Building Hope (Book 12 of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers) and other News about a friend's book

In July 2024, I released Building Courage, the 11th book in the SEAL Team Heartbreakers Series. Just before that, my editor, Faith Freewoman, had some life-changing health issues and had to retire from editing. She'd been with me for 12 years.  I was heartbroken because we're good friends. Luckily Delilah Devlin was able to step in and edit the book. Bless her.

At the same time, Faith was having issues; my cover artist and one of my best friends, Tracy Hacker, also had to retire due to health reasons. She'd been with me for 14 years.

I'm looking for a new cover artist for Building Hope, my next book. Please be patient. It may take me a while to find the right fit.

In the meantime, I'm posting the blurb  I don't have a release date yet, but dear readers, you'll be the first to know when I do.

Blurb for Building Hope (Book 12 of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers)

After a three-month deployment, Navy SEAL Frank Denotti walks off the transport plane eager to spend time with his girlfriend, Ava. While he's been away, they spoke daily, and those conversations have primed his hopes and plans for the weekend.

Ava fights her conscience every time she and Frank are together. She's kept a dangerous secret from him. She makes a bargain with herself. She'll tell him before their weekend together ends. But until then, she means to make the most of their time together. When they make love, she holds nothing back.

Their weekend is cut short, and when Frank drops Ava at her apartment, he's reluctant to leave her but has no choice. He offers to walk her to the door, but she tells him it's not necessary.
She enters her apartment and walks right into her past and the danger she's hoped to leave behind.

(This is a rough blurb and may be prone to change as the story evolves. But I wanted to share it with you.)

New Release from Jane Greenhill:

I wanted to give a shout-out for my dear friend Jane Greenhill.

Jane is my cheerleader. After my husband passed away, I couldn't write. She gave me pep talks and encouraged me to keep trying. She's funny, witty, and that comes through in her writing. I love her quirky characters and quick dialogue. I've read all her books.

Amazon /  Amazon Ca.    /Amazon UKHere's the blurb:

Elmville, a mischievous leprechaun, is desperate to retrieve his long-lost gold coin. Without it, the delicate balance between good and evil within him becomes skewed. But the elusive coin has fallen into the hands of the Tobin Family, and Elmville will stop at nothing to get it back. Through the centuries, he's relentlessly haunted the Tobin's descendants, leaving a wake of destruction and death in his path.

Meanwhile, Kitty and her mother, Annie, arrive in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, modern-day tourists with their own emotional baggage. Neither has a clue about the curse, nor do they believe in leprechauns.

After centuries of searching, Elmville's desperation has reached a fever pitch as he grows even closer to his ultimate goal. Dun Laoghaire is filled with Tobins.

Will Kitty, Annie and their newfound Tobin friends survive Elmville's wrath, or will his nefarious ways threaten to claim yet another victim?

Jane has two more Adult books in the works that I'm sure will be out soon.

She also has several young adult books available. They are hilarious.  I'm listing them below.

If you have young adults on your list,  they'd be perfect for Christmas gifts.

I'm working hard and hope to finish Building Hope as soon as possible. Life has thrown me quite a few curves in the last two years, but I'm working through them.

Building Courage (Book 11 of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers) is Released!

 Hello everyone!

Building Courage (Book 11 of the SEAL Team Hearbreakers) is Released!!  Building Courage is my 30th book!!! A wonderful Milestone and one I'm proud of.

I love the writing, I love all of my readers, and I love the challenge of making each book in this series the best I can make it.

I hope all of you will love it.

Here's the blurb:

Photographer Brynn Barrington spent two years on the road taking pictures, podcasting about survival, and embracing life to work through a personal trauma. She's taken on surfing and skydiving and now wants to learn to scuba dive.

But when she meets Tucker Giles she's wary. The handsome SEAL triggers desires she long ago buried deep and never thought to feel again.

