Revised version of ‘China’s Socialist Rule of Law’ posted
As part of my research on the practice of socialist democracy in China, I have revised my earlier text on ‘China’s Socialist Rule of Law’. Quite a bit of research on this topic, since there has been a good deal of development on rule of law in China. You can find the new version on … Continue reading Revised version of ‘China’s Socialist Rule of Law’ posted

Text added on socialist consultative democracy
A major component of China’s socialist democratic system is consultative democracy. It has a history that goes back to the ‘mass line’ during the revolutionary struggle for liberation, but has now risen to a whole new level. On the Chinese Marxism page (here), I have added a text from the CPC Central Committee, entitled ‘Opinions … Continue reading Text added on socialist consultative democracy

New document added on socialist democracy in China
On the Chinese Marxism page is a document from the State Information Office. Published in 2005, it is called ‘Building Political Democracy in China’. Up to that point, it was the most comprehensive explanation of the gradual construction of socialist democracy in light of China’s history and conditions. It covers electoral democracy (People’s Congresses), multi-party … Continue reading New document added on socialist democracy in China

Deng Xiaoping on mass movements
On the website of the Newcastle branch of the Communist Party of Australia (of which I am a member), there is a new post concerning Deng Xiaoping’s insights – from 1943 – into the relations between the Communist Party and mass movements. Well worth a read. The post can be found here.

Grassroots Consultative Socialist Democracy (case studies)
In my research for the chapter on ‘Governance, Democracy, and Rule of Law’, I came across an excellent article that provides case studies of grassroots consultative democracy in China. The file with translation of the case studies has been added to the Chinese Marxism page (here). Well worth a read if you want to know … Continue reading Grassroots Consultative Socialist Democracy (case studies)

At the centre of the global stage: Xi Jinping’s speech at the opening of the World Health Assembly
We are living in extraordinary times. As the last Western colonising power removes itself from any realistic global leadership (apart from dummy-spitting petulance), for the first time in centuries an Eastern power has taken centre stage. To be sure, the gaggle of former colonisers known as the West are still in a state of stunned Continue reading At the centre of the global stage: Xi Jinpings speech at the opening of the World Health Assembly

Why would anyone want to be an attack-dog for a delusional rogue state?
From lap-dog to attack-dog that seems to be the Australian regimes unfortunate role in the world today. I spend little time in Australia and do not pay any attention to developments in the country, unless an item comes up in one of the Chinese or Russian news sources on which I rely (in fact, Continue reading Why would anyone want to be an attack-dog for a delusional rogue state?
