Reading in Isolation
The virus lockdown has my husband and myself holed up in our house. Every now and then, I have the desire to escape and go somewhere else. Jumping in the car and driving isn’t an option. Movies or books are my opportunity to escape.
As for myself, I want mindless entertainment. This is not a time I want a book on philosophy or theology. While I do enjoy an occasional horror tale, I’ll pass on anything that has to do with contagion or biological warfare. So, what I am reading?
I’ve picked up some biographies from Star Trek actors since I’m a big fan. Even picked up a few Star Trek novels, which can be hit or miss. Some stories are great such Desperate Hours by David Mack, which is full of action and kept to the ST canon having characters act like they would on television.
Another winner I picked up was Dodging Energy Vampires: An Empath’s Guide to Evading Relationships That Drain You and Restoring Your Health and Power by Dr. Christiane Northrup. Even though it doesn’t sound like a page turner, it was informative and an easy to read.
I also picked up a book called a Soulmate for Christmas Anthology, in which a friend had a story. It was a fun read probably because I knew the author. I picked up a couple of Great Big Crosswords from Amazon, which are printed in England. I mention this because sometimes the right word is a British expression, I don’t get no matter how many English comedies I stream. That’s it for me I’m curious what books other people or reading. What are you reading now?