Navy SEAL Tucker Giles has been a certified diver for years. After a dangerous encounter with a bull shark during a mission, he decides teaching Brynn to dive is just the ticket to shake off the lingering aftereffects. His instant attraction to Brynn is strong, and when he discovers what she's endured, he's determined to convince her to give romance another shot. With him.

Can Tucker help her find the courage to face her fears and learn to love?

I thought I'd give you a small excerpt from the book to pique your interest

Tucker brushed the backs of his fingers down her cheek to her chin in a caress. He bent his head, and his mouth took hers with a breath-stealing intensity.

Long suppressed emotions rushed through her, and she hummed beneath the pressure. A tormenting ache of need flared. She reached for him. Her hands slid up the length of his back, and she shifted against him, aligning her body with his.

Tucker cupped the back of her head, holding her mouth to his as his tongue slipped between her lips to tangle with hers. His arm encircled her, and his hand settled low on the small of her back to mold her against him. She felt the evidence of his desire. She wanted to open herself to that but...

When he drew back, her cheeks burned with her own runaway emotions and needs.

His voice was husky as he said, "I didn't want to deploy without knowing what it was like to kiss you."

    "Tucker..."

"I'm not asking for anything more, Brynn. There's no rush. I don't want to start something, then go wheels up. It wouldn't be fair to either of us."

He understood...She rested against him a moment and breathed in the clean smell of soap and an underlying scent of him, manly and pleasant.

"How about that desert?" he asked.

She took a half step back. Her voice was huskier than normal when she said. "I've already had mine."

    He laughed.

"I hope you like cheesecake," she rushed on.

    "It's my favorite."

"I'm glad I chose it then. It was either that or a double chocolate brownie that weighed possibly five pounds."

He laughed. "I'd have accepted that challenge."

"Me, too." Chocolate is my weakness."

    "We all have them."

    "What's yours?" she asked, curious.

"Long-legged ladies with sun-streaked hair and sherry-colored eyes. Why aren't you in front of the camera instead of behind it, Brynn?"

A sudden memory of cameras being shoved in her face made her mentally flinch. "I don't enjoy the limelight. I like to stand on the edge of the crowd and take everything in."

An Update on Building Courage

Hello Dear Readers!

I wanted to give all my readers a quick update and another short excerpt from Building Courage.

This book has been a long journey for me. My husband was bedfast for eight months. During that time, he required a lot of care. He passed in February 2023.  It took me nearly eight months to regain my writing rhythm, but I've found my feet.  I finished Building Courage May 1st,  and it is currently in my editor's hands.

I want to give Delilah Devlin, editor extraordinaire and fellow author, a shout-out for taking on the editing of the book. She's truly a wonder.

And I want to acknowledge Tracy Hacker my cover artist, who is an amazing graphic artist. She has done all my covers.

And Paul Salvette, who always does a fantastic job formatting my manuscripts so you can read them in print and ebook.

We authors don't work in a bubble, though sometimes it feels that way. None of us could produce a quality product without a team of experts helping us.

If all goes well, I hope to release the book mid to late June. Keep your fingers crossed Dear Readers.  Here's another unedited excerpt to tide you over until the book is out.

Denotti glanced up from texting on his phone as he slipped into a seat next to him.

"How are the scuba lessons going this week?" the big man asked.

Brynn seemed to be taking to scuba like a duck to water. "She's a natural. She swims like a fish, surfs and Kayaks."

    "Cool."

She videoed the trip to the dive shop and some of my instructions the first week. This week, we did a short dive at La Jolla cove, and she took some underwater photos with her camera. The next dive she'll use the rig she'll have to wear when she does the shoot in Australia."

    "Videoed?"

    "Yeah. She has a podcast."

"Denotti opened the phone again. "What's it called?"

    "Being Human."

He surfed the net, and the minute he came across Brynn's site, his brows shot up, and he grinned. "Whoa, Brother! If you're not going to tap that, I want her number."

