Another Blog Holiday!

I am heading off on another blog holiday – taking the time out to finish my next manuscript. Thanks for your patience, it could take a bit of time before it is finished. This is all part of making time to write, as per one of my previous blog posts. In the meantime, I will still be popping in to say hi on my social networking accounts – mainly Twitter and Instagram.

YApocalypse FEATURED AUTHOR

So to wrap up the YApocalypse, I have an author whose books may just have the COOLEST titles. Meet Justin Woolley – who hails from Melbourne, Australia.

YApocalypse Fast Five (quick – before the zombies eat our brains!)

1. Why do you write YApocalypse novels?

I suppose the question as to why I write YApocalypse is two pronged, firstly there’s then question why do I write YA? And then there’s why do I write post-apocalyptic YA?

I started writing for young adults because I used to be a teacher...

Attacked by EXTRA-terrestrials

I was never going to be an astronaut. The mere thought of traveling outside of our atmosphere brings on a panic attack. As a general rule I’m not drawn to stories about space, but I’ve always enjoyed those space-based novels or movies I’ve read or watched over the years regardless. I must say though that I find aliens on Earth much more palatable than in space – even while they are decimating humankind.

There are only FIVE YA alien novels that I can clearly recall – unless you count the copio...

YApocalypse FEATURED AUTHOR

YA author J. M. Wilde has joined the YApocalypse! Wilde is the author of the Eva Series, which is set in AUSTRALIA! Today Wilde answers few apocalypse-themed questions (and reveals she is very much on my team if there is a zombie apocalypse).

YApocalypse Fast Five (quick – we only have ten minutes of breathable air left!)

1. Why do you write YApocalypse novels?

Honestly? Because it’s hella fun. I like to torture my characters (and my readers!) by putting them through hell and seeing what they...

YApocalypse FEATURED AUTHOR

Today I’m featuring author Sean Cummings as part of the YApocalypse! Sean and I shared a publisher a while back and I am SO excited to see the AWESOME YApocalypse novel he has since released – THE NORTH (check it out below!)

YApocalypse Fast Five (before we get locked in the bunker!)

1. Why do you write YApocalypse novels?

THE NORTH was my first kick at the can and it’s the first in a planned series of possibly three books. Will see how it goes. I wanted to write something with a uniquely Ca...

Zombie YApocalypse To-Be-Dead… READ

I previously admitted that I haven’t read HALF as many YA zombie novels as I would have thought. A measly FIVE. Inspired by the YApocalypse, I have gathered up a list of zombie YA novels that are rated four or more stars either on Amazon or Goodreads to add to my TBR list. Here they are, in no particular order (DRUMROLL).

2 Generation Dead

Generation Dead – Daniel Waters

All over the country,a strange phenomenon is occurring. Some teenagers who die aren’t staying dead. But when they come back to life, they ar...

Recommendations for a ZOMBIE YAPOCALYPSE!

My FAV apocalypse is a zombie apocalypse. I’m COMPLETELY addicted to The Walking Dead and now Fear The Walking Dead. I have read a plethora of zombie books – including Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith. I devour zombie movies like a zombie devours brains (see what I did there?) – Shaun of the Dead (HILARIOUS), 28 Days (SCARY), 28 Weeks Later (EVEN SCARIER), World War Z (NOT AS SCARY), I am Legend (NOT AS GOOD AS THE BOOK), etc.

It therefore stands to reason that I would wa...

YApocalypse FEATURED AUTHOR

A BIG thank you to Oregon author JILLIAN TORASSA for kicking off the YApocalypse! I asked Jillian a few questions to find out whether I wanted her on my team during an apocalypse (yep – I DO).

YApocalypse Fast Five (quick – that acid fog is approaching!)

1. Why do you write YApocalypse novels?

Because they’re awesome. There is so much freedom in your world-building, but you don’t have to start from scratch–whatever elements of old Earth life are useful or applicable, you can keep. Anything el...

Aside from having a HORRID cold the past week—I am SMACK BANG in the middle of a writing BONANZA. To make sure I keep the books a-coming—I am taking a mini break from the blog until YApocalypse EXPLODES in SEPTEMBER.

Authors who want to be involved should check out all the details HERE.

Finding — No — MAKING time to write

I take EVERY opportunity I can to write. Having a full time day job that is reasonably demanding, I HAVE to if I want to write more than one paragraph every six months.

I tried and failed to set up a morning writing routine (as suspected, I’m not a morning person AT ALL). I often use my lunch breaks to sit in a cafe or even in my car to write. I sit at a desk in a back corner of the lounge room every night (have attempted to set up a writing studio, but it turns out I suffer from Fear-Of-Miss...
