What a spectacular book! I listened to this as an audiobook and loved every moment. Uhtred is a fantastic character, and the weaving of his story into the legend of Alfred the Great is so well done. Jonathan Keeble narrates the story brilliantly, and ...more

I enjoyed Esslemont's second Malazan Empire book a lot. It took a few hundred pages to get going, and Esslemont could still benefit from introducing his characters more clearly, but once the various powerful forces began to converge the story was fan ...more

A wonderful continuation of this epic, wonderful trilogy. I suspect this trilogy will end up being my books of the year for 2025. Despite knowing how this tragic story ends in advance, David and Stella Gemmell still managed to introduce surprises and ...more