Tucker resisted the urge to punch him and crossed his arms instead. If he put up a fuss, Knotty would be relentless in his pursuit. The guy had an unwavering sense of competition—unless he waved him off. A brother didn't trespass on another's girl. But he couldn't resist yanking Denotti's chain.

"Not giving it to you, Denotti."

    Denotti challenged, "Why not?"

"Trust me. I'm doing you a favor. She'd eat you for breakfast."

    "She's a ball buster?"

"Yeah. And worse. The only thing she's interested in is her career. Her camera goes everywhere with her. I bet she sleeps with it. If she doesn't have it, she's got her phone. She's laser-focused."

Denotti looked at her website photo. "She could laser-focus on me any time. And I don't mind a little camera action, in bed or out."

Tucker laughed. "She isn't learning to scuba for pleasure, Knotty. She's training to take underwater photos of the Great Barrier Reef and the aquatic life in Australia, for the magazine she works for.

Denotti scrolled through the photos on the site. "I don't know jack-shit about photography, but even I can see she's good. Actually, better than good, exceptional."

"Yeah. Photography seems to be her calling."

"Everybody has to have one," Denotti said with a shrug. "Like us."

    He was right.

"So, how far did you get with her?"

Tucker finally broke and laughed. "We had dinner together the first night after the scuba lesson. She had a shoot she had to get to after this week's dive, so I'm going to ask her over for dinner and a movie tonight."

"Asshole." Denotti punched his arm. "She's beautiful."

"Yeah, she is. And I don't know if she sleeps with her camera or not, but I'll let you know."

Denotti laughed. "Hold the pictures of yourself. I've already seen it all and I'm not interested."

I hope you enjoyed the excerpt.

I'll announce on my blog and my Facebook page when the book comes out!!!

I'm Still Here!!! And an excerpt from Building Courage

It's been a long time since I've posted anything. It's taken longer for me to fight my way back from a year of grief, upheaval, and injury, and it's still a work in progress, but I'm working my way back.  I'm 53,000 words into my next book, and I've finally hit my stride.

I'm posting a short excerpt of my next book Building Courage.  I've tweaked the blurb a tiny bit.

Here it is:

Photographer Brynn Barrington spent two years on the road. taking pictures, podcasting about survival, and working through the trauma of a brutal attack by embracing life. She's taken up surfing, sky diving, and now wants to learn to scuba dive.

But when she meets Tucker Giles, she's wary.

With him.

After her first open-water dive, Brynn commemorates the event by taking a photo of her and Tucker. When, out of the blue, her apartment's broken into, Brynn feels like she's living the nightmare all over again.

Or has her past come back to haunt her?

Here's an unedited excerpt from the book:

On his way to the hold, Tucker set to work laying in the explosives along the farthest bulkhead opposite the seam where the ship had been mortally wounded. Finding a buckled breach in the deck, he peeked downward into the space. Most of the catch had spilled out into the bay as the ship had tumbled to the bottom and settled on the ledge, but there were still piles of carcasses resting in stagnant heaps on the port side. Their decomposition filled the hold with a foggy stew of tissue that drew smaller fish. He thanked God he was spared the smell underwater. His dry suit would stink like death after this, and he didn't relish scrubbing it. If it could be salvaged at all.

Dropping down into the hold, he swam upward to what would be the starboard side of the ship and set to work laying the explosive devices in a straight line ten feet apart from one side of the hold to the other. As he set the fifth charge and swam forward to position the sixth, a pale gray shadow shot out of the haze. He had only a second to recognize it as a shark before it struck him. It was a hard glancing blow to his hip, a test to see if he was edible. The force of the blow spun him around. He hit his arm on a jagged piece of metal. The tough fabric of his dry suit protected his arm but didn't cushion the full-on blow of a huge shark butting him.

Heart racing, his breathing ragged, he jerked his dive knife free of his belt and held completely still, suspended by his buoyancy vest, just above the deck.

