have to set aside any issues you might have with the timeline of the story (it gets a bit wonky at times), but if you can get past it, this book is a sweet and fun read. I’ll admit, there were tears at the end. Wonderful and fun story!
