New Short Story 'Zombies' In The November Playboy
Chuck has a new short story called 'Zombies' in the November 2013 issue of Playboy magazine.
If you're a confident looking non-pervert, head to your local newstand to pick up a copy today.
Here's what Chuck had to say about the story:
"The story was originally published in Playboy, the only major glossy magazine that will risk buying my fiction. When my editor there, Amy Grace Lloyd, wanted to run it the entire staff insisted that [Hugh Hefner] approve it personally. Yes, it's risky, but Hef said it was okay. To date, it's the only story I've written that's made an audience weep instead of vomit. This past spring I read it at a sold-out event in a bar, and hundreds of the hippest, most-jaded readers could be heard sniffing back tears. Anytime my work can coax bodily fluids out of someone, I'm happy."
You can purchase the issue online at Playboy.com.
And you can watch him read the full story during his Doomed tour here.

What We Know About The RANT Sequel
While Chuck already has his next two books lined up; Beautiful You in 2014 and Make Something Up, a book of short stories scheduled for 2015, a question he still gets asked regularly is, when the hell is he going to finally write the long anticipated sequel to Rant? See, some of you may not know this, but Rant was originally promised and conceived as a trilogy-- same as Damned. But whereas, two years later we have that sequel to Damned, six years later we still long for the further adventures of Buster Casey.
Recently, Chuck has began speaking openly about the Rant sequel and, lo and behold, plans are afoot! During his latest Reddit AMA (read the whole transcript here), when asked about the Rant sequel, Chuck dropped this exciting news:
"Argh! The Rant question comes back! I've written the second book, but I'm such a compulsive nut-job that I'm still looking for a non-fiction form to use as a structure. I know, I know, I'm stuck on structural gimmicks, but experiments like that are important to me."

So today, we're officially going to request that all of you update this news thread (in the comments below) any time you see or hear any further news about this sequel. I doubt this AMA is the first time Chuck has given information about it. So let's start trying to piece together the mystery of what this book will be. And shit, maybe we can start a poll to let Chuck know just how badly we want this book (Rant is my personal favorite of all his novels) and I'll email him the results once it's convincing enough. Deal? Deal.
Gonzo Erotica: Chuck Palahniuk’s Hustler Magazine Interview
Yep, first Playboy this month, now Hustler. Chuck gets around. Check out this amazing feature interview conducted by Kyle Downing (@dowling_kyle). Chuck discusses his 2014 novel Beautiful You, talks at length about the upcoming Fight Club graphic novel sequel, and even takes time out to juggle a giant dildo in an adult store (and there's a picture to prove it).
Here's a taste:
"I never set out to offend. Each book or story is an experiment in dread that begins with the question, "What's the worst that can happen?" Once I have the disaster clearly in my mind, my task is to resolve it."

'Zombie': A New Original Short Story by Chuck Palahniuk
It's pretty common at this point to find Chuck selecting Playboy as the outlet for his newest short stories. They're really one of the only outlets with the balls to print what he's writing. And god bless them for it. What's not common is for Playboy to then make the story available online. So drop everything you're doing right now and go read Chuck's latest short story ZOMBIE:

Fight Club Sequel's Plot Revealed
If you were lucky enough to be at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, you might have been present when Chuck dropped a bomb and announced he was working on a graphic novel sequel to Fight Club. The story broke all over the web and was picked up by everyone from Rolling Stone to USA Today to The Hollywood Reporter. Since then, it seems everyone wants to know as much as they can about this project and Chuck has been extremely open about his progress.
In a recent interview with Hustler magazine, Chuck talked more extensively about the actual plot of the Fight Club sequel:
The sequel will be told from the-- at first-- submerged perspective of Tyler Durden as he observes the day-to-day tedium of the narrator's life. Because 20th Century-Fox created the convention of calling the protagonist Jack, I'm calling him Cornelius. He's living a compromised life with a failing marriage, unsure about his passion for his wife. The typical midlife bullshit. Likewise, Marla is unsatisfied and dreams of accessing the wild man she'd once fallen in love with. She tampers with the small pharmacy of drugs that her husband needs to suppress Tyler, and-- go figure-- Tyler reemerges to terrorize their lives."

Read Chuck's Introduction To 'Burnt Tongues: Stories'
While Chuck's next novel Beautiful You won't be released until October of this year, a couple months earlier another project he's been heavily involved with-- a passion project, if you were-- will become available. Burnt Tongues: Stories is an anthology of transgressive fiction written by... well... you. The fans. Constructed over many years, these stories were a part of Chuck's online writers workshop. While the workshop shut its doors a few years back, for a long time it thrived on this website, with Chuck reading and critiquing the best works each month. He'd then provide craft essays and homework assignments for up and coming writers so that they could be improved. By the end of the entire process, Chuck painstakingly whittled this list of hundreds of submitted stories over the years, down to the 20 best. And those 20 best comprise Burnt Tongues: Stories, an anthology co-edited by Chuck, Richard Thomas, and myself.
You can pre-order this amazing collection right now, if you like.
But if you're looking for a teaser first, the wonderful folks at Medallion Press have decided to let us make Chuck's wonderful introduction to the anthology available online, for free. It might sound hyperbolic to say this, but I count this introduction as one of the finest and most moving things Chuck has ever written.
