Five Ways to Get Your Life Flowing Again

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

Don’t you just hate it when your get-up-and-go has gotten up and left? We often call it procrastination. We think of it as a bad thing. However, I have a different idea. I believe it’s a gift from your intuition.

When you feel drained, bored, tired or uninterested in something, your inner guidance is informing you that there’s no power there. It’s saying, “Don’t go there!” Or, at the very least, “Don’t stay here.” Intuition is telling you to begin moving in the direction of your excitement, enthusiasm and passion. How do you figure this out?

Try these five ideas:

1) First, I’d like you to fill in the blank in the following statement:
“The one thing I’d most love to do in my life right now is ____________.”

2) Make time for it! Choose one thing each day to move in the direction of what you’re excited and enthusiastic about.

3) Let go of what’s draining you. Perhaps you’ve been procrastinating and feeling down because something or someone is taking a lot of energy. Begin to set some boundaries with those people or situations.

4) Tap into your joy. Notice the moments in your day when you feel the happiest, the most content, or when time is flying by. What you focus on increases.

5) Check in with your “Inner Vitality Meter.” When you’re trying to make a decision, write down your options. As you review the list, notice how you respond. Which option scores the highest in terms of your interest, enthusiasm or curiosity? That’s the one to choose!

Write a comment and let me know how this technique is working for you in your life. I’d love to hear from you.

Want to Create A Life You Adore? Try this intuitive experiment!

relax Dear Intuitive Seeker –

I love doing intuitive readings to help you get clarity to create a life you love. It’s gratifying to be able to provide insights that will allow you to achieve your dreams. Do you want to know what stops most people?

They don’t dream big enough, so they feel uninspired to move forward. They talk themselves out of the dream. “I can’t afford it.” “I’m not educated enough.” “I don’t deserve it.” Or “I don’t know how to achieve it” are common statements.

It’s hard to create a life you adore if you do any of these things!

Would you like to try an experiment to get you moving in a new direction?

I’m going to ask you to try some things on pure faith. Try to put aside your natural inclination to make logical sense of this process. Here are the concepts:

1.) There is a Divine Intelligence that wants you to succeed. It wants you to be happy about your life and living. It wants you to do the thing or things you’re passionate about. That’s part of your mission here on Earth. It doesn’t matter what that mission is, whether it’s being a good mother or father, a great dancer, a whiz at accounting, an awe-inspiring athlete or a profound philosopher. This Intelligence wants you to succeed and will do whatever it can to assist you.

2.) Take 15-20 minutes to yourself where you won’t be disturbed. Think about the life you want. On your computer or a pad of paper write the answers to the following questions.- What does your ideal day, week or month look like?

– What are you doing?
– Is it different from month to month?
– Who are you with?
– What brings you joy or makes you feel excited or curious?

If you’re more of a visual person you might find it helpful to do this exercise with a batch of magazines and a pair of scissors. Cut out pictures and words that represent the life you want.

3.) As you do the exercise in #2, be aware of your self-talk. What are you saying to yourself about your ability to achieve this new life? You will need to work diligently at keeping your focus off what you don’t want and maintain focus on your goal. Learn to re-direct your thoughts. When you notice yourself dwelling on pessimistic or negative thoughts, shift your focus to what you want.

Take time each day to visualize your ideal life. Some people can’t SEE it, but they can feel it. That’s fine, too. In this way you add power to the vibrational energy that will attract your goal. Your feelings and emotions are an important part of this process. What does it feel like to have what you want? Use the power of your emotions as you visualize.

Each day take at least one step toward what you’re excited about. This might mean taking a class, going to an informational interview, joining a club or association, writing an article, making a call, or sending an e-mail. Your excitement is a message from your intuition about the next step to take. Whatever it is — do it!

Your goal should be to enjoy this process. Learn to be grateful for all that you’ve created. As you move towards your desired outcome, you’ll find new objectives emerging. That’s fine and as it should be. Remember to have fun!

What did you come up with? I’d love to read your answers!

