The Pachamama Alliance

Categories: Jack's Blog

[image error]Many people ask me, especially during this time of year, about the charities that I personally donate to and how they too can give back to others in some way.  One way in which I give back, is giving to a charity called The Pachamama Alliance.  This organization empowers indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture, and educates and inspires individuals everywhere to bring forth a thriving, sustainable world.  I have personally visited Ecuador with the Pachamama Alliance multiple times, and the work they are doing is profound, and extremely important in this day and age.

The work is so vital because whatever we are doing in our lives, and whatever dreams we are working on… we all need air to breathe and water to drink.  Rainforests are the Earth’s way of providing us that air and water, for free, and the Amazon rainforest is the biggest one on the planet.

Right now, Ecuador’s government is moving forward with plans for new oil development that threatens the Achuar people of Ecuador, the Amazon rainforest, and the power both have to sustain life for us all.

This is an urgent situation that affects all of us.  Please read more about it and consider donating, even a small amount if you can, to give back this holiday season.

Your donation of $25, $50, or $75 to The Pachamama Alliance is an investment in indigenous leadership and a world where we never lose sight of what makes the precious gift of life possible. For more information or to donate, please click here: http://www.pachamama.org/3/protect-ecuadors-amazon-rainforest

[copy] Taking 100% Responsibility for Your Life

Categories: Jack's Blog

[image error]If you want to be successful, you have to take 100% responsibility for everything that you experience in your life. This includes the level of your achievements, the results you produce, the quality of your relationships, the state of your health and physical fitness, your income, your debts, your feelings—everything! This is not easy.

In fact, most of us have been conditioned to blame something outside of ourselves for the parts of our life we don’t like. We blame our parents, our bosses, our friends, our co-workers, our clients, our spouse, the weather, the economy, our astrological chart, our lack of money—anyone or anything we can pin the blame on. We never want to look at where the real problem is—ourselves.

If you want to create the life of your dreams, then you are going to have to take 100% responsibility for your life as well. That means giving up all your excuses, all your victim stories, all the reason why you can’t and why you haven’t up until now, and all your blaming of outside circumstances. You have to give them all up forever.

You have to take the position that you have always had the power to make it different, to get it right, to produce the desired result. For whatever reason—ignorance, lack of awareness, fear, needing to be right, the need to feel save—you chose not to exercise that power. Who knows why? It doesn’t matter. The past is the past. All that matters now is that from this point forward you choose—that’s right, it’s a choice—you chose to act as if (that’s all that’s required—to act as if) you are 100% responsible for everything that does or doesn’t happen to you.

If something doesn’t turn out as planned, you will ask yourself, “How did I create that? What was I thinking? What were my beliefs? What did I say or not say? What did I do or not do to create that result? How did I get the other person to act that way? What do I need to do differently next time to get the result I want?”

Here’s an exercise I described in my FREE monthly "Ask Jack Canfield" teleseminar that can help you do that. Answer each question as honestly as you can. It’s even more powerful if you have another person ask you the questions and hold witness for your answers.

1. What is a difficult or troubling situation in your life?
2. How are you creating it or allowing it to happen?
3. What are you pretending not to know?
4. What is the payoff for keeping it like it is?
5. What would you rather be experiencing?
6. What actions will you take to create that?
7. By when will you take that action?

The Best Legacy You Can Leave

Categories:

A reporter once asked me what I thought my greatest accomplishment was. I think she was surprised about my answer because...[image error]

I didn’t mention the 60+ best-selling books I’ve written.

I didn’t mention traveling the world to deliver speeches and seminars or having a weekly newspaper column read by millions of people each week... or working with celebrities, members of Congress, athletes and America’s top corporations.

For me, the greatest contribution you can make to the world is to grow in self-awareness, self-realization, and the power to manifest your own heartfelt dreams and desires. (What those dreams and desires are, well, that’s really irrelevant.)

The second greatest thing you can do is to help others do the same.

That's why I hope you’ll join me Wednesday for this week's "Ask Jack Canfield" free tele-training...

Creating “Miracles” with the Rule of Five

Categories: Jack's Blog

Creating MiraclesApplying focused attention to seemingly “impossible” goals or dreams can lead to what some people call “miracles.” It certainly seemed to for Andrea Fisher after a terrible automobile accident left her comatose and without the use of her arms and legs.

When Andrea woke from the coma three months later, her husband immediately asked for a divorce. Andrea had been a happy and successful television producer, and now her life was turned upside down. Every neurologist consulted said she was quadriplegic and never going to get any better.

As soon as she understood the reality of her situation, Andrea set a monumental goal—to walk out of the hospital on her own some day.

Within a year Andrea was off the respirator. Within three years she stood up next to her bed. And within seven years she did in fact walk out of that hospital on her own.

How?

Every day Andrea focused on her goal and took specific action steps toward achieving it. She delved into the paperwork and preparations required to allow her a diet of holistic foods in the hospital.