Fuck! With all the food shoved against one side of the hold, this fucker had decided he wanted fresh meat. Out of all the scenarios that had run through his mind, being trapped inside the hold with a shark hadn't been one of them. He tried to calm his breathing, but the surge of adrenaline kept his heart racing.

When the beast didn't appear again, he sheathed his knife. Every nerve in his body seemed to be on red alert as he hugged the deck and glanced over his shoulder every few seconds. Setting the last four devices seemed to take forever. With every muscle in his body tensed and ready for battle, he followed the dim blinking lights of the set charges back the way he'd come.  Pausing to get his bearings, he looked up and spied the edge of the opening through which he'd entered. He was almost home free.

He caught quick movement to his right. Like a gray shadow, the shark pierced the cloudy water and came straight at him, its powerful tail whipping back and forth like a sickle. Tucker jerked his dive knife free but realized it would be like trying to stop a torpedo with an icepick. Out of options, he pushed off the deck and swam upward, kicking for all he was worth.

I hope you enjoy the excerpt.

I'm working hard and hope to finish the book within the next month. I'll put it up for preorder as soon as I send it to my editor.

Thank you so much, dear fans, for sticking with me this last year. I've had so many setbacks, but I'm writing steadily now and finally feel like I'm truly back!!

And thanks to all my new readers who have signed up for my newsletter. I'll be sending out news soon.

Read on!

Writing Through

I thought I could write through anything. I used to turn to my writing to work through anger, frustration, and sadness. I wrote through disappointment, exhaustion, and loneliness. I wrote to remove myself from physical and emotional situations I couldn't escape. I had a very stressful job when I was first published, and my writing was my haven.

But I couldn't write through the grief, anxiety, and financial chaos that followed my husband's passing.

It's been a journey to get to the point where I can put my fingers on the computer keys and write a sentence. I had started a book in October before his passing. But at the time, his illness had progressed to the point he needed me 24 hours a day.

I never left the house without my daughter or mother being there. And if I did, it was while he was asleep to go to the grocery store before he ever woke for the day.

I'm now trying to return to my past schedule of writing. But it's still difficult to sustain the schedule I set for myself before. I'm building up to it gradually.

Just in the last week, I opened my document and felt that special rush of excitement. (I'd tried several times before and just felt dull and emotionally distant.) But this week, I read over the 20,000 words I'd written and decided to love my characters. Which is a big thing for a writer. You don't want to write about people you can't like or root for.  You can't relate to them if they aren't close to you. So I discovered my characters again and decided I wanted to tell their story.  So I'm making headway, but sadly not at the pace I once did.

But I'm working! And I really need that. It gives me purpose. But it also helps me escape some of the same things it has in the past.

I wanted to share the cover of my next book and the blurb.  When I'm further along and back into the steady rhythm of things again, I'll set up a preorder for the book.

New Release for Cynthia D'Alba Six Days and One Knight

Christmas is right around the corner and it's shopping season. I love to get books for Christmas because I'm as avid a reader as I am a writer.
My good friend Cynthia D'Alba has a new release coming out December 6th!!! I wanted to encourage everyone to check it out!

Six Days and One Knight by Cynthia D'Alba

Being the younger sister of a beautiful, popular, and smart woman makes following behind her in life a tough existence…especially when you’ve always been in love with her childhood boyfriend.

The books available on All Platforms

https://books2read.com/SixDaysOneKnight

Being the younger sister of a beautiful, popular, and smart woman makes following behind her in life a tough existence…especially when you’ve always been in love with her childhood boyfriend.

As her sister’s maid of honor, Brianna Treadway can’t wait to help with the wedding planning. The problem is her sister wants to do the wedding planning during a couples snow ski trip for six days, and Brianna isn’t part of a couple. Her sister spontaneously invites one of Brianna’s co-workers to come along as Brianna’s date, a man who was once her sister’s high school boyfriend. Convinced her co-worker’s love interest is her sister and not Brianna, and believing he is going on the trip to come between her sister and her fiancé, Brianna agrees to go to keep him away from her sister. But how can she stop wanting him for herself?