The Secret? Set Your Intention!

happy Dear Intuitive Seeker –

In March I celebrated my 35th year of being in the intuitive reading business. I look back and am amazed that this work has allowed me to write seven books, to travel and speak internationally and to provide intuitive sessions for tens of thousands of clients. I credit my intuition with guiding me through all of the ups and downs in my life.

I think of intuition like our “Inner GPS.” When you set the navigation system in your car or phone you choose a destination. Intuition works the same way! Where do you want to go in life? What does success look like to you? What would make you happy and at peace? Set your intention and your intuition will begin to guide you.

I thought I’d share a few things I’ve learned from my intuitive guidance over the years. They’ve helped me navigate my life. Hopefully they’ll help you, too!

What Me Worry?

Worry is like any bad habit. It can be addictive. One small fear leads to another and another. Before you know it, you’ve imagined your life falling apart, not only now, but ad infinitum into your future. One of the ways to begin breaking any habit is to simply recognize you’re doing it! Oops! “There I caught myself imagining not being able to pay my rent again, getting evicted and being homeless.”

But, simply the recognition that you’re worrying isn’t usually enough to change it. What can you do to switch the channel? Ask yourself the question, “What do I want?” For example, if your worry du jour is imagining yourself broke and penniless, turn it around. What you probably want is to feel safe. You might also want to imagine having enough or more than enough money. Your task at this point is not to figure out how this will happen. It’s simply to begin choosing something you want versus something you don’t.

Just for today: Remind yourself that the Universe wants you to live a happy, healthy and abundant life. Allow yourself to receive all those Divine blessings.

The Intuitive “To Do” List

The root of the word “enthusiasm” is from the Greek word entheos. It means, “God within” or “guidance within.” Just think about that for a moment. When you’re enthusiastic about something you’re receiving Divine guidance!

When you look at your “to do” list, what makes you feel excited, enthusiastic, curious or passionate? You’re being guided to do more of those things.

The opposite is true, too. If you look at that list and feel bored, drained, listless and lacking enthusiasm, something is wrong. What could you change in your life to make this list something that you can’t wait to tackle? Take a look again at the ones that make you feel excited. This will give you a helpful clue.

Just for today: Pay attention to those enthusiasms. Write them down. More importantly, act on them! God told you to!

Do You Wish You Had More Confidence?

You’re not alone! I hear this from so many clients, even the people who seem to be among the most accomplished. It’s such a dream-killer to tell yourself, “I’d love to… (fill-in-the-blank) start a business, move to a new area, go back to school…” but I’m scared. I lack self-confidence.

We secretly wish there was a Confidence Fairy who could sprinkle her magic dust over us. Voila! Confidence! I’ll tell you the real secret. Shh…

It’s to do the thing you’re scared to do.

It’s true. Confidence comes from exercising your courage muscles and doing the thing that frightens you. Former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt knew this when she said, “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

Just for today: Take a risk. Do one thing that scares you. It needn’t be a big thing. Make it a small thing. Repeat again tomorrow. Soon, you too, will be feeling confident. Fairy dust anyone?

Step Into Your Greatness!

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

What you say to yourself when you talk to yourself has a huge impact on what happens in your life. You create what you focus on through the power of your thoughts, the images you hold in your mind, and emotions. When you begin to choose your thoughts in a more conscious fashion, you can begin to shape your destiny. I love what Law-of-Attraction author Esther Hicks says about this: “Find something that makes you happy and fixate on it. That is the answer to all things. It’s the answer to getting everything that you want.”

How is your intuition tied into this? When you are consistently holding negative or pessimistic thoughts, you’ll feel bad. This is one of the ways your intuition has of signaling you that you’re on the wrong track. It’s as if your bad mood or irritability is your intuition’s early warning system letting you know you’re about to create something less than positive in your life. It’s cautioning you to redirect your thinking.

Pay Attention to the Focus of Your Thoughts

Try this experiment: Think of something that you really want. Got it? Now spend about thirty seconds saying to yourself, “I’ll never get it. I’m not good enough. I’m not lucky. It will never happen.” You get the idea. Now, how do you feel? I imagine that you felt awful, right? Great! That’s your intuition giving you a message to change your thinking!