She got regular massages and chiropractic adjustments. Even though she could not feel anything from the neck down, she knew they would be good for her body.

Each day Andrea spent time in prayer and meditation. She expressed gratitude for each breath she took, every beat of her heart, the good things in her life, and the possibilities for her future.

She went to work releasing her feelings of depression, anger, fear, frustration, and other self-defeating emotions that would arise. She also visualized daily, imagining herself working out, lifting weights, walking, riding bike, and all of the other physical activities she loved to do.

When she stood for the first time, Andrea surprised every medical doctor and neurologist. Later in her life she spoke at neurological conferences, and specialists around the world studied her case. They concluded that her walking again was a miracle, because there was nothing that could account for it.

But to Andrea it was no more a miracle than the fact that she could breathe or her heart could beat. She insisted she could explain every single detail of what she did to accomplish her breakthrough.

Imagine what you could do if you applied the same kind of focused attention to your personal goals. Maybe your goal won’t take seven years to accomplish as Andrea’s did; it might take seven months—or just seven weeks.

In my book The Success Principles, I refer to this daily focus as the Rule of Five. In it, I suggest making a list each day of five action steps that will move you closer to your goal. Then check them off as you complete each one.

Be very specific in your actions. If your breakthrough goal is to achieve your ideal weight, one day might look like this:

My five action steps today:

Do morning stretches for 10 minutes.
Walk for 30 minutes.
Prepare a healthy lunch with plenty of green vegetables.
Go grocery shopping right after lunch so that I don’t shop when I am hungry.
Spend 15 minutes visualizing how I will look and feel when I achieve my goal or reading my affirmations.

The cumulative effect of these daily steps can be profound. Small action steps are manageable, and achieving them daily keeps you motivated and your momentum strong.

Whether your goal is to drop 20 pounds, run a marathon, start a business, or write a book, apply the Rule of Five each day and see what “miracles” you create in your life.

Taking Control of the Environments that Control You

Categories: Jack's Blog

You...A Bestselling Author?

"Environment is stronger than will-power"
- Paramahansa Yogananda

The environments that we live in—all nine of them—either inspire us or expire us. They facilitate our success or they detract from our success. They energize us or they drain us. They relax us or they stress us. The good news is that we have a lot of control of the environments that affect us. We can de-clutter our office, create better filing systems, paint a wall, redecorate a room, clean out the garage, join a health club, hire a personal trainer, buy a treadmill or some free weights, join a yoga class, join a mastermind group, move to a new area, take walks in the park, schedule more time with friends, stop hanging out with negative people, hire a coach, hire a financial planner, join an investment club, feng shui your home or apartment, or subscribe to a positive magazine. While it is true that our environments exert a lot of control over our feelings and behavior, we have the power to create environments that positively impact us.

The only thing you can do to transform an environment is to add something (a new person, a new piece of equipment, a new belief), delete something (a negative person, the TV from your bedroom, a self-limiting belief, clutter), or modify something (paint a room, set a boundary with a family member, change where you eat dinner).

As you review the nine environments (listed below) that constantly surround you in your life, ask yourself "what could I add, delete or modify in each of these environments that would contribute to my success or enhance the quality of my life?"  Usually we are unconscious about the effects that our environments are having on us. Now you can be aware of each of these environments and choose to consciously design them to support you in creating and maintaining the life you wish to experience.

So as not to overwhelm yourself, start by picking three of the nine environments to actively change or modify, and once you see some results, work out from there. You will eventually discover that changing any one environment will begin to affect all of the other environments.

Here are the Nine Environments:

Nature

Relationships

6 Degrees or Separation
Communities you belong to - Church, dojo, schools, Children’s sports teams, associations, charities, meetings, Mastermind groups

I wish to thank Jim Bunch at The Ultimate Game of Life, who first made me aware of the Nine Environments and the tremendous power they exert over our lives.

You...A Bestselling Author?

Categories: Jack's Blog

You...A Bestselling Author?

I wrote my first book, 100 Ways to Enhance Self Concept in the Classroom, back in the 1970s when I was a teacher in Chicago. But as a teacher I did not know anything about selling books.  I just wanted to make a difference and contribute my ideas to the world.

What I learned very quickly was that unless you let people know about your book, no one is going to buy it.

Today, my hope is that I can inspire and empower people to achieve more of what they want to do, and I love sharing information that I think will help people fulfill their dreams.  That’s why my friend, Steve Harrison, and I recently teamed up to create a free video training series specifically geared toward anyone who has written a book, or wants to some day.

I’ve known Steve for years – ever since we used his company to promote Chicken Soup for the Soul. He has helped more than 12,000 authors promote their books and he is an expert at what he does. In these videos we share the strategies I've used to sell over 500 million copies of Chicken Soup for The Soul, launch 47 books to the New York Times Best Seller List and much more!