At thirty-five, Brody Knight is tired of the dating scene. He’s ready to settle down and knows exactly who he wants to spend his life with. The problem is the woman he wants doesn’t want him, unless he’s misinterpreting her actions. When an old childhood friend invites him on a snow ski trip as a date for her younger sister, Brody jumps at the chance. The trip gives him six days to impress the woman who keeps turning him down.

When Brianna confesses that she’s only going on this trip to keep Brody from breaking up her sister and fiancé, how can he convince her that she’s the one he wants, not her sister? When Brianna sees something not meant for her eyes, how can she believe anything else but that Brody wants her sister and not Brianna?

Cynthia and I have known each other for a long time. We met at a conference in Nashville Tennesee and hit it off. When she asked me if I wanted to take part in writing the SEALs In Paradise series I jumped at the chance. I love being a part of the whole experience. Hot SEAL, Open Arms is OUT!!!

Hot SEAL, Open Arms is released. And I'm so thrilled to have it out.

I've set this book in Texas and I really enjoyed writing it. I love writing about different locations and giving my characters different careers. I love the challenge of writing the circumstances that they'll face in their daily lives and spicing things up by throwing roadblocks in their way in their work and their personal relationships.

 Here's an excerpt:

Wyatt slipped off the desk and caught her arm. “Hey, take a breath for a minute.” It came natural as breathing for him to cup her cheek with his left hand. He couldn’t feel the warmth of her skin, or the texture as his palm rested there and he regretted bitterly that the first time he touched her he couldn’t feel her skin.

Her gaze locked with his. Her pupils dilated, leaving only a narrow rim of light blue. She moistened her lips with the tip of her tongue. A wild, pulse-pounding desire to snuff out that regret by bringing her in close and feeling how her body fit against his reared up. He wanted to taste her lips, her skin.

It had been over a year since he’d held a woman. Just as long since he’d been intimate with one. And at the moment he was very aware of both.

He brought his right hand up to cup her other cheek. Her skin was warm, and she smelled of hay, and, underneath that, a more feminine scent. Her fingers curled over his wrist, but she didn’t pull away.

A knock came at the door, and he reluctantly dropped his hands and took a step back. “Come in.”

Gerald poked his head in the door. “Your dad’s foreman called and said they’ll transport the calf tomorrow before three.”

“Okay.”

Gerald looked back and forth between them before he shut the door.

Wyatt searched for something to say and managed, “What did you suggest to Katie’s mother?”

“That she ask the principal to view camera footage from the hallway where he shoved, Katie to prove it was on purpose.”

“That’s a good plan. And let’s hope Mom follows through with it. And as much as you want to do something to help, you can’t overstep the professional boundaries. They might pull Katie from your program. And that would devastate her and upset you.

“Yes, it would. I need to get off to a good start with this.” Kinley leaned back against the desk and stared at the wooden floor.

“In SEAL training, you learn to distance yourself from the human elements of a mission, so you can see things dispassionately and maintain your focus. I’m not saying you need to go that far, but you need to protect yourself, Kinley, and your business. You’re Katie’s confident and her support, but at the end of the day, it’s up to her parents to protect her.”

“You’re right.”

They were both subdued. And after that moment of intense need, Wyatt searched for a way to come back to it in some way. “You’re brave to take this on. It’s not easy, but you’ll find your way.”

She looked up. “Is that what you’re doing, Wyatt? Finding your way?”

“Yeah, pretty much. It’s taken me eight months to get this far, and it’s been a year since my surgery.” Eight months since his teammates left the country without him. He’d grieved and raged against the injustice of it, but in the end, he had to accept it.

She looked up. “I can only guess how hard it’s been.”

She had too much empathy for her own good. And he certainly didn’t want her pity. “You stepped into your grandparents’ footsteps and took on this place and added to it. That couldn’t have been easy.”

