Why Be Like Them When We’re Us?
There is something in the human psyche that seems to crave subjugation.
Oh, don’t roll your eyes at me. Give me a chance to explain before you get all huffy. Besides, people pay good money to be told what to do, how to do it, and when to. Throughout history people simply did what they were told, no questions asked. From local warlords to princes and kings, historically speaking, people believed that they were worth less than those who rules over them. The way things are now are, historically ...

Dragoncon 2025

I survived!
Yeah, that was a little melodramatic, but considering I was headed to an event where it is rather common for everyone to get some sort of plague, the fact that I was able to dodge the concrud despite being immunocompromised is very impressive indeed and, if I may say so myself, a crowning achievement to an awesome weekend!
Highlights: 500 people showed up to my signing with Matt Dinniman, D.J. Butler, Lucienne Driver, and Jonathan Maberry. Granted, 499 or so were there for ...

Casper (2009-2025)
My bestest buddy Casper crossed the rainbow bridge today.

I’ve known it was coming but it still hurts. He never really recovered from his tooth extraction back in June and his kidneys decided that it was time to go. I had him on kidney diet and everything to help, but he hated the food and was starving himself, so I let him eat what he wanted and focused on a quality of life thing for as much time as I could get from him.
Wednesday was a really good day for him. He wa...

What Sticks?
(Originally posted on Twitter/X)
(I’m taking a break from editing an anthology at the moment and am using voice-text speech. I’ll try to go back after this is done and edit, but I am also functionally blind right now as my eyes recover from the ER/hospital stay and the optic nerve swelling. But then again, this is Twitter, so I guess misspellings are expected? Be warned: this might go long.) So yesterday (I think it was yesterday, time math is weird right now)
The Critical Drinker posted a...

Busy-ness Inbound!
I was looking at my forthcoming novels and anthologies I’m both in and will have edited, and realized I actually don’t have a combined pre-order list for them all.
Whoops.
I can already hear the marketing people yell at me for not flooding every instance of social media with links on a daily basis.

Anyway, here is a small list of the titles and where you can get them on pre-order for everything coming through March 2026 (so far). I have a short story coming out in September 2025 for...

And Back To Good News!
Results from the lumbar puncture (part deux) are in and there is no lymphoma!
We were a little concerned because they hit us with that possibility over the weekend while at the hospital, but my oncologist appointment this morning went well and there isn’t any sign of it. The T-cells were from the immunotherapy drugs they had me on for the melanoma treatments, and the vision problems I’ve been having (and headaches) are related. They’re stopping the drugs for now (probably for good, since I’m ...

And Now The Bad News…
Lots of new cover reveals this past week, which is great news! But then I got slammed with some bad news, so I had to make a decision.
I was hospitalized last Wednesday after some neuro complications with my eyes following a recent infusion for my cancer treatments, and they ran a bunch of tests and think they might be linked. My vision is blurred and double right now, so touch typing is manageable but unfortunately, it’s difficult for me to see what I’m trying to edit. Because of that, I mad...

Cover Reveal! Part Deux
This one has been a long time coming…
So about 16 months ago I was struggling to write this book I’d been calling The Bronze Legion. The problem was, it needed a secondary main POV character who was a pilot, someone who would swoop down and rescue her “boys” when the feces hit the rotary impeller during a rough extraction. Their “Valkyrie,” so to speak. The problem was, I knew absolutely nothing about flying.
And then I read Rise from Ruin by Melissa Olthoff and knew I’d found my coauthor....