In this three-part series of FREE online training videos you’ll discover:

8 critical things you need to know to become a successful author.
How to get started writing your book (and get it done quickly).
What it takes to hit the New York Times Best Seller List (and key mistakes
that prevent many authors from hitting the list even when they sell lots of books).
The Author's Money Tree and ten often-overlooked ways to profit from your book.
The key component your book MUST include to be successful.
How one book generated only $35,000 in royalties but over $10 million in total revenue.
A common mistake that causes many authors to take FOREVER to write their books.
How to get celebrities to endorse your book.
Are you in sales, business or professional practice? How writing a book can position you
as an expert and help you attract paying clients pre-sold on doing business with you.
The four critical publishing players you need to win over to make your book successful.
A strategy you can copy which generated $24,000/month in the early days of
Chicken Soup for the Soul.
10 keys to creating a bestselling book before you finish writing it.
Not-so-obvious common traits of bestselling books.
The "bypass marketing" strategy that made Chicken Soup for the Soul a big hit.
How to make your book 'media-genic' so it naturally attracts free publicity.
The E+R=O formula Jack credits for his success.
How to craft a book which change people's lives for the better.

So far, we've heard great feedback from people who have watched the videos, so if you'd like to discover how to sell a lot of copies of your book...or perhaps even one day see it on the New York Times Best Seller List, click here.  Our hope is that this video series will help you become a (more) successful author, so please enjoy!!

A Bittersweet Goodbye...Join Me For The Grand Celebration!

Categories: Jack's Blog

BTSEvery summer I hold my Breakthrough to Success training and I've had over 5,000 people graduate from the program and literally transform their lives.  During the past 30 years, I've guided high achievers through the time-proven system participants learn during Breakthrough to Success and it has been some of the most rewarding work I've ever done!

However, after careful contemplation - and with 2012 being a year of massive transformation and change - I've decided that the time is right to move forward with my plans to retire this 7-day training program.

This will be such a bittersweet goodbye for me as Breakthrough to Success is hands-down my favorite week of the year, because I get to help hundreds of high achievers break through their limitations and finally get to where they want to be in life.

I am busy actively working on many new projects for 2013 (it's just the training that's "retiring," not me personally) but if you’ve ever wanted my personal guidance and attention for 7 full days, I invite you to attend the grand finale for this one-of-a-kind program.

During this life-changing 7-day retreat, we'll work together to:

Discover and Fine-Tune your vision
Align your goals with your purpse (a key to achieving success effortlessly)
Create a plan for bringing your dreams to life
Get the tools, strategies and confidence to secure the resources you need
Create a life you're truly excited to wake up to each day
And so much more!

You'll walk out laser-focused, bursting with confidence, armed with a detailed plan of what to do each step of the way, and supported by a new family of like-minded people  to cheer you on.

Since this summer’s Breakthrough To Success will be our final 7-day training, we are going all out, making this a celebration of huge proportions, and a very special training for participants.  I'm excited to see that over a quarter of the seats have already been filled and I just know it will be best BTS yet.

August 12th can’t come soon enough...I hope you'll make the decision to share this experience with me!

Breakthrough To Success, August 12-18, 2012

Reduce Your Fears in No Time

Categories: Jack's Blog

Hiker CrossingIs there a reason that you can't accomplish the goals that you set?

Yes — and it comes from a source that you usually think of as an ally: your mind… especially your subconscious mind.

When you have fears or concerns about what you believe it will take to achieve the goal, or about what will happen after you achieve that goal, you may sabotaging yourself in getting results.

Take Laura, for example. Laura started writing a book with a specific goal for completing it, but never seemed to get there. When she considered what she thought would happen after the book was completed, she quickly realized that she had many fears… including a fear that the book would be criticized, or that it would raise her visibility and make her a target of attention, or that success might pull her away from her family.

When you have underlying thoughts like this, it's no surprise that you've stopped pursuing, or at least slowed, in taking action on your goals!

To find out if you have any "goal stoppers", ask yourself… 'What's the worst that could happen if I accomplished this goal?' and 'What will it cost me to achieve this goal?'

Make a complete list of your concerns about taking action to accomplish your goal, and of what might happen if you accomplished it. Actually write them down.

Some of your concerns may seem a bit far-fetched—even silly—when you put them down on paper, but some will feel very real.

The truth is, however, that those events you fear may or may not come to pass.  We often scare ourselves by imagining negative outcomes to any activities we pursue or experience. If you're stopped from moving towards your goal, you will never know what you could accomplish.
In order to move ahead powerfully, you'll need to remove those fears.

Trying to talk yourself out of them is usually of limited usefulness, so I suggest using tapping, also known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques.)   It's a powerful way to reduce those fears in no time.

If you'd like more information on how to use tapping to overcome your goal stoppers, join me and Pamela Bruner (Business Success Coach and EFT tapping expert) for a free LiveStream presentation, "Ultimate Success LIVE." We'll show you exactly how to identify those fears that sabotage your goals, and what to do about it.
