So you'd like to know a little bit more about baseball
A few people have mentioned wanting some familiarity with baseball. I'm actually relatively new to baseball (I started watching as an adult and have only become a serious fan in the past 10 years): I love the game and want to make it inviting and accessible to new fans. A few resources that might be helpful:
Baseball Rules For Beginners: This is a ~15 minute video with a solid run down for how the game is played.
Most of the baseball that occurs in UNWRITTEN RULES happens during Spring Training. Here's a great overview of Spring Training, including its purpose and its history, done by Ashley MacLennan (who is also a baseball romance novelist who writes under the name Sierra Dean). Her whole channel is worth watching and check out her books Sierra Dean.
Lastly, Wikipedia has a good glossary of terms as well.

Free Story Alert: An Occasional Victory
Free baseball short story for newsletter subscribers
"An Occasional Victory" is a short story about a pitcher who gives up home runs and a catcher who hits them off him. (Spoilers: they kiss.)
This story began as one of the character studies I wrote as part of writing UNWRITTEN RULES, though neither of the main characters from this story ended up appearing in the book. (Stephanie, the long-suffering team PR person, does.)
Content notes: Some mention of, and brief depictions of, homophobia; this does not involve the use of slurs. This story is for 18+ audiences.