Try this experiment again. This time bring to mind what you want to create in your life and then spend thirty seconds saying the following: “I’m so excited about having (this thing). I know I’m on the right track. I have what it takes to succeed at this. It’s only a matter of time until it happens.” I’ll bet you feel more positive. Again, this is a message from your intuition. This time your good feelings are an indication that you’re on the right track and sending out the right vibration or energy to attract what you desire.

Accentuate the Positive

Your intuition is your ally in creating a life you love. It is your Inner GPS (navigation system) indicating the right direction for success. It’s always running in the background suggesting you step into your greatness, your purpose and passion. Pay attention to your thoughts and feelings. If you catch yourself feeling down, depressed or just plain pessimistic, see if you can track your thoughts back to what you were just thinking about or telling yourself.

Be vigilant about turning your negative thoughts to something positive. Notice when you get feedback from your intuition that the thoughts you’re thinking are not attracting what you desire and immediately ask yourself two questions.

What do I want in this transition? Is there a more positive way of thinking about it?

Continue to choose thoughts that make you feel better. This doesn’t mean lying to yourself. Be compassionate with yourself as you learn this new skill. It takes practice to be a conscious creator of your world!

Small Steps to Success

A slightly different question to ask yourself is, “What would be the most perfect outcome to this situation?”

Write a paragraph or so about what you want. Don’t try to figure out how you’re going to get it. That’s for your intuition to work out.

Close your eyes. Briefly bring to mind the situation that’s causing your concern.

Now bring to mind the outcome that you want. Spend a few moments visualizing this perfect outcome. What feeling would you be experiencing if you got what you want? As you visualize this image, feel those emotions. Add some words to your imagery. Use whatever works for you. “This is great.” “I feel terrific!” Imagine your friends and family celebrating with you. Do whatever you can to make this image real and vivid.

Ask your intuition, “What could I do right now?” Await a response. Open your eyes when you feel ready. Jot down any ideas, thoughts and impressions you may have had.

Don’t take action simply on what you think makes sense. Act only on impulses that feel like fun, make you excited, or seem enjoyable to you. Your intuition will begin to bring together the circumstances and synchronicities to create your goal.

We’re all born with the gift of intuition. It’s an inner compass that resides within each of us. Listen to it and honor it. It will always lead you in the direction of success.

Seven Ways to Jump Start Your Inner Wisdom

“The main reason intuition is so important is this: It is a clear sign that you are connecting with your inner spiritual guidance system. Intuition is a direct signal from your deepest self that you are navigating from your true center.” – Drs. Gay Hendricks and Kate Ludeman, authors of “The Corporate Mystic”

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

Sometimes we just need the answer NOW! Below are seven ways to jump start your intuition when you have a decision to make.

MEDITATE. Simply calm your mind by focusing on your breathing. Repeat a word or phrase that makes you feel relaxed such as “peace,” “It’s all good,” or “calm.” Buddhists call this “mindfulness.” When we slow down for even a few moments we cultivate our creativity, intuition and inner peace.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT QUESTIONS. Framing the questions to evoke more than a “yes” or “no” answer will elicit a more informative response. For example, “How can we get more people to sign up for our seminar next month?” Or, “What could we do to create more brand recognition of product X?” Spend your remaining time writing any and all answers that pop into your mind. Don’t censor or judge the responses until you’ve completed the exercise.

ASK FOR AN IMAGE. If you’re trying to make a decision about something and your logical, rational mind is running amok, close your eyes and ask for a symbolic picture of the solution. Intuitive answers often come through a visual representation.

GET MOVING. Simply standing up and moving will bring more oxygen to your brain and help you think more clearly. Put your work on hold and go for a brisk walk. Chances are good that simply getting away from your desk and taking your focus off your problem will generate a creative idea or two.

DAYDREAM. Think about the challenge, decision or problem you’re facing. In your mind’s eye visualize yourself in a situation where you’re dealing with this issue and expect an answer. Perhaps someone comes up to you and provides the solution in a conversation. Or you might see a book, banner, note or some other communication that gives you a clue to the response you’re seeking. While it may seem odd or silly, you’d be surprised how many wonderful solutions come forth this way.