“But I didn’t have to start from scratch.”

Maybe he didn’t have to either. He just needed to take things slow, and make certain she wanted the same thing he did. She was already taking him into her confidence. He suddenly experienced a rush of anticipation similar to when he stood at the door of an aircraft preparing to leap out. “What do you do when you’re not working, Kinley?”

“Sleep.”

They both laughed. “I’m going to bring my drone to work tomorrow, and after we lock up, I’ll show you how to fly it?”

She cocked her head to the side as she studied him. “Why would you do that?”

“Because I think you’d enjoy doing something new, something you haven’t tried before. Something fun.” Something not related to horses and the business.

“I think I’d like that, too.” She straightened from leaning against the desk. “I’d better go.”

He allowed himself to study her trim waist and hips and the tight, spiraled curl of her ponytail that fell mid-back as she walked to the door.

She looked back over her shoulder, “Thanks for letting me vent.”

“Any time.”

When she flashed him a smile at the door, he felt the weight of it arrow right to his groin. If he was reading things wrong, it would be embarrassing as hell, but he didn’t think he was.

Hot SEAL, Open arms is the fifth book I've written for the SEALS In Paradise series and I've loved writing every one of them. This one may be one of my favorites though.
If you're interested in the other books in the series you can go to our Paradise Authors page on Amazon to check out all the releases in the series.
Or go to my website at https://www.teresareasor.com    to check out my 5 books in the series.

My good friend Abigail Keam has a book coming out November 14th.  Murder Under a Bridal Moon is the 10th book in her Mona Moon series.  I've read all the others.

Amazon / B & N / Apple / Kobo / Google

Mona Moon is planning her wedding to Robert Farley, Duke of Brynelleth, when her preparations go haywire after one of her maids is found murdered. With just days before the blessed event, unwanted guests invade Moon Manor throwing a wrench into Mona’s plans and making it more difficult to seek the truth. Now Robert is a suspect in the maid’s murder. A missing gold brooch and twenty five-dollar bills are the only clues Mona has to find the murderer. She must clear Robert from suspicion or he will call off the wedding, saying he refuses to taint Mona’s good name. Can she discover the killer before the wedding, or will the murderer witness the breakup between Mona and Robert? Was that the intention all along?
We readers have been waiting for these two love birds to tie the knot so I hope this murder doesn’t put an end to their romance.
Abigail not telling so I’ll have to read the book.

I've already started my next SEAL Team Heartbreaker book. Building Courage will be the 11th full-length book in the SEAL Team Heartbreaker series. Elijah Ashe aka Book's situation will be explored more and there will be a few more details about his accident introduced in this book.  Tucker Giles the Dive Master of the team will be facing his own trials in this book and meeting someone special. But it wouldn't be one of my books if things went smoothly for my guys or the women they're attracted to. So there will be plenty of romance and suspense to challenge all the characters.  Building Courage will be out March of 2023.  Sooner if I can make it happen.
Thanks to all of you for subscribing to my blog.

Hot SEAL, Open Arms is Finished and due to release October 25th!!

Fall is here! And I've finished Hot SEAL, Open Arms.  It has been a journey. Family illness has really made things a struggle since I'm the only caregiver available. Writing the book has been my escape from those difficulties. But it's done and I'm thrilled with it.

