Caleb Smith is the 16-year-old visionary behind Peacebunny Island, a 22 acre animal sanctuary on the Mississippi River where youth guardians oversee the care and training of rare and rescued rabbits who have the personality to become comfort bunnies / therapy animals.

Smith lives near Minneapolis with his mom and dad where he mobilizes volunteers to help take care of a colony of furry friends at Peacebunny Cottage and share hope and hoppiness.

The Peacebunny Unit travels to bring comfort to with veterans, the grieving or wounded, seniors in assisted living or hospice care, families with special needs, and much more.

It was supe…moreI set aside two hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays to be devoted to reading journal entries and try to add the details surrounding the scene. It was super fun to watch home movie clips and start with the dialogue and go from there. Setting aside the time was key or it would never happen. (less)
