Here's the gist:
From the critically-acclaimed author of Chloe Doe, Burn (Little, Brown) and Lindsey Lost (Viking) comes the adult thriller AFTER DEAD.
Saul Doss, a psychologist at a local hospital, possess a talent that allows him inside the minds of his patients. Once there, he is able to erase the events that led to breakdown. What he didn't expect to encounter, or to release into the world, was the mind of a serial killer.
Natalie Forrester was 8 years old when her brother, Steven, became the King's Ferry Killer's second victim. She witnessed the murder and returns to Vancouver Island 16 years later in an attempt to recover her memory and put her brother to rest. Natalie sees the dying before it happens.
Isaac Marquette is 12 years old and possess a supernatural gift that defies physics--he transitions from real time and place to attend the dying. Issac is a dead-ringer for his uncle Lance, the KFK's first victim, and as he moves deeper into his gift, encourntering the killer along the way, he realizes that he has, perhaps, too much in common with the victims.
Graham Marquette is chief of police of the small coastal town of King's Ferry, but his need to apprehend the killer is far more personal than professional. A man who has already lost much, he is driven by the need to protect that which is most dear to him.
Together, they are the before, the during and the after dead.
Past praise from Publisher's Weekly and The Kirkus Review--
Phillips' writes "in precise, excruciating details. . ." Her writing is "thought-provoking and incisive" and has "staying power." PW
Phillips' writing is "chillingly real" and "horrifies and disturbs." KR