AMAZON / NOOK / APPLE / KOBO / SMASHWORDS

Navy SEAL Wyatt Taylor is facing the hardest decision of his life—what the hell to do now he can no longer be a SEAL. Besides his bum arm, he also has a bad attitude, because in his opinion nothing he’ll ever do again will live up to his life as a SEAL. But now his savings are dwindling and his team has deployed without him, he knows he has to move on.
Kinley Green is living her dream.  She’s worked with horses for years, training them, caring for them, and riding them. And now with a grant in hand, she’s finally able to put her horses and her expertise with disabled children to use on a working ranch.
When Wyatt Taylor walks in with his killer smile asking for a job, she sees trouble… But he knows horses and has intimate knowledge of what disability is all about.  And she does need the help. But when trouble strikes, threatening her business, her horses and her life… Will he prove to be the right man for the job?
And here's an excerpt!!
The Chinook motor’s high metallic whine chanted in unison with the staccato sound of blades cutting through the air above them.
Wyatt’s attention moved restlessly about the fuselage as voices traveled above the hum. Wilder and Needles had a back-and-forth going. He couldn’t hear the details, but based on Wilder’s expression, Javier was living up to his nickname and needling him about something.
Thor was strapped into one of the seats, arms crossed, legs braced, taking a fifteen-minute power nap. The guy was unshakable and oblivious to the noise.
Stefan’s Brooklyn-accented voice cut into Wilder and Javier’s conversation as he joined them.
Bishop and Hogan seemed to be lost in their own thoughts while they waited.
The two SEALs who’d been tacked onto their team, Staples and Norman, sat together. The two earned their tridents six months before and were as yet untested in combat. Why on earth the head shed decided a rescue mission would be a good way for the two to bust their cherries made no sense. But to question that decision was way above Wyatt’s pay grade.
“Ten minutes until the drop site,” the pilot’s voice came over the com system.
Wyatt withdrew the photo from one of his vest pockets and took a final look at the picture of the couple. He looked like an average guy, clean cut, early forties, doctor. She was a nurse and a looker. Dark hair, even features, pretty. He hoped that hadn’t worked against her.
These people had to have balls of steel to travel to one of the most volatile countries in Niger on a humanitarian mission. The armed gangs and terrorists who ruled the country took hostages all the time…as Drew and Nancy Monahan recently learned the hard way. And now the team was going in to recover them. Hopefully in one piece.
The pilot’s voice came over the com system. “Drop site in five.”
Wyatt tucked the picture back in place.
Senior Chief Ramon’s voice came through his com. “Fall in. Keep your spacing. You don’t want to crowd the guy beside you.” He’d be the one to call them off at the top of the ropes as they rappelled forty feet to the bottom on separate, side-by-side lines.
Wyatt put on his tactical gloves and fell in line. Senior Chief yelled out “Go.” Team Leader Stefan Kowalski and Thor hit the rope first. Ty and Mason went next, then Javier and Wilder. Banger stepped off with Norton the newbie, leaving Wyatt paired with Staples.
At Senior Chief’s yell, Wyatt grabbed the line, pushed off, dropped beneath the Chinook, and started down. Even with his tactical gloves the friction of the rope heated his palms. He was aware of Staples’ movements just above and to the left of him just before he left him behind.
Fifteen feet from the bottom, a disturbance of the air, a flash, a shadow bearing down on him on the left had him gripping the line hard. A body traveling at momentum struck his shoulder. The pain was sharp and deep, but he barely had a second to give voice to it before being ripped off the line.
The hard-packed desert rose up to meet him. He landed hard atop a body, his arm beneath him and yelped in pain as his elbow popped.
Sand whipped around him from the propellers of the Chinook blowing the particles into his face. Wyatt rolled off the man beneath him and cried out again when his arm flopped. He cradled it with his right hand to hold it in place and keep it stable.
“Easy, Rodeo. Just lie still.” Kowalski hit his com button. “Staples fell and dragged Taylor off the line. We have two injured men and we need evac for both.”
The Chinook banked and moved away.
Wyatt clenched his eyes shut and fought back a wave of nausea and the need to cry out with pain while Ty unbuckled the straps on his pack and slipped them off over his shoulders. At least having the weight of the pack off eased the pain and nausea—as long as he didn’t move.
“Rodeo, I need you to answer some questions for me,” Javier’s voice dragged Wyatt’s eyes open. The man was one of the best medics the team ever had.
“Did you hit your head or hurt your neck?” he asked while he was running his fingers down Wyatt’s neck.
“No, but my arm feels like it’s been ripped off.”
Javier ran careful hands over his shoulder and elbow while Wyatt gritted his teeth against the agony of even that careful pressure.
“Your shoulder and elbow are dislocated, Rodeo, and I can’t put them back in. It might cause more damage.”
Javier was soft-pedaling it. Wyatt’s arm felt like it wasn’t even part of his body.
“I’m going to give you a shot of morphine to take the edge off.”
Thank God. Gritting his teeth against the pain wasn’t cutting it.
He barely felt the needle go into his arm. The meds hit his system, the agony eased, and he was able to turn his thoughts to something else. “Is Staples okay?”
“You slowed his fall, but he’s broken his leg and he probably has a concussion.”
“Better that than dying.” Had the damn FNG fallen from thirty feet he’d never have survived. The sand in this dry African desert was packed like concrete.
“We’re going to load you back on the Chinook and they’re going to take you back to base for medical treatment. You’re going to be okay.”
“Fuck! What about the mission?” The Team would be going into the rescue two men short.
“It’ll be okay, Rodeo,” Mason said. “We got this.”
He held onto that thought for the next five minutes while Javier stabilized his arm by wrapping it tight against his body. Ty and Thor put a splint on Staples’ leg.
Ty got on the radio. The Chinook circled back and lowered a transport basket.
Strapped into the basket Wyatt let the morphine lull him. Ty gave his good shoulder a squeeze and yelled into his ear above the thunder of the chopper. “We’ll see you when we get back to base, Rodeo.”
“Watch your six,” Wyatt said.
The world spun as the basket rose to meet the open side door of the chopper. Wyatt closed his eyes, the movement making him nauseous. The flight crew wrestled the basket inside and secured it to the bulkhead.
They lowered the next basket for Staples. Three minutes to load them, then the Chinook turned south back to base.
From beside him, Staples’ voice came to him. “I’m sorry, sir.”
“We’re both going to come back from this, Staples.” It was just a dislocated shoulder and elbow. He’d recover from these injures and be back with his team in a few months.
I hope you enjoyed the excerpt!
And thanks for reading.
Remember Hot SEAL, Open Arms will be out October 25th!!

