A man in a latex dog mask is kidnapping girls that resemble his mother and turning them into cats. How? Veritas: A Paranormal Thriller

Special Agent Pilar LaPorte goes to Mandan, North Dakota to investigate the Mark of the Beast Murders: two victims—one burned alive, the other with his face slashed open—both marked with 666. Teaming up with her is Father Adam Harris, a local priest who is part of a group called Veritas (Latin for "truth"), which investigates miracles, stigmata, and demon possession. Pilar suspects a local Mormon Bishop is responsible for the murders, but Adam believes it may be something more powerful: a demon, or possibly, God.

During the pandemic, I disappeared from the internet and pulled all my books from Amazon, because I didn’t feel like they were written well enough (and honestly, I’m ashamed at how bad some of them are). Then in 2021, I went to Uganda to help build a clinic for Sudanese refugees. Unfortunately, I’m a writer, not a brick-layer, so I wasn’t much help, and as if I couldn’t be any more of a useless muzungu (white person) in a foreign land, I then contracted the dreaded COVID and had to quarantine for a week. Now I find myself in Japan, teaching English to kindergarten kids. The summers here are brutal and our school has no A/C. The kids cry: “Atsui! Atsui!” (HOT HOT!) as I dance around in a suit and tie and point at flashcards, saying, “This is an apple!” Sweat dripping into my eyes and down my neck, brain cooking inside my cranium. It’s not ideal, but the kids are mostly great. Even that kid who pissed his pants in the middle of the classroom.

During my days off I’ve been rewriting my back catalogue, slowly, but surely.
