A True Tribute ❤️

As someone whose life has often felt soundtracked by Angie Stone’s music, *Angie Stone Queen of Neo Soul: A Fan Tribute* by Carol Mitchell hit me straight in the heart. Reading it felt like sitting down with a fellow fan who understands just how profoundly Angie’s voice and lyrics can touch the soul.

The book is more than just a tribute—it’s a journey through Angie’s life and career, beautifully chronicling her evolution from her early days in The Sequence to her rise as a Neo Soul queen. What struck me most was how Carol Mitchell captured not just the artist, but the woman behind the music. It felt intimate, like flipping through a scrapbook lovingly curated by someone who truly gets what Angie’s artistry means to her fans.

I couldn’t help but pause while reading to revisit some of my favorite Angie songs. Tracks like "No More Rain" and "Brotha" suddenly carried even more weight as I connected them to the personal and professional milestones shared in the book. It’s a testament to Angie’s artistry that her music has this timeless ability to feel both deeply personal and universally relevant.

What makes this book stand out isn’t just the storytelling—it’s the heart. Carol Mitchell’s genuine admiration and love for Angie Stone are palpable on every page, and as a fan, it felt like my own feelings about Angie were being reflected back to me. If you’ve ever been moved by Angie Stone’s voice or found yourself lost in her lyrics, this book is a must-read. It’s a celebration of Angie’s legacy and a reminder of the transformative power of music.

This Story Will Definitely Stick With You!

What Happened to Kaylee, The Tears of a Child What Happened to Kaylee, The Tears of a Child by Carol Mitchell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have to say, *What Happened to Kaylee: Tears of a Child* left a deep impression on me. Carol Denise Mitchell doesn’t just write a crime story/murder mystery—she plunges you into the raw, heart-wrenching reality of a case that rocked a nation. The tragic story of Kaylee Mary Antonee is told with a kind of urgency and honesty that makes every page feel like you’re standing in that courtroom, feeling the outrage of a community that just couldn’t accept the verdict.

What really got to me was the way Mitchell blends fact with fiction to such a masterful degree. Sure, it's a fictional novel, but she pieces together the trial, mysterious secrets hidden behind the walls on Waterfall Drive, and the emotional turmoil surrounding the case until you can't help but feel that every detail is real. I found myself constantly guessing—was it really an accident, or was there something much darker at play? The book forces you to question and reflect on the nature of justice and the sometimes brutal reality of the truth.

I also appreciated the personal touch in Mitchell’s narrative. She doesn't hide behind cold, detached prose. Instead, she invites you in, asking you to see the world from the perspective of those desperately trying to understand Kaylee’s fate. You find yourself empathizing with everyone involved—the heartbroken parents, the scandalized jury, and yes, even the controversial figures that the media so loved to hate. It’s messy, it’s complicated, and it’s very human.

If you enjoy stories that leave you with more questions than answers, while still taking you on an intense emotional rollercoaster, then this book is a must-read. It's not just the high-stakes trial or the sensational secrets; it’s the way Mitchell dares you to look at the pieces of the story and imagine what might have been done to save little Kaylee. For me, that lingering thought is a testament to her skill as a storyteller.

At the end of the day, *What Happened to Kaylee* isn’t just a compelling work of fiction—it’s a reminder of how our perceptions of truth and justice can be both elusive and deeply personal. It definitely got under my skin and I suspect it might just do the same for you.
