You know how in mainstream fiction and literary and women's fiction there are so many stories that revolve around or explore dysfunctional families? That's something we don't really see in thrillers. I mean, we do often get dysfunction (hello, bad guy!) or damaged characters (hello, good guy!) but when family shows up it's usually a wife or a child as a plot device or to humanize the main character.
And I thought: Well, what would happen if the same high drama and dysfunction found in mainstream fiction got brought into a thriller where the dysfunctional family just happened to be a family of assassins and each person was quite capable of killing the others and often wanted to?
That's how we got Jack and Jill.
Not their real names, of course.
It's been a few years in the making, but LIARS' PARADOX is around the corner. Mark your calendars for December 18.