NOTICE HOW IT FEELS. You’re trying to make a decision about whether to invest in an expensive new piece of equipment your factory manager is asking for. He’s presented a good case with all the facts and figures. You’re still not sure. Close your eyes and imagine saying “yes.” How does that decision feel? How do you feel emotionally? Heavy, weighty, depressing feelings generally indicate “Don’t go with this.” Up, energizing, enthusiastic, positive emotions point to an affirmative response.

WHAT DOES YOUR BODY SAY? The ancient Chinese believed that wisdom resides in the stomach. An early example of “trust your gut” perhaps? If your stomach becomes nervous at the thought of a particular direction, pay attention. Other physical sensations may provide clues as well. Perhaps you break into a sweat when faced with a choice you know isn’t right. Others might feel a tingly zing up their spine. On the other hand, a warm, cozy feeling might indicate you’re heading in the right direction. Only you know your body and can read its signs. When you’re comfortable translating its messages you’ll have tapped into your inner genius.

Happy Anniversary to Me!

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

35 years ago I was desperately unhappy in my job as the Operations Manager of a software company in Boston. I dreamed of “helping people” and being self-employed. My problem was that I had no idea what that business might be! I took a Law of Attraction class and began journaling, meditating, visualizing and taking action steps each day. My 3-step process looked like this:

1) I wrote down what I wanted my life and work to look and feel like. Words like freedom, service, spiritual, flexible, fun and abundant kept coming up as I wrote.

2) Every day I visualized for a few minutes. I talked to myself as if I already had what I wanted. “I love my work!” “My clients are happy.” “I am a successful business owner.”

3) I asked myself, “What could I do today to move in this direction?” I paid attention to the intuitive wisdom that came my way. Call someone. Take a class. Tweak my marketing information. Keep visualizing.

One of the small steps I took was to take a class on “Developing Your Intuition.” I fell in love! I found that receiving Divine guidance for fellow students in the class was easy, fun and effortless. The idea of this being my new business was born!

If you’ve read my book, Divine Intuition you know what happened next. I met a Boston Globe newspaper reporter at a friend’s funeral. We chatted after the service and I ended up telling her about my business idea. She asked for an intuitive reading and subsequently wrote an article about how much she loved it. It was entitled “Psychic Psychology.”

The first few lines read:

Whatever one’s vision of the psychic might be, Lynn A. Robinson is probably not it. There’s a practical quality to some of what she offers, and at the same time she has been known to have some extraordinary “seeings” into the specifics of a client’s life.

The article garnered well over 500 clients over the next several months and my business was launched!

So here I am 35 years later. I’ve written seven books on intuition, lectured internationally and have a two-month wait list for new clients. Wow!

Thank you to all my wonderful clients and readers of my books and newsletters. Many of you have become friends over the years. I appreciate each one of you. My wish is that you trust your own fabulous intuition and allow it to guide you to a life you love! (And if you need some help, book a session with me!)

Make Room for Fun

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

I was meditating one day this past week. My mind stubbornly refused to quiet down. One-by-one, events from this past year kept leaping to my mind, creating an unsettled meditation session. There have been a lot of difficult times this year for all of us. Mine included a recent difficult conversation with a friend, concern about my husband’s health and the business disappointment.

As my mind was busy processing all these events, I heard a still, quiet inner voice that said, “Make room for fun.” At first I was tempted to dismiss it. “After all,” my logical mind interjected, “This is a difficult time. This isn’t the best period to be whooping it up, given all the challenging issues presenting themselves at this time in my life.”

It got me to thinking what better time to experience some fun and joy? I’m in a period of waiting for several things to occur. I have to wait anyway. Why not be happy while the process is unfolding? I tend to be an optimistic person. My favorite affirmation is, “Be patient. Things have a way of working out.” It seems to cover all the bases of issues in my life! I decided I might as well relax and enjoy the flow of life rather than being miserable and stressed!

