Gender Reveal

The Handsome and I didn’t want to know the gender of our li’l Wallwork until the kiddo was born. Surprises are fun.

But we also needed to know how to plan. Thinking of a name takes *forever*.

So we found a compromise: The doctor would write down what the baby was on an ultrasound printout, and slip it into an envelope while still keeping it a secret.

He was game :)

My younger sister, Emily, (you know her!) took the envelope and planned a gender reveal to surprise us :) :)

And boy did she surprise us!

Along with the staff at Disney World’s Crystal Palace!

YEAH it was pretty epic! We are the luckiest new parents ever ^_^

We like the name Whittaker :)

A Quiet Place

TH & I saw “A Quiet Place Part II” on Friday.

It was really good. At least, the 5 minutes I saw of it were really good.

TH says he owes me a night of Barbie movies and I say that’s definitely a fair trade 😂😂

Storks

So…we have some news 😁😁😁

Ya. We are still in shock haha. I had extreeeemely low AMH levels (less than .1) plus I was pretty beat up inside due to multiple large cysts. There was even a time when I started to go into pre-menopause…

So basically, it’s a miracle baby. We couldn’t be happier :)

Family Photos

ME: Honeybunch, we’ve got to get new family photos. The last ones we had were 3 years ago at our wedding and since then we’ve both gained weight and lost hair.

TH: Isn’t that why we shouldn’t get family photos?

ME: I have an idea. Let’s wear black clothes, black hats, black shoes, black masks, and take them against a black wall with black sofa and a black rug.

TH: GENIUS.

We like how they turned out.

We wanted to get the vibe of Korean prewedding photography. I know. Niche, but I love them SO MUCH.

Of course, it helps that The Handsome is SO HANDSOME RAWRRR

I like this one :) :) ↓↓↓

But this one is my favorite ↓↓↓↓↓ It felt like a good memorandum on the year.

I think it would be hilarious to wear that mask while grocery shopping.

Groceries

Someone left groceries on our porch a few days ago.

They were good groceries, too. Almond milk, cuties, a bag of pink apples, the fluffy white bread that tastes like dessert…even one of those bags of potatoes that you get in the chilled section of the grocery store. I felt pretty spoiled.

In fact, I felt a little too spoiled. We live in a townhouse where our porch looks like a lot of other porches, and we’re not poor (I don’t think?) so it got me kind of worried.

We checked outside to search for clues…

…..AND THERE WERE NO FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW

Back Again

So it’s been a while.

I was visiting family and 2 of my nieces slipped me this note:

Apparently they’ve been checking my blog every day to see if I’ve posted any new comics.

That’s 349 days of disappointment.

I’m a bad aunt.

Here’s my lame excuse: I had surgery late last year, so I was recovering from that, and then the pandemic hit and everything shut down…

EXCEPT animation, which completely exploded.

I guess it’s because artists can do their work in complete isolation and never have to leave the house.

I haven’t left in 9 months and am slowly returning to nature. AKA yoga pants and eating food straight from the serving bowls with my fingers.

The workload has been insane–(which is awesome)–but I’m definitely ready for this pandemic stuff to be over. I miss restaurants and movies. We were going to go to Disneyland in November

(But seriously; you all are winners. They are a just enchanting. I love you guys!)

The winners, from youngest to oldest age categories!

Very nice! But who is the winner of the all-category prize?

Ayla! So nice!

Everyone did such a great job, I wanted to include all your drawings. Below are the youngest to oldest entries!

Love the rat ^_^

Also the nutcracker’s coloring

I was uber impressed by the 18+ age category. I think next time I’ll do more prizes in that group!

Also (I cannot neglect family) I gotta give an honorary shoutout to my sister, Lilli, and my niece, Anna. Family gets books free #perks! but I thought their entries were just lovely. Huzzah for more artists in the family!

Thank you so much, everyone, for entering! (And Merry Christmas!)

“The Enchanted Sonata” Coloring Contest!

CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS

I freaking love Christmas. Most of the stories I write take place at Christmastime. I remember writing “The Enchanted Sonata” during the Christmas season, looking out the train window at the howling snow, and listening to The Nutcracker Ballet Overture on my earbuds and thinking, Man…this is the best feeling in the world.

(It is.)

Because it’s been Christmas, “The Enchanted Sonata” (a retelling of The Nutcracker Ballet”) has been on my mind! I got the hardback copy not too long ago and it is GORGEOUS.

Booyah!

Christmas season is the season of giving and I want to give a copy away to YOU! It’s been a while since we’ve done a coloring contest and I think it’s high time.

Here’s how to play: Download this sheet and color it. There is space to add a background too, if you’d like! (You can also find the coloring page here: shorturl.at/tGPS2 ). Then, fill out your name, email, and age, and send it back to storyboarder@gmail.com within the week (by Dec. 15th.) The entries will be judged on creativity, skill/rendering, and also by age. (1-5, 7-12, 13-17, and 18+)

Each age category will have a WINNER who will receive a paperback copy of “The Enchanted Sonata”! Nice! But only one GRAND PRIZE winner will win the hardback book. (Not to worry–age will be factored into the judge’s decision.)

Questions? Leave a comment below! I can’t wait to see everyone’s awesome entries ^_^

Hobo Hair

This guy is hilarious, and also, I’m scared to death of him.

I haven’t updated this blog in a while! I realize my last post was around the time I became the Young Women’s president in my ward. Go figure. Lol. Planning to update more frequently starting next month
