Welcome to the YA Scavenger Hunt, preciouses!! I’m excited to be a part of your book adventure! And thank you for hosting me, Lani.
Okay, so for my bookish post, I thought we might chat about weather and scenery. Specifically in story. Because like most people in this universe I’m absolutely IN LOVE with atmosphere, both in real life and books. It seriously can shift my mood faster than anything, and, in my own writing, is so much a part of how the world for STORM SIREN and SIREN’S FURY was developed.
  
I live in California right between where the mountains meet the desert on one side, and the foothills meet the beaches on the other.  Which means there’s plenty of atmosphere to be had, and when it came time to set the scenery and tone for my stories, I didn’t have to look far. In fact, it was through many short drives to the beach and watching the storms roll in that the books were plotted.






And because my main character, Nym, lives on an island, the ocean also became my go-to place for capturing the salted air and foggy evenings when I felt particularly bereft on description. (Funny enough, it was through watching lightning strikes and clouded skies that my main character, Nym’s, Elemental powers came into imaginary existence.)


And since her island is rather reminiscent of Ireland (and I am sadly quite far from there), I ended up taking long walks on my local hills with my husband and kids to help set the tone the best I could for Nym’s very green, very lush, main kingdom of Faelen.  

And when those green hills turned dry in the hot California summer weather? They inspired the setting for Nym’s love interest’s kingdom of Bron.

 

Well that and the maps my dad drew for the books. Because he is the most adorable man I know, and really, what are dads for? :0)


So that is where the world and weather for SIREN’S FURY came from. (Basically, my own backyard. ;0))

(I want to remind my readers that I would rate this series as a whole--and this book specifically--PG-13, for mild (but used fairly often) swear words, alcohol and drug references, and overall theme of the story. With that being said, I LOVE this book and this series. I hope you end up caring as much about Axl as Erica Cameron and I do.)

This summer I was blessed and lucky enough to have Erica Cameron come and visit me. She is more than a friend though; she is also my co-author for the Laguna Tide Series. While she was here we planned a mass photo shoot for the remaining covers in the series. The shoot was fun and highly successful. We were in love with the images. There was a slight problem though. They did not match Taken By Chance's cover. At all. So we decided to re-shoot that cover, and this amazing image is what we came up with. While the picture was exactly what we hoped, the talented Cait Greer's work with the font made it perfect. We love these books and are beyond pleased that the models actually look like our characters.

Hi guys! I'm very excited to tell you that this coming Tuesday, May 5th, I have a new book coming out called Taken By Chance. It's the first  in a five book series that I have co-written with my friend Erica Cameron. Each of the five books has a different narrator from a circle of friends. This book is written from the male POV. Actually all of the books are. They are set on a fictional island we named Laguna Tides.  I don't usually rate my books. If I had to, with this series as a whole, I would rate it a little more PG-13 than my other books, for mild language, a fairly intense (for my books anyway) make-out scene, some difficult topics and couples who would rather kiss than talk about their problems. If you read my blog, then you'll know I love E.M. Tippetts' books. I have enjoyed all of them.  'Someone Else's Fairytale' is my favorite series though. This book is the third in that series. I really think you should read the first two before you read this one.
First, let me say I LOVED this book. Jason and Chloe remain one of my favorite literary couples. They are both good characters, genuinely nice people you can cheer for. I've enjoyed their fairytale. What's interesting about this series is we get to  see what happens after they fall in love and get married. Chloe is getting more sure of herself and letting her emotional guards down further. Chloe is such a good lead. She tries so hard to think clearly and not to jump to conclusions. She had more strength in this book. Seeing her stand up for herself was very welcome. She has really grown throughout the series while still retaining her sweetness.


While we have Chloe's work playing an important role in the book there is still plenty of time spent with her family and friends. Those scenes and the ones with Jason are my favorite. I know Jason's ex-girlfriend went through something awful but I still do not like her. I did appreciate Jason's handling of her though. I like Jason a lot. He and Chloe are a wonderful couple and I'm hoping there are children in their near future. I highly recommend this series.

While the storyline wrapped up nicely I was left wishing the story kept going. I think I heard that Tippets is planning on continuing the series. I really hope so!