I began by asking myself a series of questions. This week, I’d like to invite you to join in the fun by looking them over and coming up with your own answers.

When you think back on the past year, which activities have been highlights for you?How could you include more of the above in the future?Who do you enjoy spending time with?Who have you been meaning to get together with?Who makes you laugh the most?Who do you feel most comfortable with? What have you been doing when time has “flown by?”Make a list of fun activities. Which ones could you do this week? What activities make you feel challenged and stimulated? What activities do you most enjoy that are free?

My list included discovering interesting places to go for walks, finding good places for takeout food, making new friends, taking a virtual “Food as Medicine” cooking class, giving myself permission to read a trashy novel, and getting together with a friend for some hikes around Maine.

What does your list include? I’d love to hear about it! My wish for you…to have fun, even during the difficult times.

Bloom Where You’re Planted!

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

I’ve noticed a theme among my intuitive reading clients last month. There were a lot of folks struggling with job loss, health and relationship challenges, and various difficulties with family members. However, what stood out was that several of them chose the “I’ll just bloom where I’m planted” mode of handling life’s challenges.

I like the empowering message that the phrase evokes. It invites us to think about our situation differently. Yes, perhaps you’re out of work, but what could you do that’s fun while you’re looking? Maybe you’re going through a bad patch with your significant other. You can use intuitive resources to reframe the situation and work out some new and creative solutions. Whatever your situation, you can choose to bloom right where you’re planted.

“Ruth” told me she had been out of work for over six months and was understandably discouraged. One day, she felt an intuitive nudge to use her mentoring skills in a new way. She decided to volunteer for a local women’s shelter. She became close to another woman who was also a volunteer. It turned out that this woman was a senior vice president at a local company. Ruth had sent her resume there and hadn’t heard back. After seeing Ruth’s skills in action, the woman asked her to join her department!

“Bob’s” mother had died last year. His sadness was compounded by the fact that his brother had stopped speaking to him after their mom’s funeral. He had spent fruitless hours trying to figure out what had caused this falling out. One day while praying, he asked for guidance about how to heal this breach in communication. When he finished, he checked his email and learned that a favorite band was holding a local concert. He and his brother had gone to one of these concerts several years ago and had a great time. He decided to get two tickets. If his brother didn’t want to go or didn’t return his calls, he’d invite someone else and still have a good time. Much to his surprise, his brother accepted, and it was the beginning of a healing between them.

Where can you bloom in your life? Is there something you’ve been struggling with, suffering over or worrying about? It’s possible you can’t change the specific situation you find yourself in, but I’d love to encourage you to dream big and make life an adventure again despite your circumstances. Here are some questions to get you started:

How can you make the best of your situation? What would make life fun or interesting again? What are you yearning for? What’s your next right step? What does your intuition say? What would you do today if you weren’t afraid?

I’d love to hear your thoughts! What could you do to “bloom” right now?

How to Change Your Beliefs and Attract Success

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

In my previous blog, I wrote about affirmations and negative beliefs. So how do you begin to turn around a negative core belief? First, it’s necessary to become aware of this belief. It’s not unconscious or invisible as some people would have you think. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Is there some chronic situation that continually repeats in my life?

Examples:

A) Perhaps you’re always finding yourself in a relationship with someone who cheats on you.

B) You continually have run-ins with authority figures.

C) You’re always overlooked for promotion at work.

What belief do I hold that might impact this chronic situation?

In the above examples a person who experiences “A” might hold the belief, “You just can’t trust men (or women).

The person who experiences “B” might hold a strong belief in their own lack of ability or education and thus need to “prove they are right” in experiencing conflict with an authority figure.

The person who experiences “C” might believe, “I’ll never get ahead. This is my lot in life.”

Ask yourself “Is this belief a fact or a perception?”

Here’s the tricky part — because you hold a strong belief about an issue, you are going to create it in your life. Your belief will appear to be true. The world around you will reinforce your belief. Part of the task in releasing a belief that no longer works for you is to begin to see it as a perception you have about your life. It’s possible to change a perception. If you’re willing to do this you will create a profound change in your life.