Gorman, Andi Jaxon, Jami Denise, Carson Mackenzie, Kallypso Masters, M. Leigh Morhaime, Jessie Lane, Brooke Summers & Stella Bella, Summer Winters, Brandy Munroe, Christine Donovan, Tracy Broemmer, Morgan James, Melissa Filla and Jaime Russell, Shannon O'Connor, AJ Alexander, E.L.Johnson, Jay Leigh Brown, D.M. Earl, Renea Porter, E.S. McMillan, Tiffany Carby, KD Michaels, Jennie L. Morris, H.C. Bentley, Melody Ash, Samantha Baca, Bella Lane, Anna Brooks, Sunny Mawson.

A permanent heat wave has engulfed Kentucky.  I have sweated buckets since it hit. I'm thinking of

Letting a man flirt with her at a bar is a huge boost to her ego, but what if the wants more?

Elaina's been raising her son alone for ten years. She's cautious about dating and even more cautious about introducing someone to her son.

Ty has earned the nickname Flirt with the SEAL team. He can woo any woman easily, especially

on karaoke night. Which works out perfectly when he spots the brown-eyed girl sitting at the bar.

Their lives are too complicated. She's ten years older than him. She can't have more kids. She also can't seem to stay away from him.

Ty is the whole package.  He's an amazing brother, uncle, and boyfriend. It doesn't hurt that he also rocks her world in the bedroom. He's impossible to deny.

I've passed the twenty-five thousand-word mark with Hot SEAL, Open Arms and I'm making steady progress. I never know how long my books will be until I write The End but this one feels like a fifty-thousand-word book at least. I plan to have it finished by the end of this month so I can send it on to my editor.  Hot SEAL, Open Arms is available for preorder. See the links below.
