Inside Beretta
Though the story is a historical fiction in the backdrop of many wars, what stands out is the human drama and emotions that took the story forward for years together. There is an incident during the course of the story when Jai’s friend Niccolo takes him to his girlfriend’s house in Rome. Niccolo’s girlfriend Catherine offers wine to both the guests at home. Though he doesn’t drink, Jai accepts the drink and consumes it without giving much thought. Niccolo later questions him as to why he had done that and Jai’s answer baffles him. Since the lady didn’t know about him, it was not her fault to offer it and so Jai drank it wholeheartedly with a wish to God that they both live together happily till the end.
Their friendship grows by the day and Niccolo cannot control his emotions at the time when he has to leave his friend. Ten years of war for them together was like a holiday. They enjoyed every single day while everybody else longed to meet their loved ones. This friendship between Jai and Niccolo is just one instance in this book of the many other relations and emotions blended together in war and peace. Every character in the book has enough prominence and they carry their influence in the story till the end. Jai’s gold chain carrying a locket of mother India signifies the kind of emotions he is made up of.
Two worlds are blended to travel on parallel roads and they end up achieving a big mission. Most of the incidents from the beginning till the end are ironic and carry deeper meaning. Jai’s dream to serve in the military is accomplished for a greater cause at the end. Though the Italian connection in the story is a pure coincidence, it adds the necessary punch to the entire narration. It is immensely surprising that the collapse of the Italian empire and the formation of an independent India happened in the same year. The human struggle in any war is the same and this is an odyssey of joy but not of struggle. Jai’s emotion after seeing both the guns from war when they end up in his hand is priceless. The references to the Indian Red Cross and the background behind the establishment of the national defense academy, is an effort to bring a conclusion to all the characters inside the story.
The story answers many questions of struggle and survival. The end surely justifies the means. All of us definitely have a role to play on this planet and I tried to present it in a unique style. This is a story of love, war, friendship and patriotism. I personally liked the fact that the story hasn’t ended and I am eagerly waiting for the resurrection of the mighty weapon along with you all.

Beretta 606824 - An Intro
I remember reading a story from the Indian mythology long time ago and it struck hard, very deep into my mind. Once a wildfire quickly spread across the forest and soon all the trees were brought down to ashes. But birds hanging on a tree haven’t moved a little while they watched the fire spread its wings all around them. The shocked tree asked the birds why they were holding back instead of flying. It also explained the fact that God had given them wings to fly and requested them to do that. The birds replied that the tree had given them shelter, fruits to eat and happiness to spread.
‘Together if we lived, together we must vanish’, they answered the tree of life. The story reminded me of the many sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, elders and by the soldiers, for all of us as a nation. This is the very nation which was known as the golden sparrow in the past because of its rich heritage. This book is to my country which has given me a great past and inheritance to always lift my head up in pride.
Our classrooms have consistently taught us about all those sacrifices from the past. And it’s time that we not only study but act like how we should after learning them. Be it lifestyle, habit, education, food, entertainment, health or any other aspect of living, elders always say that the past was the golden period that was bygone. If that is true, then we must question ourselves as to where the technological advancement is leading all of us. This is the question every youth of this generation must ask themselves. Just when technology began to overrule the brain, an invisible virus raised alarming questions to governments across the globe. It has brought in equality in terms of fear. Everybody is equal when it comes to survival and facing something inevitable. Though this might not be the kind of equality that Mahatma and many of our elders would have dreamt of, I believe that this pandemic is surely an eye-opener for the future generations. I don’t know if I should thank the virus for giving me ample time to write this historical book.
Gandhi Jayanti was the only festival during my childhood apart from the Independence Day and the Republic Day, when we were distributed sweets in school. The love for the saint began to grow up from there and increased as we studied the freedom movement. The movement reminds us of many other great leaders apart from Mahatma and this book is a sincere tribute to all of them.
An emperor who wanted to conquer the world, a leader who wanted to liberate a nation, a fighter who wants to protect the world and finally, destiny in the form of a gun binding all the phenomena together to define a possible future. This book is a work of Historical fiction from the experiences of a person’s journey into the realm of a fantasy world, through the pages of world history, culminating with one of the most important events that changed the course of the 20th century. I intend to bring forward the fact of courage, that the weapon that dared to open fire on Mahatma, is a legend in its own right. This is a work of my imagination to use it again, this time to protect Dharma. The irony that Gandhi mahatma was killed by a weapon which was ordered by Mussolini after vowing support for the cause of Indian independence might look imaginary. But we achieved independence in the very year in which the mighty Italian empire collapsed. The journey of the protagonist Jai along with the fascist special gun is historic as it ensembles diverse people from the past and the present. I believe that every person has a role to play in this world. The fight for territory, property, religion and supremacy will only lead us to destruction. The journey is ironic as well as iconic, reminiscing some of the very important events of history panning several continents over a period of spectacular time. I have taken the liberty to add more fun and drama to make it a thrilling experience. Each chapter is symbolically represented by a unique color which expresses the underlying emotion in the chapter. I didn’t want the language to be very sophisticated as I feel this book deserves to be read by all sections of the society. I hope everyone enjoys this journey. I thank all the people and the events that inspired me in this mission. A special thank you once again to my family, friends and my nation, the reason behind this cherished dream. And to God for the continuous support and strength that he always gives me in all my efforts. We are destined to witness many more changes in this world as the future unfolds. While the change is inevitable, let’s all work it out for the better. Bhagavadgita says, ‘yato dharma thatho jaya’. Where there is dharma, there is victory.
