“I stop, feel Esther’s hand in mine, the weight of it, the tactile connection, the pathway through which we can both communicate without words, the give of accordance and the resistance of reluctance, sometimes one and sometimes both and sometimes neither, like the lead which spooled out between me and Archie, its twitches and vibrations telling us both when and where we were, when and where we are.”
Charlie Carroll, The Lip

“So why this need for friendship? Isn’t friendship itself a lie, a lie we tell ourselves to make our stupid, meaningless lives better?”
Charlie Carroll, The Lip