Am I willing to change my belief? If so, what am I willing to change it to?

What outcome do you want to create? Changing a strong core belief isn’t as easy as simply stating affirmations. Begin with small steps. Your task right now is to entertain the possibility that what you want to create is possible. Often when people try to do affirmations they take too big a leap. For example, if you’re overwhelmed with credit card debt and you’re trying to believe and affirm, “I have an abundance of money,” you probably won’t succeed.

Be willing to say, “I believe it’s possible to have…”

enough moneya good relationship with my kidsa healthy bodya loving partnerhappy relationships with my peerswork that I love

What do you want?

Ask your intuition for help.

Imagine your intuition as your own personal cheerleading squad. It has been with you from birth, giving you encouraging messages like, “You are worthy.” “Be willing to take a risk to do what you love.” “I am here for you.” “Here’s an idea about how to proceed.” “Let me help you.” It has communicated to you in images, dreams, words, and ideas that pop into your head, as well as physical sensations and inner promptings. Can you grasp how hard it is to help you when you’re full of untruths such as “I’m not worthy?” Or “Nothing good ever happens to me?”

Be willing to change those thoughts. Open up to the possibility that your life could be different, and I guarantee your intuitive guidance system will respond with wild cheers, and your life will begin to change for the better. When you shift your beliefs to allow for the possibility that you could have a life you love, you open up a channel of loving encouragement. Don’t close it off. It’s there to help you achieve success beyond your wildest dreams.

Your Thoughts Have the Power to Change Your Life

Dear Intuitive Seeker –

If you’ve read any of my books, you know that I’m a big fan of affirmations. When I began my “Intuitive Consulting” business many years ago I gave my clients fairly traditional “psychic readings.” I talked to them about what I saw in their future. A traditional psychic reading implies the philosophy that the future is fated and predestined. In other words, you can’t change it. Your fate is sealed by some unknown force — God, karma or kismet. Over a several year period I began to doubt that assumption. Instead I began to read people’s beliefs.

I came to understand that what my clients held in their minds — what they believed — created what occurred in their lives. The beliefs they held created their future. This presented a huge dilemma for me. I could no longer simply tell clients, “Here’s what I see for you.” I began to talk to them about how they create their lives and the events that happen to them.

Discovering and correcting limiting beliefs is absolutely essential if you want to create a life you love. Here are some examples of limiting beliefs:

I’ll never get ahead.I don’t have the confidence to do X.If something good happens, something bad must follow. You have to work hard every day in order to succeed.Life is difficult and suffering is unavoidable. This is my lot in life. You can’t change things.Money doesn’t come easily. The rich get richer. The poor get poorer. When you get old, you inevitably get sick, weak and feeble. There’s not enough to go around.I did something bad in a past life and I’m paying for it in this life.

Many people have individual beliefs that impair their ability to create a life they love. Here are some examples I call the tyranny of the “not enoughs”: I’m not smart enough. I’m not educated enough. I’m not thin enough. I’m not old (or young) enough. I’m not rich enough.

Just writing down all those limitations makes me depressed! The main point is that if you hold onto any one of those limiting beliefs, you’ll have trouble creating a life you love. That’s why simple affirmations don’t always work. If you repeat the affirmation, “I am healthy” and yet you firmly believe that as you grow older you’ll become chronically ill and weak, you have a strong opposing core belief and your affirmations will probably be ineffective.

You may receive wise guidance every moment of the day and yet if you have strongly held negative beliefs, this guidance won’t be able to get through. You won’t allow in the very intuition that is meant to direct you. Suppose you want to start a business doing something you love. You feel excited about it and begin to have some success and yet you hold a strong core belief that, “You just can’t trust people. Everyone is out to rip you off.” What’s your guess about what you’ll end up creating? An employee who steals from you? A bookkeeper who embezzles your company’s funds? Or perhaps a client who reneges on his agreement to pay for your product?

Just so I don’t depress you too much, in my next blog, I’ll give you an intuition exercise called, “How to Change Your Beliefs and Attract Success!”
