Angel Maker: 1-Year Anniversary!

Wow. Angel Maker is a year old already.

If you've watched any of my Lives, listened to any of my podcast guestings or interviews, then you probably know the story of Angel Maker. How I wrote three Jamie novels before this, and how the series wasn't really working all that well. I'd always planned Angel Maker from the start, but I always felt like Jamie had to earn it.

I got three books done, got myself acclimated and ready to write it, and then made a decision -- if Angel Maker didn't take, if it flopped, then I was going to draw a line under it, and quit.

Angel Maker (DI Jamie Johansson, #1) by Morgan Greene

Yep, that's right. Before I began writing it, Angel Maker is pretty much Jamie Johansson's swan song. It was going to be a catharsis for her, the closure she needed for the series to just ... end.

But then I wrote it, and I remember doing so with a sort of recklessness and also a sort of peace. Like I was writing an elegy of sorts.

I had nothing to lose, really, but I still wanted to go on. I knew that I had to think bigger, be bolder, more deliberate. I needed to leave it all out there. And that's what I did. And once I was finished, I didn't know what to think. So I gave it to some readers, and they all read it faster than I expected, and all came back really, really positive about it.

And that's when I got nervous, because I began to hope.

The launch was small, and slow. But then ... it seemed to snowball, and pick up momentum. I got swept up in it, and now, flash forward a year, there are seven Jamie Johansson novels in circulation, three more planned for this year, and no hint of slowing down.

We're practically at 4,000 reviews (which has me in disbelief), and are going to cross that threshold at almost exactly a year on.

I'm staggered by the response and the support the book has received, so I just wanted to say thank you. To everyone who bought and read it, to everyone who told others about it, lent their copies to people, who made it the success it has been.

I'm going to try and post more here. So do let me know if there's anything you'd like to read about specifically and I'll endeavour to make it happen!

Until then --
Morgan
