Beta Swap – Freaky Friday for Writers!
The 2003 film, Freaky Friday, was a fun comedy about Dr. Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her teenaged daughter, Anna (Lindsay Lohan), who have a challenging mother-daughter relationship. A fortune cookie message leads to a mystical body swap and they must each pretend to be the other until they can figure out how toContinue reading "Beta Swap – Freaky Friday for Writers!"

My First Podcast Interview!
Writing a book is just the beginning with marketing becoming an even more important part of the publishing process to get your story out. After writing a fiction or nonfiction book, I have sent e-mails, created social media posts, distributed press releases, done readings, shot short videos, printed postcards, updated websites, and participated in in-personContinue reading "My First Podcast Interview!"

Merlin ID & the Sweet Tweets of Summer!
As a kid growing up in Massachusetts, my mother loved birds and taught us to feed the birds in the backyard with leftover bread. Like the song “Feed the Birds” in the Oscar-winning 1964 movie, Mary Poppins, about the gentle bird lady on the steps of St. Paul’s Cathedral, we kidded my mother about beingContinue reading "Merlin ID & the Sweet Tweets of Summer!"

Fiber Art Fun from Buck Store Molds!
What do you do with half of a buck store plastic Easter egg? Plenty! I used it as a mold for a fiber art project, of course! With The Remade Bridesmaid, my rom-com novel, out on submission to publishers and my talks on She Soars: Trailblazing Female Pilots in Florida wrapping up, I wanted toContinue reading "Fiber Art Fun from Buck Store Molds!"

Women’s History Month Is Alive and Well!
March is Women’s History Month and I enjoyed posting and presenting on women’s history. I think it is so important to keep the stories of female progress and achievements alive at a time when some want to devalue women’s accomplishments. Here’s some of my highlights from Women’s History Month. Share your stories, too! WOW It’sContinue reading "Women’s History Month Is Alive and Well!"

On Submission…. Again!
To most authors, being on submission is a double-edged sword, both exciting and nerve-wracking. It’s exciting because it means your novel is out there being considered by the gatekeepers of each selected publishing house that received a pitch package from your agent. Authors hope for an acceptance or at least some positive feedback on theirContinue reading "On Submission…. Again!"

Soaring into 2025!
The new year started off with a real bang for me! On January 9, I presented for 45 minutes at the St. Petersburg Museum of History (SPMOH) as part of its monthly series, Happy Hour with a Historian. It’s a lively monthly event in which members and nonmembers gather over beer and wine for aContinue reading "Soaring into 2025!"

2024 Has been A Crazy Year!
It started off with COVID knocking me down for three months and ended with back-to-back hurricanes! There were great new family beginnings—a February engagement celebration, a wedding dress try on with our future daughter-in-law, planning a 2025 rehearsal dinner, my nephew’s 50th milestone birthday dinner—and difficult family good-byes with the loss of my ninety-year-old father-in-law.Continue reading "2024 Has been A Crazy Year!"

She Soars Scores RPLA Gold!
On October 19, we enjoyed a fun night at the FWA’s 2024 Florida WritersCon in Altamonte Springs, FL, just outside of my old Orlando stomping grounds. My nonfiction book, She Soars: Trailblazing Female Pilots in Florida (Pineapple Press, 2024) received a Gold Award in the Royal Palm Literary Award competition in its History category! JustContinue reading "She Soars Scores RPLA Gold!"

“The End” Is Just Another Beginning!
For many writers, writing is hard work. Lots of research, writing, revising, rewriting, and editing. Once you write, “THE END”, on your manuscript, you may rethink parts of it or be asked to rewrite portions of it for an agent or editor. And when the book is finally published, it’s not “THE END”, but theContinue reading "“The End” Is Just Another Beginning!"
